What was the first anime you ever watched?

Although not the first anime that I ever watched 'Spirited Away' was deffinately the one that wacked me in the head and said watch more! :auch:
I hadn't watched any anime for a few years and then I picked that out from the video store....you can bet I was kicking myself for not paying attention to the genre after I realised how good it could actually be.
Since then though I've watched heaps....from mello romance types
to blood-splattering, brain-exploding ones. 
Ooops sorry for dribbling on with this :sorry: .....gone from a simple answer, to a life story

I forgot what it was called but i watched my first one a few years back.
It had androids and stuff like that it was pretty good.

Oh, man... The very first anime I ever watched... Hard question.
I cannot remember, I was a little child back then.
In the late '70s lots of anime series arrived on tv (italy), the first I do remember are Gundam, Ryu and Tiger Mask...
Unfortunately, I'm still far addicted to anime, after almost 30 years

My first was the original Speed Racer, although i never knew it was anime. So really the first show i saw that i knew was anime was Pokemon. One of my first, more mature series was Outlaw Star, which I love. I also loved Gindam Wing.

"Speed Racer" or "Kimba the White Lion."
These names may not be correct, but the shows I remember from when I lived in Japan are "Gundam," "Space Ship Yamamoto," and "G-Force." I don't know if "G-Force" is the right name...there were 4 or 5 main characters that had some giant air/spacecraft that split up into smaller ones, all of which were shaped like birds.
Wait! I just remembered something that I haven't thought of for well over a decade: Raydeen! My brother and I had the giant Raydeen and Great Mazinga toys, as well as a smaller die-cast metal Raydeen (and many other similar toys).
That stuff was great!

Oh, right. I forgot about DBZ. I liked it up until the Buu saga, then it got repetetive. Another one was Digimon, liked it until the third season.

I think it might have been "mysterious cities of gold" way back in the 80's, you should have left out TV series 
Film wise it must have been Laputa followed a few years later by Fist of the North Star.
(which I thought were made in America, I didn't even know Japan existed)

Thundercats? I've always wondered, is it really anime? Some of it looks anime, but alot of it looks American, like it was a fusion of the two.

I think the first Anime I actually went out on my own and watched was "Spirited Away".
I downloaded it one day, and was greatly inspired by Miyazaki. I then moved through all of his earlier works, and just 2 nights ago finished Tonari no Totoro.
I also, just today watched Cowboy Bebop, Tengoku no tobira, and well... Vincent Volaju -- is my sign ups inspiration. I would love to hear any suggestions you folks would have... though I'm not into watching episode based shows, since I can't spend too much time for a show -- and if I got into it, I would!!!
My friends really like - initial D. Drift racers.

the first anime i ever watched was...... :? :? thats a toughy lol
i think it was called nimo . it was an old anime movie that i loved becuase it was magical and different from american cartoons.

Is this, then, actually "anime?" In some ways, of course it is! In other ways, it's not. I'm not the anime fan that you guys are so, in the absence of any formal, widely agreed-upon definition of "anime," I would tend towards Vengeful Ronin's suggestion:
