Help with manga characters

My best friend and I are manga fans. He's been drawing manga characters for a couple years. I've been writing stories(mainly .hack//SIGN fanfics) for a little while also. We have decided to try our hand at combining our skills and creating a manga. We have run into a slight problem, though, I can't decide what our main characters should look like!!! I'm asking ANYONE who has any ideas on character specs to post. There are only 3 requirements:
1. They must be male
2. They must either be an asassin or a knight
3. They must have a midevil (European) theme

so a hybrid farmer and ant-breeder with a magical pitchfork and a purple cow that lays glas eggs concept is out of the question then?

Feels sorta medieval to me...

how about a cool albanian general kidnaped as a kid from the ottoman army and trained to fight for them, and after he becomes a commander, goes bak to his native nations where he leads a rebeliion against he evil ottomans ?

True story btw , we kept those guys away for 25 years

that was what warcraft 3's first story draft was supposed to be.

An orc child kidnapped, raised by the humans and taught tactics and... well.. you're smart people, you can figure out the rest.

well, you are at no loss for the creative process, so whats the problem? you already know what he should look like, you listed the specs in order. looks like youve already got the character, now put your artist to work! armour and robes arent hard to draw, finding mid-evil symbolism isnt hard, assasins are self explanitory. they generally either look like a civilian, a rogue, or a special character u only see once in a blue moon.
so i guess you just have to decide, is he a knight or an assasin? because they are very different types of ppl, whitch will effect your story. so id say decide on that first, then concentrate on his appearance

We have reviewed the posts, and we have decided to have 2 main characters. One assasin and one knight. The knight is overly chilvalrous, and the assasin is way too laid back. They will come together to form a partnership on the run from a corrupt government, and eventually, work together to topple it.

a assasin and a knight......seems like the Ragnarok manga (the version i read anyway) but your story line is interestring.

Thank you Crag! Incorrect grammar is a growing problem in the world. We that have the knowledge should enlighten others who don't!

On another note, the govt. in our manga shall be a monarchy. I need some more opinions, though. Should the king be corrupt, or should a number of his advisors be the evil ones?

well, it could be hard to explain to a mere mortle though.

(Is it just me, or is the "mear" spelling ugly?.. I mean... sure, it's acceptable.. and so is "meer"... but doesn't "mere" just look more correct?)

this topic reminds me of an idea i had for an anime, tell me what you think:
a gaijin animator trying to make it as an anime animator in japan! he works for, lets say, gainax, and is plagued every day by an overbearing boss (art director)
indifferent staff and 1 or 2 loving and understanding co-workers.....i see a comedy masterpiece! muhahahahaha.......baka gaijin, cant get it right but is very talented, and several feet taller than everyone else..... i was gonnna save this idea for when i actually made it to japan, but what the hell.... baka gaijin is several feet taller than everyone else, ( im 6'6" ) and has trouble fitting into his cramped cubicle, speaks garbled nihongo and, is always on a stressfull deadline to get his drawings done on time. there are several sub-plots, but i thought it would be hilareous.....

I think that has the roots of a great comedy! Keep working on you plot.
