Porl i think you will enjoy Seven Samurai very much its a very good movies with a great story and if you understand how the samurais would live and ther code you can better respect the movie.

I forgot to put a new favorite on my list. Just 3 weeks ago I watched Akira. I loved the twisted storyline and the screwed up characters. Good movie. You should see it.

Oh and MeiWAkU, I was kind of wondering the same thing. I don't really know what was disgusting about Ninja Scroll. And I'm not sure if it was a slam to anime. We have other movies listed that are anime. I love Rurouni Kenshin's OVA's and Akira, so it probably might not be about the anime thingy. And anime are movies. And Akira is rated R and is immensly serious, so I consider anime as movie titles. Plus it's easier to make Sci-Fi movies, and Fantasy movies in anime form.

If you liked it alot you really ort to read the manga. Its a very looong manga but its definetly worth it !! Katsuhiro Otomo has such a good art style!! also the film is only really the first 1/4 of the story/manga. It gets better.

Its the first anime film i ever saw (when it first came out through MangaUK).. its one of my all time favs..

Yeah. They skip all of the 'Empire' parts of the story that starts up in the wake of the first nuclear blast in Tokyo, which is at the end of the film. But they kind of cut and shut the ending of the film on. It misses big chunks of a story about Akira and the other children. It shows Akira as Tetsuo and the empires lord. You don't see any of that in the film.

Seriously, if you like Akira read the manga for sure! You won't be disappointed. I'd even put money on it.

If you've only watched the U.S. dubbed version of Akira, watch the Japanese version with subtitles. Some of the dialogue is different.

I saw those films a couple of years ago. Pretty cool! they are like art films from what i remember.....i do remember them baking my noodle a fair bit!!

thank you for the sites containg the pictures of the books,I have seen them before wow they are so big and filled with many pages.I was looking at te covers and i can tell the manga are more detiled with hte story.I will most likly recive akira set on CHRITMAS.(big hug for PORL)

The Tetsuo films dont have anything to do with akira. They are live action films about a guy who has a weird metal fetish, or he see's a guy with a metal fetish ( i cant quite remember the details as i saw it years and years ago ).. basically he turns into a robo kinda guy in the end of the film. ...the film is about his transformation..well, thats what i remember.

They are good...but freaky!
