(Wrapping myself up in a shroud of nostalgia)
Now that you have put such a fine thread together, I wonder if you all can help me remember. In my young years (during the 80's) I remember watching four series, three of which I'm fairly certain was anime, the third I'm not so sure. Series like Thundercats and the likes not included, of course.
Anyway, one was Starzinger (aka. Starkeeters in the US I think, dunno if the japanese name is different). This series got really big in sweden among the kids. Another was Galaxy Express 666 (or maybe it was 999). I remember it was a train going through space in it, and all sorts of (for me, then) scary things happened in and around it.
Then there are two series I don't know the name of, the real ones anyway.
One took place in the dinosour age, and was about a boy named Ruy (or Ryu?) looking for his mother. I remember his greatest fear was a Tyrannosaurus Rex, which he ended up fighting a couple of times. It was called (direct translation from swedish to english) "Ruy - The caveboy" here. Anyone know this one? The other one, which I don't know if it actually was anime, either had the name "Odysseus" in its title, or it was about someone named odysseus. It was a space adventure sort of anime, at least, and the story probably had
some kind of connection with greek mythology. Anyone?

I remember I did cry in the ending of both Starzinger and that Ruy anime. Those "happy-but-still-not-very-happy" melancholic endings was too much for little me.
I also remember my sister was watching some series called Candy Candy, and another one I don't remember.
