Boy x boy - why is it sexy?

Good point furan. I wonder why some Christians make such a big fuss of homosexuality - it was only mentioned in 3 verses as far as I know, or a very few anyway, 2 were about old laws in the old testament which are no more. The very important things of Christianity were mentioned over & over again, such as feeding the poor, etc. It doesn't seem very high on God's priority list. I think certain people have their own agendas.

Also other cultures & religions have their taboos as well. Ang Lee joked about 1000 years of Chinese repression, or something like that. It seems Japan has been isolated and developed their own values to an exent. Not that I know anything.

I think the Japanese must have some taboos about it, since the film I rented with samurai love is called "Taboo". Also that book by Yukio Mishima called "Forbidden Colors" It's a pain being taboo, but on the other hand it - more fun and rebellious!

But on the other hand I read about it being more accepted in the olden days of Samurai and so perhaps there's a tradition of acceptance of gaity too.

I will finish replying to isayhellos post:

But sex has been, and is still in many ways, sort of taboo in JApan And that is why, I think, there is also such a massive industry for the same; sex - or porn. If you can't have something, and want it really bad, once you get your hands on it - you might want it soo much you'll exaggerate it.

Interesting point there, I think that's true. And if you're not having enough sex then perhaps you have to rely on your imagination - hence all the variations and story telling and weird fetishes perhaps.

I think the whole taboo-thing on the sex subject, that has existed in Japan, shaped the japanese peoples image of sex; - As something exciting (well, that's not strange, it IS exciting! :p ) as something secret, but at the same time as something that can give you a chance to let go of your morals and/or restrictions. For examlpe, many swedish people I've discussed this with all say they think the japanese have a very childish view on sex, and on erotics, but then at the same time enjoy very wierd sexual adventures in Love Hotels and have some of the most twisted sex-fetishes in the world
.

I see how the taboo thing could have that effect - I think you may be right. Very interesting. I wonder the reasons why they think the japanese have a more childish view on sex? I don't know much about Swedish ideas on sex so it's hard to compare. (I think americans can be pretty childish about sex)

I'd say, it seems as if - even though some japanese fetishes are very very extreme, the japanese have still kept their sort of... liking for the innocent. Some would argue (my mom 😌 ) that this makes the japanese even more perverted - as they're into the whole lolita-innocense, but at the same time would loove to watch the very same tiny lolita getting raped by an octupus.

I think some people may like the more conservative thing as a reaction against all the taboo stuff. I think people want taboo stuff, but that turns other people off and they go more conservative, and that makes the taboo people want to rebel and be more taboo-ish. At least I get that idea in America with the religious conservatives vs. the more sexually liberated. I guess it may have that effect on me too, when I see too much childish stuff like on MTV, it makes me want to be more sophisticated and swear less, because it's so overdone and simplistic. If you're going to use a swear word at least attempt to use it in a clever or unexpected way, I think. Ozzie has mastered the art of f this f that all over the place, and only he seems to be funny at it. (even so it gets annoying with his bleeping too) So I think the dynamics of the whole thing - the taboo as reaction against the conservative, and the conservative/liberal clash or whatever else may another thing - at least I get that impression sometimes in about america.

It's complicated and you bring up much food for though isayhello. I will have to retreat to my laboratory to ponder these things...I'm sure it will help me take over the world somehow, if I can figure it out....

The same goes for the strange and very-difficult-to-understand fascination for panties. I mean; there are tons of homepages filled with paparazzi-shots of girls accidentally letting their skirt slip up to show the panties, and even MORE actual porn-pics where the girl in question has been asked to simply let her panties show vaguely from under her skirt. This sort of sneak-and-peek porn is majorly popular in Japan. I know of no other country where this porn is popular among the great masses, this sort of fetish is usually only common amongst pedophiles. But in Japan, the normal, non-phedophilistic man can find this sort of thing amazingly sexy.

It seems the panty fascination, when not a pedophilic thing, seems almost more sophisticated, because you are just hinting there and it's not all out in the open. Sometimes it just seems cute. Although it's weird when it's schoolgirls. Schoolgirls are great because they're so sweet and innocent - so why ruin it? The panty thing seems alot better than that "Girls Gone Wild" stuff. I mean, once you see everybody naked and the sex act like in porn what is left? Like that Pulp song "And then it's over - what do you do for an oncore?" It's just not very interesting at all. What puzzles me is why hollywood porn is so popular, so boring. I think that's more childish too. At least with Japan porn you get a story I think. (not that I've seen any - just going with hearsay) It may yuck me out like any other, don't know.

