The Bummer and Rant Thread

OH NO !!! What a bad day too!! Especially about your good friend.

Please don't give yourself a hard time about that incident of unexpected wind...nature has a way of just being, shall we say, natural. You have your credit in complete tact I'd say, because of your record against nature--which includes most unforeseen occurances.

It's not your fault, Uncle Frank. Don't give yourself a hard time, please !! MM

Awww Frank! :( But it wasn't your fault at all! ☝ Don't beat yourself up over it! No one can help some occasional accident happening.

I hope your charge is alright now though?

I'm having a really sucky time at the moment... my partner is not very well at all... and keeps coming to me, which is totally fine because I'd rather be able to keep an eye on him, but I am worried about him... :(

Yo, Uncle Frank! Don't beat yourself up over what happened to your charge. Accidents happen, no matter how much we try to prevent them. You couldn't have forseen a freak occurance like that happening. As long as he came through okay, that's the important thing. As for your friend in Florida, hopefully he'll pull through.

Thanks for the kind thoughts!

Nothing like friends to pick you up when you are feeling down, thanks so much!

Uncle Frank

:-)

this is a great idea you have Doc, although at the moment I've nothing to rant about =P

Heeeeeeeeey X-kun! You are back! *tackles* :p

(Ummmm, that's not a bummer or rant by the way... 🙇‍♂️ :D)

Hope you gave him a good punch back

A bit of a bummer today. I came home and found that Winston, the cat in my avatar, died whilst sleeping in front of the fire. The vet reckons it was either a stroke or a heart attack. I suppose 14 is a good age for a cat, but he wasn't our oldest. Silas, the oldest at 17, was a little distressed at it and is now wandering around the house.

My condolences over the loss of Winston. My oldest cat is 12 and the youngest (who still plays like a kitten) is 10.

As an obsessed cat lover I feel your pain. I make my cat promise everyday she will not die before me, would be lost without her. I waited 3 weeks and then just had to replace my first cat I lost.Sorry mate!

OH NO!! I am sorry to hear that, Mycernius. I feel for you, and hope that Silas can come to grips with it. Our cats are fine here now...still plenty young enough but our dog, Poochy, somehow got off the leash this past late December and wandered off without us knowing it. She was almost 15 years old. We went to look for her, but never caught sight of her and she never came back. Sometimes animals know, and have a way of going away to die alone.

Will you get another cute little kitty?

Thanks to all of you. Might not get another one for a while. I have two more cats and a dog. Winston was the middle one of the cats. Our youngest, Nermal (10) doesn't seem that bothered and the dog is just being a typical dog, just wants to play with her chew toys. She is 7.

Awww, I am really sorry about your cat. :( It's too sad....
I am so used to seeing him on your avatar...

@ Moffeltoff: 😲 how could they?! Hope you are ok now... :auch:

My condolences on the loss of Winston. I so enjoyed seeing him as your avatar picture. I hope you'll keep him there as a memorial. Pets are far more than that, they become members of the family, so when they pass away, the pain can be quite keen. As long as you have fond memories of your years with Winston, then he'll live on in your mind and heart.

Well his girlfriend split up with him and he got a black eye out of it so it was worth it^^

I wanted to have lasik on my eyes because I can't see very well. I never wore any of the glasses that were supposed to correct my vision because they made the world look like I was seeing through a goldfish bowl and the soft contacts, although they were comfortable, didn't correct my eyesight and really didn't help, so I have just adjusted to seeing the world in soft focus or to be honest, blurry. I finally got up the courage to have lasik done. I was so happy at the thought of seeing the world clearly, finally! Well they found that I have an eye disease that thins the cornea so I can't have lasik! I have to hard contact lenses to correct my eyesight if I really want to see and prevent further progression of the disease. I have these awful lenses on my eyeballs right now and they feel like giant rocks and they don't fit right, because I have exceptionally large pupils, (who knew that could be a problem) so I can see the edge of the lense and it makes a blurry circle aroud everything. I am supposed to keep wearing them to get used to the feeling and they have a larger set of lenses ordered. I leave for Japan on Tuesday, and I have decided to not bother with bringing these lenses along...why bother when they make my eyesight terrible. I will just see the world blurry, but that makes me sad. I wish I had normal eyes and I wish all the eye doctors that I went to for years would've actually taken the time to figure out what was wrong with my eyes. I have had 20 years of blurred vision and the lasik Doctor figured out my problem in less than 5 minutes! Ok, sorry to be ranting so much....I am just very disappointed.

Got my gas bill yesterday, and much to my shock (but not surprise as I half saw this coming), it was a whopping $235.00! YOW!! Normally, the average cost each month is around $60.00. Thanks to all the dreadfully cold days we've had here in Philly, heating the house cost a little more this month than normal. And it was that expensive even though I haven't touched the thermometer which hasn't seen the high side of 64. Paying that bill won't be any fun at all! Spring and summer, wherefore art thou?

Just got out of the Hospital in Tokyo. I have type A influenza. No Disney tomorrow...nothing for the next 5 days minimum. :( I will say that the Doctor was very kind, even though he didn't speak english he made me very comfortable inspite of being so sick I didn't care if I died! Now to bed....

JEEEZZZZ Goldiegirl!!!!

You have some of the worst luck! Hope you feel better soon, don't want to waste those Japanese moments.

Uncle Frank

😌

Ya know Uncle Frank, If I didn't have bad luck I wouldn't have any luck at all! sniff sniff....cough....

Sorry to hear that for both of you Flashjeff and Goldiegirl.

Our electricity bill has been higher the last months because of the cold (well cold... in Japanese houses it can be cold).

I don't have a lot of bummers or rants, beside the fact that I am a bit in the stress of finding a job for 1.5 month from April.

Well, unlike the electric bill which remains fairly static (around $60.00, give or take five to ten bucks) month after month, the gas bill goes up and down like a roller coaster based on the season. During winter, it can be ridiculously high when I need to heat the house, and the scary part is that I haven't touched the thermostat all winter long. But during summer, I haven't had to pay a thing.

Dutch: The stress of looking for a job and not finding one can be a bummer. I've been there, done that, and it's no fun!

My boyfriend is suffering from depression and anxiety attacks, and he said he wanted to break up with me because he "didn't deserve" me and didn't want to put me through the pain of him being ill. I think I managed to 'convince' him that at least I do not want to break up... and he does not really either, I know it, he says he loves me and I believe him... and I love him... so then... it would be stupid for two people to break up for such a reason... ☝... just because someone is ill doesn't mean you stop loving them... you don't only care for someone when things are easy... of course it hurts to see someone you love suffer, but does that mean you should never allow yourself to love anyone? I think not!

Anyway I think we will be OK but it breaks my heart to hear him talk like that... 😭 ... but I am not going to let him go that easy!
