Anime you used to dislike

I'm not that kind of person who makes quick judgments on anything, but I used to loathe Dragon Ball for no reason. I just couldn't stand watching its commercial on TV and I was always wondering why ppl are so obsessed about it, till I gave it a try and watched one movie and it wasn't that bad.. Another anime I used to dislike was Chobits, but after I watched the first episode, I can tell why everybody loves it.

Do you have a specific anime serial that you used to dislike for some reason?

I still hate DragOnBall because it's absolutely braindead (at least Z/GT)

Currently, I don't know any which I hated at one point and now not anymore.

Dragonball and Dragonball Z is a great anime for those who love fighting/action with a twist of stupid humor.

The original Dragonball is an excellent old school series since they didn't have big booms and bams. Alot of hand to hand combat.

DragonBall Z is also a good series for the fact later on the animation has evolved and I just enjoy the fighting.

But, GT is garbage for one main/important reason: Akira Toriyama wasn't involved in it.

He wanted to end it with DBZ(which was a smart move) and the company said "No" and made a new series without him. You can tell sometimes because the characters look somewhat messy compared to the original touch Akira Toriyama had on his characters. Thus, why GT is garbage.

i still hate dragonball with a passion. it plays out a little something like this:

1st episode: oh no an evil villan is here to destroy the world, quick lets stop him

2nd episode: oh we tried to stop him but we failed and his power increased 10 fold. i know lets charge up some huge power ball to destroy him

episodes 3-9: it takes that many episodes to charge the power ball up

episode 10: we finally launch the power ball even though we been taking his life threatening attacks in the process. YESSSS!!! we destroyed him. oh whats this? another villian is here to destroy the world.

and the process repeats once again.

but seriously i didnt like raxephon but i really like it now

When you start saying that then relate it to Dragonball Z.
Because DragonBall(the original 80's series) wasn't like that.
Yes that is somewhat annoying, but still I love the anime.

I also used to hate the Dragon Ball series, but after watching it, I was hooked (well, sorta; the action was a little too intense at times and overwhelmed the plot ). My favorite part of the series was the Cell Saga. I liked Android 18 because she was sexy and deadly.
Other than that, I can't really think of an Anime that I used to hate, but I can think of quite a few that I hate now, but not before, namely Poke'mon. From '98 to 2000, Poke'mon was cool, but it lost it's touch I guess because it became too juvenile for me. I still have all the cards, but I'm only hanging onto them for the money. An Anime I never liked at all was the Thundercats. The animation, plot, characters, voice actors, everything sucked IMO.

thundercatst is the one anime i completely just can't stand at all. there have been others i go tired of, but this one just annoyed me. i noticed that both dbz and sailormoon have very repetitive storylines, part of the reason i stopped watching both. sailormoond episode:
big villian, serena falls down, crys, transforms, moon power, happy ending.

repeat 300 times.

pokemon, i liked until it became so big in the u.s. everytihg and it's grandma had 'gotta catch 'em all' on it. dbz, though, i did obsess over for a while, even to the point of having a crush on piccolo

I used to not like trigun, I saw a comerical and thought it just about macho guys shooting stuff but at a friends house I saw some episodes and found out it has a aloy of meaning. and Im like in love with legato...

i still dislike lupin the 3rd, its so stupid, I dislike yu-gi-oh the plot is dumb, can barley stand yugi, can not stand tea(SP?) I do watch it tho, but for bakura, marik, and seto....so basically, I watch it for the bad guys.

I hate Gundam SD that show is so annoying!!! and I'm not much for the giant robot animes. (Neon Genesis Evangelion is okay though)

I can't name any anime that I disliked specifically, but I had a bias for all shoujo's. Mostly because I had this idea that all shoujo's were for girls and therefore unentertaining for a person who liked violent and serious type of anime's like me. Then one day my friend showed me Love Hina because he said it was the best shoujo he's ever seen. After watching LH I found it to be pretty damn hilarious but the progression of the story was way too slow for my taste(this is kind of true for most of the anime's out right now). I did end up trying other shoujo's after that, some good, some bad, but most were watchable. That's my story

I've tried and tried to like DBZ but I just couldn't. Still can't. The show is nothing but a collection of musclebound goons and freaks yelling and beating the crap out of each other. The yellow pages has more of a plot. It's amazing such a shallow show has such a huge following here given there's nothing at all substantial about it. But hey, to each their own.

