The Bummer and Rant Thread

sorry but here goes....my ex husband gave my(our) daughter a mobile phone for xmas, turns out he stole it along with 12 others from where he works as a security guard!!!!!! He never see's her, I have to beg him and then he might see her if he can be bothered, for two years he gave her nothing for her birthdays or xmas, then the one presant he gives he stole. me and my daughter have now had to make statements to the police and will have to appear in court. the police confiscated her phone. Not once since january has he phoned her or seen her and when asked why he stays in this area his reply " because of his daughter" I wish I knew if i was allowed to swear on here because he makes me feel like swearing, bigtime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh and it's just started pouring it down here, thunder and lightning, the works

Hope he makes it !

Went to my favorite patient today, only to find out he suffered a stroke or heart attack and was rushed to the hospital last night. His sister just died and he has been down in the dumps over her loss, now it looks like he might join her. He just had his 100th birthday a few weeks ago and I was hoping he would make it to 101. Oh well, maybe he will recover and get back home so I have him again to take care of.

Frank...I hear where you are coming from. When it that beyond-point of our epistimology (sp) is kind right there in our very working-life zone, it can pluck deep emotional strings. I hope he comes back, to go for that 101 birthday !!

I should be too old to be waking up with strangers...
No, never too old for that !! I'd really like to be kind of doing the same thing. More power to you !!

Aww Frank, I am really sorry to hear that. :( I hope he recovers! Wow, 100 years is such a long time to live - just think how many changes he has seen! ☝

lol! :D I'm just sleazy...  ... but anyway, I'm in a 'serious' relationship now, so... ;-)

My only 'bummer' is that my partner goes off to Finland (for work) for 4 days on Thursday; I will miss him.

I'm currently on vacation, but somebody kidnapped summer as it's feeling more like October than August. For the last couple of days now, it's been cloudy, rainy, overcast with temperatures struggling to reach 70. SEVENTY!! In late August!! Talk about revolting! I know there's nothing you can do about the weather, but jeez! I'd like to see a little sunshine and blue skies!

I think we stole it, Jeff ! It's still a good temp here, with blues skies almost everyday--well, actually every single day since the beginning of August...and still going. (with only some large cumulus clouds gathering over the hills to the east, in a soft golden white) Yeah, we did it.

BUT try to enjoy with what you have !!!

Me too Jeff !

Maine has been getting frost warning the past 3 nights. The cold air has been pouring in and we have been lucky if we hit 70 degrees as a high temp.

Yo, Mars Man: Many thanks for admitting your guilt. However, I've been in Japan in August, so isn't it around 100 in the shade right about now? UGH!! Meanwhile, maybe, just maybe we'll see the sun here in Philly today. Maybe.

Not out of wish to throw a wet blanket over people's important HAPPY news and things :P I just wanted to say that I haven't been around J-ref for quite a while... only a few posts here and there. At work I was told I have to get on with my work more 😊 and I have a new line manager so... I had to put my nose to the grindstone, and no time for J-reffing! :(

Anyway, also things been stressful, as my fiance is taking his ex-employers to tribunal, and the hearing is tomorrow... I've never been to a court before! ☝ He's stressed because he borrowed some money a few years ago from his stepdad, and now his stepdad is falling on hard times... he isn't demanding his money but my boy feels very bad about not being able to pay him back yet. :( So we really need a good compensation out of this tribunal. But who knows if we will get anything. Maybe he will be awarded nothing... I don't know. 😭

At least we are working as a team and our relationship is as strong as ever, so I have very little to complain about in the grand scheme of things! 😆

Also stress trying to book a venue for the wedding reception... haha. Because we are inviting about 170 people, it's difficult to find somewhere big enough... and my mum keeps nagging me that we are leaving it too late, and I get worried we will not be able to find anywhere. ☝ My fiance is quite fussy about the type of place (¬_¬), far more than I am (lol)... It's just bugging me! I just hope we can find a place soon that suits him and fits all the people and is not too expensive! :angryfire:

The main thing is, we know all this stress will be over soon :) ... the tribunal one way or the other tomorrow, and by Xmas most of wedding stuffs will be sorted, with only details to fix. :) So things are okay really! :D

Good luck at court tomorrow!

The wedding sounds fun though... lot of people though(we only had 35)!

Yes, Kinsao chan, I had noticed that you hadn't been on much, but had written it off as 'love.' Now I can see that it has been more than just that. . . we are always glad to hear something from you, even if it's every now and then only !!

I have my fingers crossed and my mind set on all things going as well for you two as possible !! I really, really want it to work out well enough to end as much of the stressfulness as possible, as soon as possible. (that is a large crowd, though...WOW !!)

Hang in there and keep that love a'boiling !!

