What is the most disapointing anime/s you have seen so far?

This is just a curiosity thread, but what is the most disapointing anime/s you have seen so far? Mine would have to be Final Fantasy Unlimited, i've always been a big fan of many of the final fantasy games out there so when i heard that there was a final fantasy anime series coming to the UK i was really looking forward to it. The things that really disapointed me about the series, well...Almost everything really; the battle scenes were boring, repetitive and often pointless, the story line/plot was just basically crap- it didn't really have a plot so to speak and it never really went anywhere and the concepts were often very unoriginal.
The characters(good and bad guys plus extras) were predictable/unoriginal and their voices were often very irritating- i really felt with this anime that they were just milking the final fantasy brand name far too much to rely on it selling, as apart from its title i realised that there was nothing else it had to offer me in comparsion to far greater anime series. For a 7yr old that never knew the once greatness of final fantasy's past, or what makes a good anime, this might have been mildly entertaining. But otherwise, no.

Another anime that i found disapointing, although im sure there will be many that disagree with me, was Full Metal Panic. After seeing the adds/promotions and reading a couple of reviews, i was sort of expecting a serious and inventive anime- i certainly dont feel i got that with full metal panic when i watched it, maybe i should have known better, but that was my experience of it- i guess it was the unoriginality of the storys and characters and storys, and the fact that i didn't find it very funny/amusing, that bored/fustrated me the most.

Eh, enough of my rant, how about you guys/girls? Whats the most disapointing anime you have seen so far?
 
I could say Full Metal Panic as well. My brother built it up for days, and when I got around to watching it, I was bored stiff. Chock full of tiresome and reptitive anime stereotypes.

I remember being pretty disappointed at Love Hina Again. I found much of the story convoluted and poorly executed, and the characters were mere shadows of themselves and seemed like they were going through the motions.
 
Gasaraki. I dunno. The first ep seemed pretty noir --- dark.
Kiddy Grade. Eclair's ending. I was surprised at that twist.
 
I agree with the both of you, with Full Metal Panic! I remeber over the winter break, I watched around eight episodes straight and than awaited a full week for teh next episode and, I couldn't really continue wathcing it. I forced myself through it, it kinda gets repitive with the whole I am a Army guy, I don't know anything other than to fight.

Full Metal Alchemist. It got waaaaay too much hype and I don't think it was that godly aseveryone says it was. Trust me, it was good but not the best of its times. Some of the episodes, dragged out a bit, and than when FMA wanted to be good it became good. The bad ending contributes a lot to this too.
 

I agree, although i dont mind typical anime character steriotypes as long as they are done well and are amusing or thought inspiring or somthing similar, for example im a big fan of fruits basket and although it had alot of typical anime character steriotypes, i found it very enjoyable.
Full metal panic was just plain stupid alot of the time, half the time i couldn't make out wether it was trying to be a serious anime or a comedy, and it repeated such really bad steriotypical anime scenes like "Guy accidently walks into girls changing room while they are barely dressed and they throw pants at him and/or scream" or "Tough unemotional guy gets embarassed around cutesy female character all the time and keeps on ending up in embarrasing situations with her" or "Big ego guy obsessed with dating women is actually really bad at pulling them, ha ha ha..." ...

I didn't find Love hina too bad, it was alright to chill out to at times...I agree its story line was all over the place even when you watched the episodes in order, which is what annoyed me the most, it was like it was trying too hard cover up its own predictable story ending or somthing, i do agree though, that although i think it had some very promising characters, they could have been done better- i dont think Love Hina is half as bad as or as big a dispointment as Full Metal Panic though.
 

Just so we're clear, I was talking about Love Hina Again, which is the OVA sequel to the Love Hina TV series. I liked Love Hina TV just fine.
 
Chobits, Digi Charat (they looked cute, it turned out bad for me), Tactics (haruka was weaker then I read)

Anything with "Full Metal" in it. Panic wasn't what I expected and Alchemist was so incredibly overhyped to where it didn't live up to expectations. I thought Tenjho Tenge would be good, but that bombed too. Ditto for R.O.D. The TV. I gave up on all of those series after the first volume. Hare-Guu was different though, I gave up on that after the first episode! What a waste of time, and money!

 

What was Hare-Guu about? Sounds pretty disapointing for it to be given up on the first episode :? .
 
