Of course, some claimed that the countryside sale in Japan is really incredible... at 80-90% off! But I don't want to travel to the countryside just to buy some off-season cheap clothes...

Haha. I just can't get enough of of the way you portray excitement so perfectly. Have you ever considered doing anime? Also, do you do any other sorts of art? Maybe concept art?

I always have problem disposing those "special trash" in Japan...always forget to throw them on the right day...

Pretty much all cell phones have a scheduling feature. I set mine to remind me to throw out certain trash on certain days with a ring and a message the day before.

For your next comic, I suggest one about how the Japanese sort their trash but in fact, some of it does not get recycled. They just burn it. People wash things like plastic containers meticulously, and stack and tie everything neatly...and they just burn it with the rest of the garbage. Its freaking insane.

I used to do 3D modeling and texture, but basically the job can be contracted to cheaper countries like Korea, so future job prospect wasn't so bright for me. Moreover, I preferred to do my own ideas XD

Hey thanks for your comments! At first, I thought they did a proper job of recycling everything. Then I heard from my Japanese classmate, who used to work in insurance, told me that his client who does this recycling thing said that actually everything is burnt! So I was like in shock for a few days... wondering about it. Actually I used to separate the recyclable plastics and leave it out on the recyclable trash day, but... they didn't collect it TWICE! So I got kinda fed up and put everything as combustible ever since except for paper. So what my friend said sorta make sense...

At the moment I've got about 8 years of experience with Photoshop and I've been branching out to After Effects a bit. Ultimately, I'd love to become a cinematic effects designer or something of the sort.

I'm not sure if you want to venture into the VFX industry, as you know, even top studio like Rhythm and Hues went bankrupt.
VFX jobs demand long working hours and stamina which I don't have. But one of my friend is proud that he is working for a big studio and his name appeared in Transformers credits, which is only noticed by themselves... Many artists get burnt out eventually and became teachers in art schools. That's because If you aren't promoted to a director post, you would be competing with many junior artists that are full of energy and stamina to do work round the clock. Eventually, the studio sees you as a slow and expensive artist to keep and ask you to leave... ...

Thanks a bunch for that bit of info! I've done quite a bit of research on the topic of the crazy competition in the field and I'm not completely sure if I'm equipped to handle it just yet (especially since I'd like to live in Japan if I end up enjoying it there), so I'm keeping myself a little open. At the moment, I want to branch off and become really skilled in photography, VFX and maybe some 3D modelling on the side. I used to toy around with ZBrush myself. My goal is to be able to make a whole film project on my own including 3D models, VFX and stock textures/footage. Of course, I'm also in a few classes to refine my Photoshop as well.

That link is very useful though! I'll have to give this a lot more consideration.

Some businesses in Japan do the exact same thing. Men's clothing stores and cheapo furniture stores especially.

Yes there are readers in my FB page who feedback that some Japanese stores do the same thing, not many though.
But where I stay, they close for real!
I could actually see them trying hard to slash prices (still expensive), then their stock was reduced gradually... and then finally the metal shutters come down.

You know, it's really hard not to love everything I hear about Japan just by virtue of it being Japanese. That has it's exceptions, obviously -- I don't assume for a second Japan is perfect. Still though, there are so many nuances about Japanese culture that I read about and they seem to focused on honesty, modesty, being helpful, etc. That, or it's just a shock to think that a place where business people won't try to bend you over for every penny to your name through trickery actually exists!