One thing interesting is that more porn is geared toward women there it seems, so perhaps women in Japan are more liberated in that way.

😌 Jeez, I don't even know why the hell I'm writing this - everyone probably started scrolling by this post about a million years ago...😊

No not at all, I think you shed some new light on a puzzling situation. I think it's very interesting. (but I hope I didn't post too many posts all at once and bore people - when I get behind the conversation I catch up and then there's a string of posts by me and hope it doesn't ruin the continuity)

I couldn't say what the reason is. I think there are many. One thing I've noticed, though, is that japanese people, and the whole of japanese society, has a huge obsession for youth.

Yeah we had an obsession for youth once - it was called the 60's and we got over it. LOL (Esp as the young then are getting older now.) Young people are great and I like them - it's just that people are interesting at any age I think. There's so much I can learn from any age... Although I have many very young friends (starting around age 6) to older ones.

... you're not crazy? ... I'd rather say we're all crazy! ... but then again, nah! I, for one, am completely sane.
... ☝
*starts dancing on the table wearing a clown-mask*
Did I mention I was sane?

LOL :D !

p.s. thanks again guys for your help with quotes

I'm reviving old threads today :-)
I am probably seriously rehashing here but I don't care.
Okay, Yaoi and Shounen-ai (I'm going to include Yuri and Shoujo-ai in this as well) aren't excepted in many countries because of taboo and social stigma around the subject. People also tend to think homosexuality = AIDS which is not true, straight people can get HIV AIDS and STDs just as easily as gays. There is also the religous and "moral" issues as well. I do think it's strange that Christians put so much strain on homosexuality being wrong. Maybe it scares them, I don't know. I do know that people tend to hate what is most in themselves. Hmmm, makes one wonder.
Stories about gays (especially those that originate in Japan) tend to be more about love then sex (although sex is something that is dealt with in the stories). Which is the very thing most homophobes can't get their brains around. All they hear when you say "homosexual" is the sexual part. Most people refuse to believe that love could have anything to do with it. Because if they did they'd have to admit that love is not wrong. Which is why they shy away from reading/watching anything to do with homosexuality and brand it "sinful" or taboo. Homophobia has a lot to do with ignorance.
I honestly don't see how the idea of two women or two men having sex is any more disturbing then the idea of a man and a woman having sex. Sex is sex no matter what your gender is. I also don't see how love between two women or two men is any different then love between a man and a woman. Love is love no matter the gender.
They say a man and woman having sex isn't wrong because "that's how God intended it" but if that's so why'd he make it even possible then for people of the same gender to have sex and it be just as "good"?
The argument of it being "unnatural" doesn't wash either. There are just as many gay animals as people. It's in the Animal Kingdom, it's a part of nature. Get over it.

Now to address the issue of sexuality in gen. in Japan. I would say myself that the Japanese are far more mature as far as sexual matters go. It's still beauitful to them. Whereas say in the States it's smut, smut, smut, smut, smut. In some ways the Japanese are more reserved concerning it, respectful almost. They don't talk about it because they don't need to. Whereas over here you see it and hear about it EVERYWHERE. The USA is actually the closeted one although we think it otherwise. We over do it, try too hard to seem un-closeted. The Japanese have no such need. I think saying sex is still taboo in Japan is going a bit far. They don't feel the need to blast it over loud speakers, 'tis true, but that doesn't equal taboo.

I broke up with my ex.bf over this issue. I was sick of him going on about homosexuality since I have a few friends who are. I accused him of being a narrowminded homophobic and you know what he said? "I'm not homophobic. A phobia is to be unreasonably afraid of something. I'm not scared of them. I just feel pure hatred towards them."

He had the guts to continue on about homophobics have no 'life' in the area of reproduction and that people like me who 'encourage' homosexuality are encouraging a threat to the extinction of humankind.

I think love is beautiful not matter what gender the other is and I'm not about to break up with friends who I've known for years just for a guy who've I've dated for a few months. Other conflicting views I can overlook and compromise with but he went too far with what he said.

