Sports Anime?

As a guy who's four favorite letters in the alphabet are E-S-P-N, I'm curious to know if there's much in the way of sports related anime out there. So far, all I've seen is Princess Nine, which was pretty good by the way. Is there more? :?

Prince of Tennis ?

There's Touch (baseball) and Slam Dunk, which are good. Another baseball one is H2 which is by the same author as Touch but not as popular, but I still liked it. They're fairly old though, so it might be hard to find much of them. There's a newer series called Hajime no Ippo which is about boxing. What else...if you're into racing there's Initial D, and there's one about a judo girl called Yawara, though I haven't seen that yet so I don't know if it's good or not. The thing about sports anime series is that they tend to be really long, so it's quite hard to get all of the episodes. Good luck finding them!

yeah, Slam Dunk is good. It's bout basketball... ^^
and Prince of Tennis... (obviously tennis...) and... hmm... can't remember anything...

Yawara! is quite good from the episodes I've seen, but I'm not sure if people would like it trying to watch it specifically as a "sports" anime. Certainly judo is featured, but it's not really the focus... maybe there's more judo competition later in the series, but in the early parts that I've watched it seems more focused on the inter-relationships of the characters with a smattering of judo thrown in...

Slam Dunk is possibly the ultimate recent "sports" anime... if you're a basketball fan at all, this is a great one to check out! Prince of Tennis has been montioned, and there's an older tennis anime called "Ace wo nerae!" as well... if you've ever seen the sci-fi Gainax anime Gunbuster, that was a great parody of "Ace wo nerae!"

If I think of any more besides the ones mentioned already, I'll be back...

Gotta watch Slam Dunk! I never thought I'd like it...anime about basketball, but it has become my all time favorite. The manga is also just as good, if not better.

i have seen yawara up to 45
it is about judo/triumphing/losing also
it is shojo yes
but it is definitely about judo -- Yawara!

Well, being a baseball fan, I'm partial to Princess Nine. Besides, where else can you see the legendary hidden ball trick performed? And done to perfection to boot as it was in that series!
