The Bummer and Rant Thread

Well, I don't know if this qualifies as a rant, but I was kinda bummed at having officially received verification yesterday that I'm old----I got a membership form from AARP! Yikes!!!

:D

Yeah, I'm going to rant that I am kinda bummed that tower dot com has not fulfilled my order yet from back in mid November of 2008. I've back and forth emailed them 2 times already. Next time I will show them I am serious. I will call them collect on their 800 number. thanks for listening.

Ugh, im about to attach a weight to my neck and jump into a lake or a river.
I've been sitting here learning contract rules since I have returned from my tutorial at 14:00, not its 02:00 roughly, and im still sitting here labouring. This is just so bloody miserable. I've had three cans of dodgy noname energy drink (250ml) and two cans of Relentless (500ml). Now needless to say, I feel like puking.

You're in Scotland. Stuff the relentless and just go down town, bum out and drink an absolute barrel load of beer, whisky or whatever takes your fancy. You might regret it in the morning, but every now and then you need a sod it day. You're a student, your supposed to do long study hours, then get rat-arsed and eat nothing but baked beans :)

^ Seconded! ;-)

My bummer is that within 2 weeks I've managed to not get 2 jobs I applied for - I wasn't particularly bothered about either of them, but it doesn't do the self-esteem any good. :-(

Ahahahaha. Thank you. I'll keep that advice. Bake beans... whenever I imagine bake beans before me, my legs start to shake. I survived the first semester on bake beans and noodles.

Thank you.

Just attribute it to the economic depression. If politicians worldwide can explain everything with the economic depression, why couldn't you? :D

I have not seen that yellow ball in the sky for almost two freaking weeks now (and it's forecast to be like this for at least another week), and it's starting to really put me on edge. I feel like I'm going to snap at the next person or thing that looks at me funnily. My feet are cold, and it is weeks like this that remind me of how much Seattle truly sucks. Unfortunately I can't move anywhere else, because I probably wouldn't be able to find a job.

"spring" is an alien concept here, it's just more of winter, albeit with sideways rain. What really makes it suck is that just about anywhere has better weather than this. It's 1:24 pm and it's 42F (5.6C), cloudy, and raining. Like it has been for almost the past two weeks now.

Personal bummer in that I've been so gosh darn busy, I can't seem to find the time to swing by here. I feel so bad about that too!

My rant is about work and the jerks I call co-workers.

For the past week my friend and I have been getting truck loads of dirt kicked in our faces. Being the lowest ranking cooks (prep/back-up) in the kitchen we catch the blame for anything and everything.

When the night crew uses the last of the pizza dough without ordering more who's fault is it? The night lead? No, he's been there too long to make such a amature mistake. The night crew? Oh no, they can do no wrong. They are the better crew after all. :auch: The day lead? He has far too much to do to ever need to worry about dough. How about the prep-cooks? That's it! Justin and his friend can't do anything right without someone to babysit them.

Another time the night crew cleaned out the cooler station for the salad area. That's good, right? Nope, they switched out all the food items into new containers without putting new date tags on them. So the lead cook for my shift spent twenty minutes ripping me a new one over it. I told him it wasn't my fault, but he told me there was a note from the night crew complaining about the containers lacking date tags. Add ten more minutes of butt chewing and then five more when my friend came back. She was lucky and got the short version. :p

Today I was just doing my job and the night crew was getting ready to take over. So for about an hour I was stuck with the night lead and his pet cook (same rank as me, but on the night crew).

The lead started giving me guff right off the bat. One of my duties before I leave is to get things clean and ready to go for the night guys. I was sweeping up the line (didn't want anyone slipping) and he looked at me and said: 'Justin, when you finish whatever you are working on why don't you sweep the line. Hehehe.' His way of saying 'can't you do anything better.' He even had the gall to smack my hand like a child when I reached for a spice, but picked up his personal spice container by mistake. To make it just peachy the pet cook tryed to boss me around and talk down to me. It took all my restraint not to tell him to drop dead and remind him he sure wasn't big enough to give me orders. :banghead:

Sadly my friend has gotten it worse than me. She's been given two write-ups for what they called poor work performence. Which is BS since she works harder and better than the leads. Its gotten to the point where she's looking for a new job. With her leaving it will be just me and one other friend. Heck, my coworkers are even givin him BS for no good reason.

