The Bummer and Rant Thread

My mom handed me an iron bowl, but she didn't realize she put it on the cooking plate before she gave it to me :/ Got blisters the size of Tokyo on my 2 fingers now !

Here's a bummer for ya. Yesterday was the annual Sake Matsuuri in Saijo (Hiroshima-ken). I text messaged a female friend to see if she wanted to meet up, and she said "sure". So we met up, drank loads and loads of sake, and have an all-around great time. It's obvious (at least I thought) that we were both into each other. We're having some great drunken conversation and by the end of the festival, we're holding hands and she's laying her head on my shoulder, etc.

So after the festival, we head over to an izakaya for some dinner. I get a text on my phone so I pull it out to check. She then asks to see all the pictures on my phone, and afterward proceeds to show me all of her picutres, including one of her BOYFRIEND! I was pretty bummed, and I'm not one of those guys who can go after a girl who has a boyfriend.

All in all I still had a great time at the festival, and maybe our paths will cross again in the future, so long as we are both single.

@ fsuman110: That sucks man really.
As for me... Yesterday we went to drink in the city park. After some of the people went to the concert of Catamenia, there were five of us left. Me, my boyfriend Matej, my friend Barbara and two friends of my boyfriend. We we're drinking, joking about different things, the policemen came to check on us and then we joked together with them. We'll anyway as those random people went away, Barbara and those two friends went for a walk. Matej and i were sitting on a bench, kissing, when suddenly i see a lot of people coming toward us. I was like what, they looked drunk and angry. One had something in the hand, but i couldn't see it, because it was too dark. The biggest guy in the group, i guess it was a leader said if we are satanists. We both told them that we aren't and that we are just metalheads. He and the other 15 started hitting us and one of them hit my head with something. Suddenly i couldn't see anything, everything was so blurry and then i passed out.
The next thing i heard was Matej calling my name. He helped me to stand up and i looked around and no one was there. He told me, that someone in that group recognized him and told the others that we are not satanists. The leader apologized and told Matej, that some stupid satanists cut his best friend and that they are searching for them, to beat them up. Yeah, guess they got the wrong one. But yeah, that's not all. They stole my Mp3 Player, Matej's Mp3 Player, my money (around 20 euros i had for the concert ticket, but i didn't go) and my documents. I still don't know how to explain this to my mother, but i'll have to find a way. I can't tell her the truth, because she'll never let me out again. But on the other side, i think i won't even go out for a while. At least not in the city park.
:(

OMG Anchyyy! 😲 That's horrible! Is your head OK now?
It sucks about your money and mp3 player and documents too. :(

Okay, some good news is that I bought Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers(They surround my desk now, provide a great sound-related experience), Battlestar Galactica Season 1, Battlestar Galactica Season 2.0, Mai-Hime Vol. 1, Dragon Quest for PS2, and Battlestar Galactica Season 2.5. The bad news is that I'm back on the forums. Miss me? :o

Now I do not, in any way that my little mind works, see how anyone could really say, with any heartfelt and deep thought behind it, that it would be a bad thing that you were back in the thick of discussion with us here on Jref !! I had wondered about not having seen anything from you, and was given a big smile when I did see a post by you. I didn't get the chance to say anything then, so now I do !! NICE to see you back Thor san !!! (and I love playing the six-string too !! ) MM

Anchyyy chan, you adorable, lovely girl. . . I swear, my heart goes out to you !!! Those thugs were as bad as any satanists themselves....that sounds terrible. It can really hurt to get hurt like that and to have things stolen from you. Please try to let it go so that no psychological barrier sets itself up. I'm thinking of you !! MM

I got rear-ended (by a car...don't get gross) last week and the collision shop deemed my car a total loss. The worst part is that the person who hit me has no insurance. Grrr x100. So my insurance is paying me out, but there's no way to find a comprable vehicle for what they're giving me. So now I'll have to bite the bullet and spend $$. How victimizing is that?

I feel your pain. That very thing happened to a neighbor a couple of years ago. Every time I drive, I woory about that very thing happening to me. You can be the most careful driver on the planet, but there's no way to safegaurd yourself against other people who aren't careful. I hope things work out for you.

If you got rear-ended, and it wasn't your fault, can't you sue the other party?

Thanks, FlashJeff...
Yeah, I'm still hoping for this thing to turn out to be a "blessing in disguise."