Speed Racer

I hate to think that I ever hated any anime. But when I was a kid , I couldn't STAND 'Speed Racer' ! back then I couldn't even recognize that it is anime !!! But it was sometimes so funny (the movement of characters and stuff) also when it was dubbed into arabic , it was hilarious

Now I like it , infact I remember it with , what do they call it , empathy?? (the feeling when you miss something.. )

I CAnnot stand INu yasha! I 'm tired of people saying its so great or "GREATEST OF ALL TIME!" its annoying....EXTREMLY more so then usuall.....about as much as dbz, sailormoon repetative episodes and Gundam sd....THAT THING Is An ABOMINATION to the Gundam Family...And i love gundams....

Anyway, of the most weird, and boring anime I have seen so far is:
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind. (sorry if I have offended people).

-I just didn't get it, and was too "adventure-like & fantasy" for me...I did not quite understand the so-called "OHMS" in the anime. What were they????!! :?
---Maybe I was too tired when I watched it, maybe I should watch it some other time to understand the story and story-line...I am just discouraged to watch it this year though...The DVD will collect dust this year....

Well, originally, I wasn't much of a Speed racer fan when I was a teenager. But in time, I came to enjoy it. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if many of today's NASCAR stars are closet Speed fans!

Another reason I came to like the show----I developed a serious case of the hots for Trixie! I thought she was all that AND a bag of barbeque chips!

I have to admit that I like the new remake series of Speed Racer better than the original. Speed Racer X, I think it is. As for Dragonball/DBZ...you have to watch it with a light heart. It gets corny, melodramatic, and a little (ok...a lot) repetative at times, but it was a pretty good anime up until the Buu saga.

As for anime that I used to dislike...probably Fist Of The North Star. It seemed so cheesy to me when I first saw it. Hit a guy, and his head explodes. But now that I've started watching the series in order, I'm kind of into it. Still not one of my favorites, but I find myself asking "What's going to happen to Ken!?" at the end of each episode.

I used to hate Yu-Gi-OH.

Er..Because I wasn't that interested on card games in those times. At first, I thought it's a show where people play cards just to be #1 or something but I guess I was wrong. ^^;;

The story gets deeper and deeper every episode/season. And I must admit, Yu-Gi-Oh card game got me hook..even though I hate card game animes..

...and no, I'm not a 'Duel Master' fan.

I really hate it.Seriously.

I used to dislike Initial D. The reason why was I thought it was another Fast and Furious type thing. FF ruined street racing as we know it, and brought a legion of posers along with it. After I picked up the first DVD, I think its pretty good. Other than the token annoying female in love with the main character

Well, this is gonna sound like sacrilege, if not flat out treason in the minds of anime lovers, but I initially had no interest whatsoever in Neon Genesis Evangelion. For starters, I'm not all that into giant robots, and the seemingly relentless hype about NGE made it sound like the greatest thing to come out of Japan since the DVD player, and I found that annoying enough to avoid the show with a passion for years.



However, my curiosity about the show finally forced me to check out the first volume of the recently released Platinum Edition, and, damned if I wasn't hooked from the very first episode. From the diverse characters (though Shinji's whining gets on my nerves), the EVA's, the angels, and the badass Asuka, the show definitely delivers! Drama, action, intrigue, even the occasional bursts of humor, NGE is absolutely incredible and well worth the hype.

I cant stand duel masters, but i have tried to watch it at least. Other than that it was only digimon for no reason whatsoever.

When I first heard of Digimon it was around the time Pokemon was all the rage in America so of course I thought it was some cheap copy. But when I watched it, I liked alot, or at least the first two seasons anyway ^_^

Cromartie high school! I seriously used to hate that anime till I saw the second episode, it's freakin hilarious! The animation isn't that great, different but I like it now. Another anime I didn't like then I started to was Kaleido star new wings, just not my type of anime but I watched it again and really liked it.