I was okay with them making my life hell. I was even okay with them reminding me that I'm short, a little chunky, and way south of good looking. Messing with my friends was just not cool. Even Magilla Gorilla can turn into a a silverback when you mess with his friends.

Thanks for letting rant! I feel a lot better now and sorry it went on and on. 🙂 Don't get me wrong, I love my job, but sometimes it gets to be overwhelming.

Justin,

I know exactly what you must be going through as I have worked in the kitchen of a busy catering/deli operation myself. Although it was not a real restaurant like yours, two or more groups of cooks sharing a work space could be real hairy. We, the breakfast/lunch crew had to deal with the mess left by the night crew as well as the nasty, snide comments and demands from them. It used to drive me insane when we had to do our shift, and at the same time, clean & prep for the night crew.

My bummer is actually a really big one this time. :( (nearly as big as my bum, but that's another story! :p)

My husband had to be rushed to A&E a week last Monday with bad stomach cramps and bleeding. They told him he probably has either Crohn's Disease or ulcerative colitis. :(

The horrible thing is, no one will do anything about it until he has a definite diagnosis, which won't be until after he has seen the specialist on June 5th. That was the earliest date we could get even by going private.

In the meantime he is suffering bad pains in the mornings, and is unable to leave the house until 1 or 2 in the afternoon. In a kind of lucky way he works for himself, so at least no boss breathing down his neck which takes some pressure off, but it's really horrible. :( At the moment normal life is impossible, and I feel so bad for him and so helpless. :'-(

I just want him to be able to get treatment quickly and get into remission. :(

We're hoping this won't affect our travel plans to Japan and Aus at the end of July - fingers are firmly crossed but who knows.

I pissed that the library wont let me use itunes
and i cant use anything else to snych with my ipod cuz the computers are stupid >_<

I'm engaged but I just realized I'm in love with someone else and they love me back. Hows that for a bummer?

Auch haru, that's annoying.. ..I've seen a TON of cases where people get married or plan to get married under 25 and it ends up disasterrific.
even if everything goes fine five or ten years later you'll suddenly get that "I feel like I married too young" thing, I've seen a good twenty couples break up because of it.
Only one I know survived, and that was because me and a bunch of friends all came together and talked them out of their issues... they were just perfect together.
Enjoy life before marrying haru ^^
I'm prolly never even getting married, cause I think If I love someone, I don't need a certificate to prove it.

as for my own banter.
I never let out ****, so this is big. >>

First of all, right now
I'm going to bed know knowing when I wake up I will start a month of nightmare.

The next week being flooded with various types of work and duties, the three weeks after being exams every day.
I'll be studying my balls of while multitasting and bearing with someone whose diabetus has turned his personality into the dodgiest ****** up ******* I have ever seen and I already hated him before

Also without having stress my entire life I have killer stress now because even though you do great they can still fail you at my HS because wether you pass or not depends on people's opinions!

I've already been forced to redo 3 years in highschool because of this and thus now I'm completely ******* stressed out to jump into the exam period.

I have issues enough being 19 and still in Highschool.
Topping that off, I the belgian somehow Managed to fall head over heels with a texan girl who's got more loose screws then a 1920 harley while she was kicked out by her family on graduation day and I can do nothing to help so to top it off I'm also worried about her and her condition and I'm about ready to go freaking insane;

Then I should also add that Me and my father haven't talked since his birthday last year and that awfull event. [and it's the 4th of july] so for some reason I'm the one feeling guilty while he's the one that wasn't ever there all my life.