If you got rear-ended, and it wasn't your fault, can't you sue the other party?
Well, so far, this is what I can do:
The responsible party has a court appearance in a about 3 weeks.
I'm told that part of the judgement towards him will be to pay restitution owed to me which would be my $500 insurance deductible. I'm told that I can't really expect much more because my insurance covered my damage. I so think this sux and is unfair because I'm not being compensated for what I lost (it was an older vehicle that I took really good care of, so the payout to me wasn't much).

Is war on Iran inevitable? - you did say rant, and it would be a bummer

don't let this rant kill the string- thread
AND don't please dont' reply!

Yes. i am a total loser. i must admit i often don't like watching
these channels (CSpan) because it feels dirty, but BookTV often has interesting authors on talking about their books.
So Sunday morning while most people are recovering from the night before
(some going to church recovering from their week before helping the
corporations concentrate more wealth into their hands), i was watching
cspan2. i'm not about to claim i care more about something or other
than others. this some of this stuff just seems interesting. maybe
like a train wreck. so...

Today i watched on cspan2's book tv a discussion with Scott Ritter, the
former UN weapons inspector in Iraq (as well as former US marine
and republican)
who came out against the invasion of Iraq before it happened and
tried to tell
the world that Iraq did NOT have the WMDs that the administration
had been claiming.

On Sunday, October 29 at 11:30 am and at 11:30 pm Ritter and
Seymour Hersh (journalist
for the New Yorker) talked about Ritter's new book
"Target Iran: The Truth About the White House's Plans for Regime Change".
Both believe the administration is planning to attack Iran.
(recorded 10/16/06)

Ritter was not happy with what the Bushies have planned (and have
done in Iraq).
Among things that were talked about.

He pointed out that the president of Iran had no real power, it is
the Ayatollahs.
Iran's prez was irresponsible mouthing off about Israel. The Ayatollahs have
as their policy to NOT develop nuclear weapons as it is not humane and not
line with Islamic religion. According to Ritter the Ayatollahs had
sent a message through Switzerland? to the US about negotiating
about their nuclear program.
Bush needed to put Condaleeza Rice on a plain and send her to Iran
and negotiate with
the proper people.
Of course, Ritter points out, we have been conditioned
to lump all Muslims together in one basket even though, according
to Ritter the Persians(Iranians) and Israelis both in fact fear
Arab domination of the area.
Hersh agreed about with that, however disagreed that the their prez
had no power.
He had quite a substantial popular following and, although the
Iranian constitution
said the Ayatollahs had the power over the mil, police, etc... the
US constitution
says certain things too. Ritter had to concede a little and there
was a hushed cynical laugh by all on that point.

Ritter, repeated a few times that Iran does not have a policy to
make nuclear weapons, but
only energy and was stating that they agreed with the international
legal framework
on the matter. There is no evidence of otherwise. And you cannot
prove a negative.
That is how we were led into Iraq. He emphasized that we cannot
let ourselves be
duped into accepting that Iran has nuclear weapons from the get-go.

-Israel had taken on a 'faith-based' analysis rather than a
fact-based analysis.
They had this back when they didn't think Egypt would invade them
some decades ago,
but did. They went to fact-based. But, faith-based is back Ritter said.
This led Israel to place Iran, Lebanese Shiites and Hamas all into
the same group.
But was wrong. Then we the US population allow ourselves to fall into this trap of throwing everyone together too. "all those people".

Nukes.
Here is the really scary parts*******
Ritter believes Bush is going to attack Iran.
US policy is regime change for Iran.
They do not have nukes. So regime change can be the only thing.
The US under Bush has been developing so-called "usable nukes".
(They are also called "bunker busters")
Apparently the US has developed the policy to use these nukes
if troops are in massive danger.
As we know, US troops are tied up in Iraq.
If Bush sends 40,000 troops into Iran, and they get tied up,
there will be no calvary.
The US then will take the nuclear genie out of the bottle.
Once that is done, there is no stuffing it back in the bottle.
There will be retaliation on a US city.
Ritter says, for all those Americans out there who want to
go have war in Iran, they should choose their city.
Seattle? LA? NY? Miami? Choose your city. One of them
is going to get nuked if the US unleashes the genie from the bottle.

