My favorite at the moment is probably Clare from Claymore, she's not dumb, nor is she a genius, not someone boastful, nor someone shy, she doesn't cut through foes (strong ones) like a hot knife through snow but she definitely isn't weak. I mean Alucard is a great character, thats true, he's damn stylish, he's a beast when it comes to fighting and survival, but that makes the entire anime a demonstration of how strong he is. while Claymore is all about the hardships Clare has to endure. Thats why i vote for her, although she's not my favorire character, she is one of my favorites, but since Claymore is an ongoing anime she's the protagonist who's in my head most of the time.
