Elfin lied. The main character is a psychopathic serial killer with a multiple split personality, so of course there is going to be lots of blood. However you can't help but love her as she tries so hard to mend her ways but ends up trying to kill the whole world in the end.

ひぐらしのなく頃に, Higurashi no Naku Koro ni - probably the most violent/bloody one I have seen. Although Elfen lied is pretty bloody. I don't think it quite has the violence of Higurashi.

Isn't it nice that we can have a calm casual exchange on what is the most violent and bloody fantasy you have ever seen drawn up in anime, as if its just good, healthy interest, but I get my $#!T jumped for my opinions on sex. To me, this fact is extremely creepy.(sigh).

I don't watch anime basically, but the I would say it was Aeon Flux on Liquid Television back in the day that is the most gory I remember.

Probably ﾆ竪ﾆ停?ｹﾆ稚ﾆ巽ﾆ停?愴椎?ﾂーﾆ暖 or ﾆ但ﾆ段ﾆ旦ﾂー. The problem with these anime is that they go way over the top with gore, so it isn't really a big deal at all when someone is killed. I'm not at all bothered by gore, but I've learned to dislike anime which tend to go a bit overboard since it's hard to care half way through the series.

I haven't watched that much of violent anime, though it doesn't mean that I never liked it, it is just that I didn't look for it and have little grasp on this genre. Though, maybe the bloodiest I've seen so far is The Another, the last part in the burning mansion. Lots of bloods out there and quite creepy as well.

I only read some of the manga of Gantz, and I do agree its bloody brutal. Although in terms of anime, like many others have mentioned, I find Berserk to be the most violent/dark anime i've seen, not in terms of frequency, but in terms the overall effect that you feel after watching the entire series. It makes your head hurt...

I must say, I am glad that images such as this don't offend anyone's sensibilities. Just extreme pain and blood probably followed by death.

But if anyone dares to post some nudity, or even links to nudity, that person should certainly get a proper come-uppance.
