Good example. I agree that it is impossible to learn a language only through anime, but in a complex of different ways of learning, watching anime, as well as films or spoken videos will give a good effect.A good few years ago, I started learning Spanish. I thought I was doing quite good at it where I could at least speak simple sentences. I had went on holiday there and I was meet with either blank faces when speaking to locals or that they spoke English. I gave it trying to learn the language because if you are not living in a country where the language is spoken, there is no use for learning the language other than the saying to people that you had did.
One thing I will say is that Spanish people speak very quickly where the words at times merges together. Even though you may know Spanish words, Spanish spoke by Spanish people is almost incomprehensible. I had learned Spanish using DuoLingo which used spoken language so I was able to get used to hearing Spanish words and in doing so, it was easier to understand spoken Spanish from YouTube clips even though they were talking fast.
It is part of the immmersion part of language learning where when you hear the words you will get used to listening to it and then be able to listen to it spoken by native speakers. While I was learning Spanish I used this site SPSS Assignment Help for Sociology Students to manage my hometasks in college intime. This site is great for students. In that way, while watching Anime might not be totally helpful in learning Japanese, it will help you to listen to native Speakers and be able to pick out words and in time when your proficiency improves, will be able to communicate with them.

Sigh...please don't cite MattvsJapan and KenCannon as authorities on learning Japanese.
They are both known scammers who ****** people into paying hundreds or thousands of dollars to pay for their Japanese courses on the basis that they are the only ones who can teach true Japanese, despite the fact that they actively misrepresent their own experiences with the language.
They both claim they learned solely through "immersion" when the fact is they both took classroom Japanese lessons in university, felt it didn't help them, then eventually watched a lot of native Japanese media and got comfortable with the language.
Well...guess what? This is what people have always been doing to learn languages.
They didn't just watch anime, etc., and then one day they were wow! automagically! fluent!
They had some basic grammar knowledge, then they supplemented this with native Japanese content, which reinforced their knowledge and gave them experience with the living language. Guess what? That's what I did too and no one is hailing me as some language learning god or throwing money at me because I'm the One True Speaker of Truth among non-native Japanese speakers.
Please, please don't buy into these two's misrepresentations of themselves, or promote them to beginning learners. It is an incredibly harmful and just simply not correct mindset.
Matt basically tries to convince people that if you don't learn Japanese exactly like he did -- for which you can pay him money for the privilege -- you are doomed to speaking horrible gaijin-speak forever and everyone will hate you. Never mind the fact that he hasn't published anything on the internet that isn't heavily curated or approved by him.
I am so tired of seeing these people who are just pretty decent Japanese learners with good PR presenting themselves as some sort of language learning god and suckering people in.

I have more to say about this to the OP -- which I'll say when I'm thinking a bit more clearly -- but for now I agree with Majestic's post entirely.
Sorry, mdchachi, I really don't want to be antagonistic, but MattvsJapan and Ken Cannon are not positive, authentic, or trustworthy presences in the Japanese learning community, and I would rather not see their lies and scams promulgated here. Thank you.

Do you have Japanese class five times a week? That means it's a five credit class. College counselors say that if we want to get an A in a class, we have to spend three hours outside of class doing homework for every one hour we spend in class. When they say 12 hours of credit is full time, they mean it!
Find someone in class you can study with. It'll be more fun and you will remember better.
