I like manga (since I can read Japanese) but not into anime. My favorite manga is of course, "Golgo 13". I have about 38 volumes but there are 128 all together. Very good writing as well as drawing.

Same here. I really adore some anime and manga, but I can say that I'm not an otaku freak. If you ask me such people are not OK, there is something wrong whit them.
What I like about Asian art as a whole is the way they see the world. It's a little different from our European or American way. Things like honour and stuff like that are mighty in such art.

Anyway, here is an interesting article. I don't know the guy who wrote that is 100% right, but I agree on some stuff.

Yeah, anime changed my ways of life, i try and be more "animated" and more energetic, although it just makes me more tired at the end of the day, well hey! *bouncey bouncey* keep it goiN!

You know what I really really love... ... when you sit down with a cool glass of coke and have a good old manga marathon and watch stand-alone complex, most of bee-bop then a bit of blue gender then some nedesco, not too much Eva coz that's messed up. It skews with my head splashily at half past 5 in the morning. ..then you spend the next few days gets your sleep patterns back to normal.

Of cors without some sugary drink to keep you going, you will get wasted.

I spend too much money on manga, going to be a pain to ship it back to aus

I found a second hand manga store where its like 100 yen for one so i went mad with anything i liked the look of Good practice too

Ah, I can't imagine what i'd do without my anime and manga! It's part of my life now! I'm a hardcore fan, and it'll stay that way! ^.^
I've heard that in Japan being called an Otaku isn't necissarily a good thing...it's like being called a nerd, or a loser...isn't that disappointing =\

I love anime! ^.^ and. japan. In fact. My obession borders the unhealthy. So. If anime suddenly died, I'd have a heart attack and drop dead on the spot. ^_^

Otaku=completely obessed anime fan. xD

I chose the first option. Anime and manga are two things that bond people from around the world together. Everyone around the world is familiar with the artwork, the color, the visual eye candy, and the characters...every intangible you can think of. That's why you have anime fan from all corners of the world.

According to my Japanese dictionary, it says:

オタク (col) geek; nerd; enthusiast; (P)
お宅(P); 御宅 【おたく】 (pol) your house; your home; you

To make sure I asked my Japanese friend and he said it means "mania"

Not really obsessed with anime in general as being obsessed with a particular title (ie: Naruto) hehe.....but i can totally agree with you on the fantasy world. And the fave character. I like collecting the different items from Japan. And anime does help me forget the many problems and stress that life causes.