Furthemore,
How an invasion of Iran would hurt the average US citizen according to Ritter:
Iran would do how what they could. Cut off all their oil supplies to the
outside world. If you thought oil prices were high recently...
China & India sure aren't going to put their economy on hold so the US can do a war.
On top of that Venezuela might well cut off their oil supplies as well, being
that they're another people that are sick of the US being the bully and
doing things to other countries in violation of international law.

**
Also US intelligence agencies do not believe Iran is developing
a nuclear weapons program. But, unfortunately most of the
'key' political players in both parties do. For ex: Hillary Clinton.

former CIA(27 years) Ray McGovern, a member of "Veteran Intelligence
Agenst for Sanity" (or some such name), also believes the administration is
planning to attack Iran.

This site has mp3 of it available for download
http://nysoundposse.com/2006/10/event-seymour-hersh-and-scott-ritter.html
I also searched Youtube.com for "Scott Ritter" and came up with
http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=scott+ritter&search=Search
which has 2 about 10min clips of the event. As well as some democracynow!
interviews.

If I had the hardware or the know-how I would record &
post this on youtube. As it will be shown again tonight on CSpan2 Sunday,
October 29 at 11:30 pm Eastern US time.

Ahhhhhhh!!!!!
The world is insane!!!! And I'm too lazy to do anything about it!!!!!!
end rant
(now The Residents are playing. how fitting)

Amen to that ! War sucks bollocks, but the weapon industry has to keep going on and on. T'is a shame...

It definitely sucks, but that is why you have insurance! In some places, the other driver would go to jail for driving with no insurance!

Definitely a bummer. I noticed yesterday afternoon that I had lost one of the diamonds out of my Dad's ring. I've only had it about 2 months, and everything was there in the morning. It just fell out somewhere and I have no idea where to start looking! One of the mounts that held it in broke off.

I think we're in the middle of an nuclear arms race, do you know what nuclear weapons can do these days! :(

Humanity is looking for more creative ways of self destruction. 😭

the rant of my day...
perhaps, it was just an effect of novelty. Like at good old days sugar was much more sweet and grass used to be bright green. Everything was new and interesting, debates were rich and informative.
perhaps, it is true that for now all topic were discussed and no one (Jpop fans are not considered) can come with new idea, or with a new view over prevoiusly discussed issues...
every system evolves, and its elements evolve also. If they can`t meet the
changes they disappear. How long i was here? a year and a tad? sometimes
frequent, sometimes absent for quite a time. It wasn`t rare when i`d stumbled over remark left by some old members "this forum changed, it is not the same as it used to be", implicit or evident remark pointing that forum changed for worse The one who can`t put up with changed system leaves, the one who can`t or doesn`t want to leave - adapts...
One thing i noticed "intensity of disappointment" grows... perhaps, it means something, perhaps not.
System and elements are interdependent. The energy level of a system is maintained by its most efficient (strong if you want to) elements. When they stop contributing, this level decreases. System degrades...
perhaps, this is not the case. Perhaps, anabiosis of some sort...
And one more observation (historical, if you wish):
there is very fine line between reasonable (or even sensible) censorship and
immoderate "cerberuship"... where one unfortunate step can lead ancient and
modern history clearly shows... tolerance, respect, open-mindness don`t survive in environment of double standards...
perhaps, i had a bad day and just tend to complain...

?????????????????????????????????????????????

I'm on strike until JREF chat is repaired !

^ Hey, that's great Miki! 👍

My rant... [probably won't make any sense at all, but hey, this thread is here for venting, isn't it? 😌 ]

I hate manipulative people, especially those who enjoy turning absolutely everything into some kind of mind game. I feel like holding up a huge sign that says "YOU ARE WASTING YOUR TIME WITH ME". I'm a simple person and I like to keep things simple. I have no problem with people being confused about their feelings. It happens to everyone at times. I just wish they wouldn't f**king bother me about it. >_> Come to me when you've sorted yourself out. I can't tell you what you want if you don't know it yourself.

Normally I try to be helpful to people, even if it's only acting as a sort of 'echo-chamber' to help them figure things out for themselves. But sometimes - just sometimes - I get thoroughly p*ssed off with constantly being used. At least, if you see me as an object, don't come whining to me about feelings. But if you insist on treating me like a human being and demanding more from me than I'm willing or able to give, you could at least show a little bit of respect and common courtesy.

People are so weird at times.

Sorry - but it does ya good to vent somewhere! :p