Well, it's kinda hard to explain, but it's about a boy named Hare who lives in a goofy tropical paradise with his mom and a small town of people. One day, fo no good reason Hare's mom adopts a cute little girl named Guu, but whenever mom isn't around Guu reveals her true colors: a sharp tongued monster in disguise who eats anything, and I do mean ANYTHING and has an entire world right out of a Dali painting inside her stomach, including a couple of teenagers who don't mind their predicament. The plot of it show is Guu's constant torment of Hare who's the only one who knows what she is. It's supposed to be a comedy, but it left me cold after just the first episode and I gave up on it. In short, it's nothing much to write about. URGH!
 
im gonna get a wee bit old on this and say Legend of the four kings.For those who dont have a clue what im on about,It was a story of four brothers who were actually the reincarnations of four Dragon spirit kings and they lived in mordern day japan and when they needed to could call upon the power of the dragon spirits and turn into dragons. Sounds great to me but alas no it was poo beyond poo a real let down after such a great idea it turned into kiddie crap half way through.
 
No-one's probably going to like me after I say this, but I was very dissapointed with Neon Genesis Evangelion. It was good for the first 12/13 episodes, after that, it felt like they'd fired the guy who did the first half and got some-one else to do the rest. I got bored with it after the 12/13, I still bought it all and the movies, I just couldn't bring myself to like it... oh, and Nadesico, good series, yet crapo end.
 
thats a bold statement Zen ah well people are well entitled to their opinion I loved Evangelion by far my favourite anime of all time unlike most Eva Nutso's i aint gonna chew yer head off for not liking it...you should see what happend to the last guy who told a friend of mine it sucked he didnt walk for quite some time afterwards
 
I also loved NGE, it's so deep and there's so many symbols, that everytime I watch it I learn more and more.. but the ending of the series was ****.

But the movies fixed that ending right up for me

also I liked FMA.. but the ending was also bad. The ending really ruined the series for me.. and then I watched the FMA movie. and again. It fixed up

Naruto (anime) really disapointed me, by getting so borning!
also bleach =( I don't even have the effort to download it anymore...
 
disappointments

I found alot of animes to be disappionting FF unlimted, tenge tenjou and marchen(marz) which battles are fairly easy. I also find myself disappionted with certain parts of animes like the end of kenshin where they use mostly real pictures for the backgrounds only on this is only on the last episode 195.
 
I was really dissapointed in Appleseed.........The animation was okay but, the story wasn't really my thing. You've seen the story before. It was kinda lame.
 
I remember seeing this years ago. I thought the ending kinda, well, sucked
 
Ooo, I still have that on VHS, it did start cool, but after ep 6, it went downhill. And in the end, it was all a dream... at least in the English version I watched, no idea about the j-original.
 
Ghost in the Shell. It was greatly built up by the people I know, and when I saw it, it just didn't do it for me. It's too vague and it lacks the emotions to make it powerful. The concept is a good one, but it was poorly executed.

Yeah, I couldn't beleive NGE--after hearing so much about it and getting "whiny kid with mecha." I watched the second one out of a misplaced hope that it would get better, but no--even Misato's bath scene couldn't save that show.
 
I watched Weather Report Girl last night. That's an hour-and-a-half of my life I'll never be getting back....
 
I found "Love Hina" to be fluffy but enjoyable despite the obvious manipulative stretching of the development of Keitarou and Naru's relationship. "Love Hina Again" was ridiculous, as I recall.

I must disagree about "Evangelion," however. That point where the show starts switching gears is where the show truly begins. As a good friend of mine once said, "Evangelion" is not about giant killer robots. I suppose you can try to watch it like that, but I expect that the ultimate result of that would usually be the sentiments mentioned above. Of course, this kind of intensive character study series is not for everybody and I can see why some folks would find the shift in tone to be too severe.
 
I probably mentioned this somewhere else, but in most cases, the disappointment in an anime series comes on the back end with endings that are either contrived, confusing, disappointing or just plain BAD!!!! In that vein, there were more than plenty I've watched with endings that left a bad taste in my mouth, thus the disappointment. And yes, for me, that included Evangelion.

 
Does Pokemon even count as anime? 'Cause that's five or six years of my life I now have to shut out of my brain. Ugh. (This is also counting the original Japanese one, not the Satan Spawn of a dub)
