What is your mother tongue ?

My native is english, but I can figure out what something says in french pretty good (yay! Three years of french in high school really did do something for me). I'm hoping to start japanese classes soon.

My native laguage is Tagalog but I'm very fluent in English. Even when I was in still in the Philippines I was speaking good English. I hope I learn more from these forums as I am planning a trip to Japan with my wife and daughter this July 2005.

My mother tongue is Finnish but my English isn't really bad either... I can also speak German but I'd say it's more conversational than near native level. I haven't actually spoken it for quite some time but I read magazines in German a lot. Then there's always the compulsory Swedish but my Wedish is probably conversational as well, nothing great. I understand a tiny bit of written French and really basic Mandarin Chinese and of course a tiny tiny bit of Japanese ( I've been studying it for only about 3-4 months ^^; )

I guess you could say that I like languages...

My mothertongue is Finnish, and I can speak English too.
I have studied German 8 years, I understand it kinda well, and I guess I can speak it too, considering how long I have studied it(but I'm not so sure 'cos I haven't used it much). I can speak Swedish, and now I study Russian in university and started studying japanese too.
So fluently I can speak English and Finnish, kinda well Swedish, Russian and German, and a little bit japanese.

Lost and found:
My 1st language is Korean, lost it and had to relearn it. Makes you really love the language. Could say the same about English, though 2nd.

Found and lost:
3rd, Mandarin Chinese, enough to get by. Great language.
Classical Greek: nobody speaks it anymore, so I really miss the drills.
Manchu in the Xibo dialect: enough to compose epic, but it's been fading

Mother tongue is Mauritian. Problem is it's only a spoken colloquial language which looks like French (only spoken by a bit more than 1m people ). I have learned English and French at school, so these are more or less ok. Spoken English has got better now.

I speak some Hakka, a Chinese dialect and will have to learn Mandarin again someday ☝ Hoping to grasp some Japanese

Native: Bosnian (well you can add to this Croatian and Serbian since all three of them come from Serbo-Croatian which was again formal language of ex-Yugoslavia. After war every country wanted its own language (logical).)

I also speak English and more-less German (well good enough to watch anime on Viva and RTL2 )

Mother tongue Chinese of Hakka dialect - Almost lost it now that I didn't use it for quite a while.

Third(Formative Language) - Indonesian, near native level.

Third Language (Mental Language) - English, sometimes switched to Chinese

Fourth Language (Chinese Mandari) - This language has invaded my mother tongue that I speak it more than I speak my mother tongue now.

Other languages I speak considerably: French, Spanish, Japanese and Tagalog.

Other languages I have been learning: Arabic, Hindi, Vietnamese, Laos, Thai.
