First anime I watched was Azumanga Diaoh which I managed to download, at the moment I am hooked on Naruto.

The first anime I saw was .hack//SIGN, which got me to Love Hina, and eventually to look for good anime shows on http://anidb.ath.cx/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=main

I think I was five years old when I watched Voltes 5, AstroBoy and Daimos. I also got to watch Kimba the White Lion and Speed Racer. (^_^)

First One...
Well, I wanna say Cowboy Bebop was my first, but it's the major one. I just now remembered that Fox used to have Esaflowne on it. I remember an episode where they fight on a train?
That and early morning sailor moon. First stuff, not even knowing really waht was going on.
I remember, about 3-4 years ago, my second and more memorable time. It was Cowboy Bebop on adult swim (I still remember the original adult swim style, with the old ppl swimming
) I saw the third to last and second to last episodes. Confused the mega-uber crap out of me (i was, what, 10?) when I got back home, I researched it. Massively. Searching everthing, as well as downloading and listening to. Afterwards, I started to gain interest in Pokemon, Digimon, and then that all evolved into stuff like Princess Mononoke and Excel Saga. Ten, afterwards, my mind had figured out what was going on, what's happening, and such.

Now that you have put such a fine thread together, I wonder if you all can help me remember. In my young years (during the 80's) I remember watching four series, three of which I'm fairly certain was anime, the third I'm not so sure. Series like Thundercats and the likes not included, of course.
Anyway, one was Starzinger (aka. Starkeeters in the US I think, dunno if the japanese name is different). This series got really big in sweden among the kids. Another was Galaxy Express 666 (or maybe it was 999). I remember it was a train going through space in it, and all sorts of (for me, then) scary things happened in and around it.
Then there are two series I don't know the name of, the real ones anyway.
One took place in the dinosour age, and was about a boy named Ruy (or Ryu?) looking for his mother. I remember his greatest fear was a Tyrannosaurus Rex, which he ended up fighting a couple of times. It was called (direct translation from swedish to english) "Ruy - The caveboy" here. Anyone know this one? The other one, which I don't know if it actually was anime, either had the name "Odysseus" in its title, or it was about someone named odysseus. It was a space adventure sort of anime, at least, and the story probably had some kind of connection with greek mythology. Anyone?

I remember I did cry in the ending of both Starzinger and that Ruy anime. Those "happy-but-still-not-very-happy" melancholic endings was too much for little me.
I also remember my sister was watching some series called Candy Candy, and another one I don't remember.

The first one I saw was Dragonball, when I was a little kid. I used to watch it all the time. I have the entire Dragonball Z series (in Japanese, uncut) and it brings back fond memories of my childhood

the first anime i watched was doraemon but I didnt really like it.....the first one i watched and liked would have to be one of the gundam series...i cant remember which one but it was a long time ago

My first was waaaay back in the 80's and it was...well I can't remember if it was Dragon Ball or Zelda...if that's classified as old anime...anyway I can't remember those all too clearly, but the one I do remember was in 1997 or 1996 when Sailor Moon first came to America...after seeing the subtitled version though I realized how messed up it was and how many good episodes they left out

I remember waking up at 6 am every morning during elementary school to see Sailor Moon. Then came Speed Racer, Thundercats, and DBZ, all before I had any idea what "anime" was. First series that actually pulled me into the lifestyle I live now was Gundam Wing. Trowa kicked so much butt.
