What does your user name mean?

I am interested to hear how people get/choose their names... :-)

I was going to shut up now, because I am supposed to be working  but... I don't shut up easily... 😌 I wanted to say some words for my friend the letter X, I am glad you like him too 👍

X is balanced yet satisfyingly spiky
X can be written also violently, like two crossed swords
X stands for censorship, as in 'xxxxxxxx' or the old 'x' rated movies
X is also for your choice, on the election paper!
X means you have got the answer wrong...
but X also marks the point where you can find the hidden treasure.
X is any man or any woman, the mystery person
X is a dynamic letter! He has 2 arms and 2 legs... you can make him into a stick person!
And very importantly, X is a kiss, too... :-)

Yes, I like the versatile letter :p

Mine is a name I use on another site that already used my name (Mike). Having an interest in ancient Egypt I used a variation of one of the Great Pyramid Builders. When I joined Jref I decided to use it here.

Wow Kinsao, you are a good spokesperson for the letter X! I like the first letter of my jref name, 窶堙? I like it because that single letter takes three roman letters to write, it has a nice curvy shape and it reminds me of a snail. Snails are one of my favourite creatures.

Oh, I love snails also! Go snails!!!

I bought my mom a drinking game for her birthday last year. It is 'racing snails'. Do you know them? They are different colours and you wind them up.

"Shut up, Kinsao! Shut up!!!!" *bangs head on desk repeatedly*

add to this that X resembles 'aleph' %)

What a fitting name for you, Mike. I've always wondered what it was; I shall remember that. I also remember reading the word 'pyramid' meant a piece of baked bread; possibly the Egyptian form of the word (??) might have meant somethig totally different. Any insight from the Great Pyramid builder ?

Snails are cute. In New Zealand we have Very big snails called 'Kauri snails'. You should look them up on the internet. Really pretty too.

My favorite letter is C, because it has a nice color to it. I know that sound weird. But you know how each word or letter gives people a certain feeling (i.e. some people associate words and sounds, words and pictures, words and colors, words and numbers, etc.)? Words give me images of colors. It's the same with numbers, which is why I often associate words and numbers; they have the same colors. So anyway, I like C, because it's an odd number, and it's a cold color, like pastel blue.

I'll try to explain this more clearly...

All 'cold' colors (i.e. blues, purples, and greens) are odd. Left is odd. All odd numbers are...odd (suprising, I know...:D).

All 'hot' colors (i.e. reds, yellows, and oranges) are even. Right is even. And of course, even numbers are even.

Personally, I've always for some reason preffered odd things like odd numbers, pastel colors, and left. 😊 I don't know why...

Wow - and they are carnivorous *and* cannibals, too. Maybe they belong on the 'cannibalism' thread... :D

While I was a senior in college in Japan I started playing Pachinko. I became so good at it in a short time that I profited to the tune of at least 10,000 yen/day for approximately 7 or 8 months until my visa expired and I returned to the US for a short time before returning back to Japan.

I was given the name "Pachipro" by the regulars, or other "pachipro's" at the place I most frequented and have used it as a 'user name' on forums as I really couldn't think of an interesting name. I figured it might grab someone's attention if they know anything about Japanese and Japan and I might make a friend or two.

If you are interested, you can read the story in the "Personal Stories" section.

What a great unsername, Pachipro. I remember reading your self-intro and understood; great feeling to be able to communicate a part of you by your name. 👍

Hooray, someone who knows Hebrew as well! 🙂 I'm so happy, i feel less alone! (Although I cannot speak a word of it...I just know what they teach us at Hebrew school, which is, unfortunately, not much...😌 But I do know the Alephbet! :-) Not much, but it's at least something, eh?)

have to confess i don`t know Hebrew :p Just had a close look at the alphabet. I liked this letter, maybe it came from solar sign of 'swastika', or vece versa. But if you`ll spin it you`ll get the circle. I read somwhere that it signifies 4 parts of the world (w, s, e, n).
But 'iod' even more fascinating, 'shin' is like a fire... ok-ok! i stop :D

My actual first name "Michael" is Hebrew for Godlike :-)

The swastika, "hakenkreuz" came from many different cultures. Some say it is 4 "L"s put together to represent, Love, Luck, Liberty, Life. There many many different meanings of it.

Anyways......

I use Rudel as my screen name ever since I endulged onto the Internet seen back in 1994.

If you read my bio, you will know that I love Flight Simulations and am pretty familiar with air war history and it's pilot.

Rudel is the last name of Hans Ulrich Rudel. The only German WWII pilot to receive the Gold Knight Cross With Swords and Diamonds in the Luftwaffe. Very famous as he flew the Ju-87 Stuka with over 580 Air to Air and Air to Ground kills combined.

I've been in a virtual squadron since I got the Internet, and thought Rudel would fit my callsign or screen name as being a pilot. especially when the squadron I am in, is mostly a bombing squadron.

in many, and in many even before any alphabet. Believed to be solar sigh, also an infinity. Also it resembles spiral galaxies, so, can be just a sign of movement and everchanging world :-)

I just use my real name, too! Not that there's anything wrong with that...

Actually, I meant first and last name. Gotta admire Frank for throwing his middle initial in there too.

I'm quite the culinary enthusiast hence the moniker (show was popular at the time, heh).

Rock Lee is a character from the anime called "Naruto".He worked hard without having the natural 'genius' talent like the other ninjas had, I just admire people who get to their goals by just hard work. :)

I would explain the meaning behind my name, but then I would have to kill somebody.

Doc ^ ^ <- (doggy ears) The doggy is in a good mood.

It's embarrassing to admit this, but my handle is a misspelling of PAROUSIA, which is Greek for "the appearing" referring to the 2nd coming of Christ. Ok, I know I'm not Christ, but I start using it when I reappeared on the internet after an extended purposed absence. I'd gotten too wrapped up in forums, etc., and took a break. Now I only "appear" ocassionally! Lame, eh?

well, since im too lazy to reply to this topic again i just merged the threads ...again

Nice one Rudel! 👍 I used to be interested in planes (way before the days of the internet...) and I have memories of making the Airfix model of the Stuka. Very nice plane to model. My cousin started the model and made a hash of it so I sorted it out for him...... :-)

lol @ Pararousia - I thought your name was a combination of paranoia and arousal, with a significance known to you only... thank you for demystifying 😊

yay - I never thought of X and the Hebrew/swastika connection... a multi-talented letter indeed... and spinning it becomes a circle... cool... *gets hypnotised by mental image of spinning object*

I admire those of you who use your real names, especially if it is first and last. You must lead such blameless lives... :-) unlike Doc...

my nick is initial of real name anton xie.
xie is just family name from my father side, and anton is name given by a nun right after I was born. If you check in www.babynamesnetwork.com Anton means "worthy of praise" .