Shounen-Ai...Yaoi...Well...I like it =3
*poeple stares*
Well I'm bisexual....so for me it's "okey" to like it 😊
But yeah..it is truly a shame that we can barely get ahold of Shounen-Ai/Yaoi mangas or animes in Sweden...
A friend of mine went to Japan and came back with a Shounen Ai anime...*jealous*

And elanor, I completely agree with you...
Love, no matter the gender, is always important...
And it was good that you broke up with him, I'd do the same...can't tolerate thoose sort of people...

i like more shounen-ai. its more cuter than yaoi(and i like almost everything what is cute:p )
once we were talking about shounen-ai and yaoi with my firends in our chemistry class, when boy from my class asked what yaoi is. we told that its a little like hentai(he likes hentai:eek: ) because our teacher was listening our conversation(she didint know what yaoi, shounen-ai and hentai are and we didnt want to say directly what yaoi is). The boy said that hes gonna find some yaoi and wathc it, so we asked if he could tell us on next day if he liked it.
On next day we were sitting on school stairs when he came to us curseing. He said that he wont ever again ask anything from us if he doesnt know what something is... he looked a little shocked then...
sorry about the bad explanation😌

I can't remember how to change my avatar or my siggy 😊

I don't think you inparticulary have to be homosexual to like yaoi, or just for the record, Yuri[is that what it is called?]. I mean like I like some yaoi, and I'm not gay.

just for the record, have nothign against homosexuals at all! :)

As a matter of fact, you may have noticed that most young women who like yaoi are usually heterosexual. Because that's who it's aimed at, heterosexual women. :-) 😊

I'm a guy, and I just find yaoi plain wrong. I have no objection to people watching it, just don't do it around me. ^_^

Then I'm guessing you never experienced watching gay porn before now have you?

Doc 🙂

Of course not. I am a straight, male. ^_^

speaking as a straight boy, boy x boy is disgusting. i CAN do girl x girl, like i want to watch bloom into you, which is girl x girl.

Can I give you a friendly suggestion: Please stop saying boy x boy is disgusting - use other phrasings. "It's not for me" or "it's not what I'm into".
Just because you don't like something doesn't mean it's disgusting. Plus it's super rude to the people who like it, including any gay guys around.
If you don't like yaoi, just refrain from watching it.

speaking as a human who has the freedom of speech and opinion; I will use my honest opinion. the truth isn't always easy to hear, trust me, I know. but i will not wilt like a flower with no backbone. I am entitled to my own opinion. I meant no offense to anyone, but i'm sorry if it came out that way. please do not bother me with this crap again. I'm pretty busy with my discord server and I don't have the time to listen to people get all mad for having an opinion.

No one is mad. They are suggesting that you use some tact and discretion. The fact that you find something is "disgusting" is the truth. Maybe somebody looks at your face and finds it disgusting. Is there any benefit to anybody for them to voice their truth? If it's somebody whose opinion you care about -- like a girl you like -- you'd surely feel bad to hear that. And them saying that reflects poorly on their character. Anyway you're old enough to understand how society works. Nobody needs to hear your honest opinions or truth if it's expressing prejudice against an entire class of people.

blud just skipped over my saying that I meant no offense and my apology if it came out like that. facepalm. also, words don't hurt me. they say my face is disgusting. me: okay, thanks for sharing.

I don't discriminate against the LGBT community. one of my best friends is lesbian, and another is bisexual. I respect them enough not to tell them that I think their choice is wrong. but they know I don't really like LGBT relations, even though I don't voice my concerns to them. so the fact that I think boy x boy is disgusting is an opinion that I am allowed to state and defend.

I skipped over it because that wasn't the point. Also even if it's true that you have no sensitivity to words that's also besides the point.
Just because something doesn't bother you doesn't mean you can just ignore the feelings of others.

Ok for this one I outsourced to AI.

Yes, saying "speaking as a straight boy, boy x boy is disgusting" is discriminatory and prejudiced against gay or bisexual individuals. Here's why:
This statement expresses a negative and derogatory view towards same-sex relationships between males, based solely on the speaker's heterosexual orientation. It implies that same-sex attraction is inherently "disgusting", which is an offensive prejudice against the LGBTQ community.
The statement perpetuates the marginalization and stigma that LGBTQ individuals face, contributing to an unwelcoming environment. It stems from heteronormative biases that view heterosexuality as the default or superior sexual orientation.
Such comments can be extremely hurtful to LGBTQ youth, who already face higher rates of discrimination, harassment, and mental health issues in schools and society. Bisexual people in particular may face discrimination from both straight and gay communities for not conforming to societal norms.

You just said you don't say anything to your friends about their orientation. Then why would you say something online?

You're a better, calmer person than I, @mdchachi
