What was the first anime you ever watched?

I can't really remember which was first *sweatdrop* but either Dragon ball (first season) or Sailor Moon (way back when it first came to Canada!)

The first anime I ever watched was Pokemon, but what really got me hooked was Sailor Moon. I remember thinking how pretty their outfits were, and wondering why no one in America dressed in sailor outfits.

My first one was Cardcaptor Sakura. It was really nice to watch, especially for a kid of 9 or 10, haha. BUt now, my favourite is Kyou Kara Maou, very funny. Law Of Ueki is really good too, but I've missed a lot.

I was a bit young to know it for sure, but it must have been the Speed Racer or one old anime about a japanese junior baseball team with guys that throwed fire balls, invisible balls and stuff, I forgot the name though. :(

my first anime was Mew Mew Power, or Tokio Mew Mew, at us is Mew Mew Power. And that anime made me think they're ....cool I guess. But, anyway, from then I am much more experienced with anime.👍 ....*me:OMG, I've used the word "anime" too much...ehh...whatever*😊

humss... dragon ball i think. or maby sailor moon? i cannot remember it was when i was around 5 or 6 years old XD

um my first animes were Astro boy (I iked it a lot there were momments that even made me cry ok I mean I was maybe 5 :D and now it would be interesting to watch it again) then Speed Racer :) don't remember a lot about it :) but it was awesome :) and of course my beloved Candy Candy... damn this anime is something everybod got to see... it's so touching... :)

I don't really remember. I think it was either Dragon Ball Z or Sailor Moon (me and my sister watched SM together).

I vaguely remember seeing a bunch of random anime back in the 80's, before I knew it was anime. First series I intentionally purchased/watched was the Ah Megamisama! OVAs and movie. Really liked it, and it was my gateway into anime.

Lain - Serial Experiements was my first real anime about... 7 or 8 years ago.
I liked it, but I've still never finished the darn thing.
But it was enough to make me want to watch other anime's later on.

Pokèmon. xD
I remember I was 8 years old, zapping around on TV, and then.. "woow... this looks good. ^^"
I don't really remember how I came to watch other animes, nor read mangas, but I belive that was when it started.

My first anime was also Pokemon. I was about 10-11 years old, when the first season was aired in my country. Everyone of my school was hooked on it, I still remember that it was shown on tv right after school so I always had to hurry to not miss anything (I even didnt want to miss the intro, my god how I loved the intro haha !). We also had pokemon cards, and we didnt do anything else than showing off our cards to eachother and trading (we actually didnt play the cardgame itself lol). And I have also played pokemon on my gameboy severly. Yeah those were good times !

a few years lather, Digimon got aired and I also watched it (it was always shown in the morning, right before I had to leave for school)..

Anyway those were my 2 only anime series I have seen. wellm not the complete series, whilst getting older I logically lost my interest in cartoons. I guess they are still broadcasting pokemon ? what about digimon ?

Anyway I think I will try out any anime serie that I can find on the internet. Will be a nice tool to sharpen my japanese and maybe I can relife the pleasiours I had with pokemon hehe !

I've posted before, but something has been on my mind.

I would say my first anime was Akira.

Before this I had watched the 3 series that was called Robotech in the US,
and before that what was called Battle of the Planets. Also what was called Voltron, I guess was also from Japan.
But I am not sure I'd really consider them "anime" in the American sense of the word. Why? Because when I watched them they were just other cartoons to me. Although they were definately different. They were some of my favorites.

Not until Akira did I understand what I was watching was cartoons or animation from Japan. That is, what we in the US have adopted the term anime to: cartoons that we know are from Japan. And called Akira and others since then anime. So even as I began to learn that the others above were from Japan I did not initially call them anime.

What are other people's take?
hmm, a new thread perhaps?

that would have to be Iria Zeiram: The Animation... it's basically what got me started on animation in the first place and has been my favorite movie ever since well and Akira, also a great movie...

it would be magic knight ray earth for me. but here comes the real definition on "anime". nowadays, hello kitty is just considered as plain cartoon even if it was created by Japan, whereas the real definition of "anime" is actually anything animated by Japan. So if i were to put it philosophically, it would be Sanrio's rather than Clamp's :)

My first animation was 窶ーテ??堙遺?堋ォナスq, in Dutch we call it Remi alleen op de wereld, what would be Remi Alone on the world in English.
Here is a the openings part of the anime on Youtube:

Plot Summary: Remi lives with his mother in a French village. His father, Barberin, works in Paris. When he returns wounded and hard-hearted, Remi discovers he is actually a foundling. Barberin sells Remi to a traveling artist, Vitalis, and his animals troop. Heart-broken Remi leaves his home to face the hardships of a traveling artist's life. In Vitalis Remi finds the father he lacks. On his way Remi meets a kind rich woman and her sick son, who are actually his real mother and brother. Though life with them is nice, Remi, not knowing the truth, chooses to leave with Vitalis. Tragedies strike one after another to leave Remi alone with the faithful dog Capi. Between staying with a family of gardeners, where he gets attached to the youngest mute daughter Lise, and traveling with his best friend Mattia, earning his living by playing the harp, Remi searches for a place in life... Until he discovers his real parents may be alive, and undertakes a perilous journey to London in search of his family.

I really hope some other people have seen this anime when they were younger.