I've also been a support beam for countless of my friends and it's eating me away that I can't help out my friend Kirsten because she's becoming a complete wreck as her sister actually moved in with her stepdad, and likely also sleeps with him and more.

Gyaaah, I'm about to flip.

i just watched a video someone put together for a Propagandhi song Purina Hall of Fame with a ton of animal cruelty and farm footage. i wonder if i can learn to prepare more vegetables

I'm currently p!ssed of with cyclists, especially the lycra clad m0rons in Nottingham. The reason? Nottingham has quite a lot of cycle paths yet Mr.Lycra feels that these are not for him and uses the road. Annoying during normal times, but during rush hour it shows either complete stupidity or a lack of consideration for the busy roads. As I drive a truck that is just over eight feet wide getting past Mr.Lycra is not as easy as it is in a car.
USE THE DAMN PATHS YOU IDIOTS!!!!! They are there for their own safety.
Another is that they seem to think that red on traffic lights or pedestrian crossings seem only to mean cars and they are exempt from the rules of the road. Traffic cops will happily stop cars and trucks for random checks, but I have yet to see one stop some idiot on a bike who can't adhere to rules of the road.

Sorry to hear that Kinsao :( I wish there was something I could do to help, but all of us at Jref are pulling for you!

Thank you Justin for your kind words. My boy still does not have an official diagnosis - several tests are on the horizon and he is still in pain.

wandering-raven, that sounds horrible, I really feel for you and hope that you are able to do something to support your friend, as well as good luck in the exams.

You mentioned bleeding. Is it from his butt when he tries to move his bowels? Does he have a fever? Does he have pain in his lower left abdomen? If so then he may be suffering from what I have and that is diverticulitis

Initially they thought I had Crohns or colitus or Irritable Bowel Syndrome among a few others. It was only after I had colonoscopy that it was discovered what I was truly suffering from. If it is, and I hope it is, it is very easily treatable. Good luck to you.

@Pachipro: in order, yes, no, and yes. The specialist thinks it is some form of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (either Crohn's or ulcerative colitis). He has had a scan and they can see inflammation of the lower intestine on the scan. Also he is needing to use the bathroom like 5-10 times a day or more, and has mouth ulcers too which they think are related.

It seems so far that most of the inflammation is localised in the lower intestine, which I think is positive as it makes it more likely to be colitis than crohn's (which I am hoping as although neither of them are good, colitis has fewer complications in later years). But we need to have the camera test now, and it's back on the good old nhs as we have no more money, and god knows how long that will take to come through. :(

Thank you for your concern and encouragement though, Pachipro. :p Fingers crossed!

Don't feel like opening a new thread about this.

The Dutch government decided to help Japan with 1 million euro last night. Let me say it again: 1 million euro!!! Most of the directors of the large companies get even more than that. I feel really ashamed with this, what are they thinking? Japan is already rich enough, so they don't need any help?

With the Haiti national funds raising, the RTL program got 41 million euro, so the government dubbled that. I know that Haiti is a lot poorer, and a lot more people died over there... but what can Haiti do for Holland, and what can Japan do for Holland. Shouldn't they give at least 10 or 20 million to Japan?

My rant for this week!!!

p.s. only good thing is that our fellow Dutch Journalist Kjeld Duits has been covering this story (even though the other news agencies left Japan).

Will winter ever end ??

Yesterday was about 35 degrees above normal and melted some of the 2 feet of snow still on the ground. Got up this morning and it is snowing real heavy for about 3 hours now , UGH!

Uncle Frank

I had a great time last night! Played Dungeons & Dragons with some friends from high school until around 4 AM in the morning. Went home, tried watching the latest episode of, "Young Justice" and started dozing off so I headed to the bedroom and took a nap! All of that actually made me feel better, had been down for sometime.

I had to work late almost every day and to put a cherry on my 'rant sunday' get this. . . I'm only getting one day off!
