What's so great about j-music anyway?

What exactly atracts you about this type of music?
I never got it why so many people simply love this stuff.

It's because it's different. It's something new. I started to like it, because of X Japan. When i discovered them they seemed awesome to me. I was obsessed lol. I still like them a lot, but i don't listen to them very much lately. But when i do, i'm happy that i know such a good band.

I don't know exactly why i like Jrock that much. Maybe it's because i'm opened minded? Many people don't like it because they sing in japanese. I've sent my friend a few from DeG and she said that it bothers her, because they sing in Japanese and she can't understand it. On the other side she listens songs in Finnish. Which she can't understand either >,<

I like it because of Visual Kei also. It's amazing! Guys dressing up and playing on stage... i love it. But then again it's something in the music that makes me wanna hear it over and over again, it makes me wanna sing along. And thats emotion.

Anchyyy: I agree with what u say... I like the japanese language itself and the visual kei style also attracted me to them at first cos they looked really cool... After which, I started to listen to their music and find them good so yea, that's about it... X)

I can't say I like j-music in general more or less than any other country's music, but I do love visual kei. When I was a child I liked New Romantic bands, and as I got older I moved on to hair metal and gothic rock. I still like all that old music I used to listen to. But when grunge became popular, I lost interest in trying to find new music until I stumbled across visual kei while visiting a friend in Japan. Visual kei seemed to combine the best features of everything I liked in the past -- the romantic melodies of New Wave, the hard edge of metal, and the exotic darkness of goth.

Mhh thats a very good question why i like J-music. For my i think the language is important. I think japanse it self is a beautiful language. And i like the music more.. i dont know, thay have great rhythm. And I like the visual kei style as well. I think that japanese artist show more of them self. They really care about they fans. I like them also as person because of that. And that something i never saw before with english artist for example

I started to get interested in J-music because I was interested in Japan in general and in Japanese language. So I did some research and stumbled on some really good rockbands that are quite similair to americain rockbands (Ellegarden, Asian Kung-Fu Generation) and some other very good artists. Bands like Dir en grey however are absolutely not my style of music. I dont really mind the Visual Kei style (only dont know what is so attractive to a bunch of men looking like women ?! Where is the logic ? hehe), allthough most Visual Kei groups havent really impressed me yet except for X Japan ofcourse..

Firstly I agree with all the people before me.
My whole interest in Japan started with some Anime-series my cousin made me to watch..after that I was interested in Mangas and soon in Japan by itself. For me their life, culture, religion and language is really interesting. About one year ago my friend showed me j-rock and I just got caught. Of course I don't understand most of the lyrics, but the music succeds in bringing all the emotions to the audience by it's melody and intonation. You can feel the happiness, desperate, etc. even when you can't understand the lyrics. You can see that they enjoy what they do, love their fans and music and don't just make music, because they want to earn money. I never felt so much for music before. Music is my whole life (I play two instruments and I sing) and j-rock makes me happy every single day. I went through some hard times since I've known j-rock but it always helped me to go through it. It's kinda hard to explain but I have the true feeling that this music is different from other country's music. Also I feel a strong connection between me and the stars through their comments, tours, diaries, etc. which I didn't feel to many other western stars. I feel being noticed and needed as a fan for the band, what makes me happy.
Plus I made some really nice friends through this music who helped me a lot so far and who give me the power to go through difficult times. I'm really thankfull I discovered j-rock.

I wouldn't say i like 'japanese music' specifically as such... simply i like some kinds of pop, rock and metal bands .. .. of course there is lots of japanese music i don't like either The j-music i like, its really of the similar kind to the non-j-music i like... ^^...

The first japanese songs that caught my ears, however, they catched me because they did have a different kind of sound to the music i was used to.. i dunno y but maybe sg to do with the intervals used in those particular songs? :? (they were malice mizer songs)... they combined classical influences with goth and rock style in a way i hadn't heard in non-j-music... but that maybe was just a consequence of my ignorance rather than a specific thing about j-music - and it was just a co-incidence that my mind-opening songs happened to be japanese.

Im starting with J-HipHop/J-Jazz i hope we will bring joy with our songs in belgium, im so happy i found a friend who can sings very good japanese! he's teaching me to sing the songs and he says that im doing it pretty good

I like music, it's very fun and realxing to hear, what i listen is J-pop (i used to hear to J-hiphop but since a quarrel with a band that i know i've changed my genre) so now i like j-pop a lot and i must say they have nice music

I'd have to agree it's different, plus they're always seems to be something uniquely different in Japan. Whenever I thought I knew the music, bang there's another band who are new or have been around for years and years. XD