Thank you very much, both of you! :)
As well as having a new and stricter manager at the 9 to 5 job, I am also kind of fitting in an extra job... unpaid, but it is connected with music, so it's interesting for me. :) Does mean my time has been really full, though! Luckily my partner works in the music industry so it is something we can share together, so it is not stressful - just busy. :-)
Haha, I didn't realise there would be so many people ☝ ... I don't care about having fancy stuff like expensive dress, flowers, exotic honeymoon, big car etc... just want people to feel welcome to come and see us make that commitment... :) and then afterwards you have to feed 'em all! :D

Went to my doctor yesterday for my annual check-up. I'm still breathing, that much was ascertained!

But, seriously, I was startled to learn that my blood pressure was a tad high, the systolic number was 150, normally, I'm in the low to mid 120's, so that took me quite by surprise as I've never been that high before. And here I was thinking I was doing everything right in regards to diet and exercise. Hopefully, I'll learn more after I get back the results of my blood work next week. Hopefully, that was an anomoly instead of a precursor of future health problems. That concerned me more than a little.

Oh, yeah, my doctor went in the "back door", if you know what I mean, and told me my prostate's okay. I'll be going back in mid-January.

Might have just been a bad day Jeff ?

Sometimes you get a "white coat syndrome" reading. A young good looking nurse taking your BP will do that, LOL. Buy one of those cheap electronic meters for home and track it for a week or two and you will get a better idea if it is high. Nice to hear your tail end is doing fine.

Nahh! I couldn't get that lucky, my doctor who's male and ten years older than I am took the reading. But after talking to a friend the other night, I believe I've found the culprit: microwave ramen noodles with sodium loaded flavor packets. I just started eating them a couple of months ago and I have a package of noodles practically every night because they're so damn good. Chances are the increased sodium intake caused the high reading. I do plan on buying one of those meters you mentioned and monitor things. I think that cutting off the noodles will solve the problem. I hope.

I had so many bad dreams last night, I kept speaking and moving, and waking up, and now I feel bad because I kept waking my partner up as well, and he really needed a good rest. :(

Hummmm???

Sounds like your waking life is too busy & stressful; tends to affect our sleep. Take 2 sleeping pills and call me in the morning.

😊 🙏

I wish the best for all you folks ! What worries me the most, is your situation, Goldiegirl. I really wish such wouldn't happen, but it does. . . sometimes the situation can be cleared up via open and emotional, yet non-negative, non-prepsupposition-attached attached communication. . . but sometimes not.

I'm in that state too...no with my[\i] mother, though...somebody else's mother. I wish the best for you two !! Maybe I need a 'white coat syndrome' reading to vitalize me?

Thanks Mars Man. It's hard when you see your parent make bad decisions. I have a brother who just uses my mom for her money. He is a perpetual "Peter Pan". I can't watch it anymore. It just kills me. It's her life, and I know that. But, I have to bail her out for giving him money. He's a user and she's an enabler. It's such a vicious circle. I have to stop helping her, because in essence I am enabling her to enable my brother to be a loser. He pays nothing, not even his electric bill. BUT he can go tanning, belong to a fitness club, and basically party every night. He's 40! It's hard to be tough on my mom, but I've tried talking to her and it just doesn't get through. She tells me he is her son (first born) and she will always take care of him. I told her she can take care of him without giving him money. She can be a shoulder to cry on, take him to financial counseling anything, but why is help always equal to money? Sorry to rant so much, but this is the right place!

Goldiegirl, didn't you try to somehow reach the pride of your brother? Or is it fine by him to be leeching off his parents?

My brother doesn't care about what anybody thinks of him. It's really sad. He is bi-polar so I understand his illness. He has never taken responsibility for any of the wrong doings he's done. He is happy leaching off his family. The ONLY time he calls is when he wants money. I even have his eldest daughter living with me. I pay for her! My mom knows this but she just says "he's my son". My grandfather spoiled him rotten as he was the first grandson, and he himself only had a daughter - my mother. I just don't know what to do. I sent him a letter with the names of financial advisors and told him to get a 2nd job. He called my mom and told her if I gave him $10,000 he'd disappear! Can you believe that! That will happen when pigs fly and hell freezes over! Anyway, my mom and I are now on a very stiff and formal kind of communication, I almost think the silence was better.

Well i never been in that situation, but if i really think about it, i can only think of one thing, just stand your ground and don`t give up an inch. After all, until you grow up, its your parents` responsibility too look after you, and correct your mistakes, but when you grow up, its almost like a duty to look after your parents. So Good Luck, and don!t take a single step back. I mean, when you have this feeling that you are right, all the world can be against you, but you still know that you`re not the one who`s wrong.
