Well I have just lost my temper, which for me is something. I work two days at home, and both those days this week have been a constant stream of calls trying to sell me cheap phone calls. I don't use the damn phone from one week's end to the next, our monthly calls come to about 23p, so what are they going to save me anyway? Why would I want free weekend calls when I don't phone anybody at the weekend! Everyone I know either lives just round the corner, or I talk to they via e-mail! AAARGHH!! It annoys me! This latest one that rung just now, I said "No thank you, I don't use the phone, goodbye". She just carried on talking. I tried to hang up, but she was still there yapping away. I said "No thank you, goodbye" twice more, she was still yapping away, so that is when I lost it! "WHAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE WORD GOODBYE! IT MEANS I WANT TO END THIS CALL!"

Hey, now that we're talking about these annoying sales people, I was wondering, have anyone here recieved a whole bunch pre-approved credit card offerings? This may be a rant I have in the future, but recently I've been all this junk in the mail about how I have been approved for a credit card. It's just another way to put people in debt.

I love caller ID we have here. Just glance at the cordless and if I don't know the person, ignore it. After 4 rings, the answer machine kicks in and scares them away.

Tsuyoiko, you can get BT to screen calls for you. We have recently signed on it and our number of sales calls have become virtually non-existant. The number is in the telephone directory.

Yeah, I thought about that. The only problem is that Simon enters a lot of competitions, and sometimes we get calls to say he has won. So I have to answer or he might miss out on a prize.

That was me! but seriously...that has happened to me a lot too! But I have also done it to others...it is the only way to ensure that you win...either that or seriously overbid for the item...but then you wind up paying too much!

I'm Bummed Out !!

My buddy that I do everything with just joined the Army for a six year hitch. I played big brother and dad to him when he was 14, he's 25 now. He just found out he ships out this Thursday. If I had a life outside the Forum, he was it. We had planned to go to hunting camp for a week this November, but I guess that's out for now? All the guys I did things with have died young, only 1 left now that I see a couple times a year. I sure hope the crap and war and killing are done with before my buddy gets out of school 9 months from now. He got assigned as a Patriot missile tech. Too bad I don't drink, I would go out tonight & tie one on for sure.

I'll admit I will snipe for items on ebay. It is bloody annoying though when someone out snipes you. My attitude on this is, "BUGGER! Oh well "

Yeah! You gotta be on the lookout for what I call "lurkers" who lie in the weeds and wait until practically the last minute, if not the last thirty seconds to spring and outbid you on an item. I've lost more than a few Pink Lady items that way in the past. Usually, the only way to prevent that from happening is to put up such an outrageously high bid that discourages lurkers from trying to top you.

Same here! That's where ego sometimes gets the best of my common sense, like when I outbid someone on an item, then they outbid me, invariably I get pissed and up the ante thinking, "No way am I gonna let this clown outbid me!", and back and forth we go because I refuse to lose, and so does my opponent. Before I know it, what was once an inexpensive item becomes a hideously expensive one. It's not too hard to lose control when it comes to bidding on stuff!

One time I did a bid on a video game, and put my limit to $50. The auction stated that it was brand new video game, and the works. Well I win from all the snipers right. I come out on top, receive the game only to find out that it was actually a used game. Now I've been looking for the game for six years because it's that rare, but to be lied to, and pay such a high price really steamed me up. I kept the game, but I also learn how to deal with stuff like that again (e-mail e-bay about fraud).

Oh well I found another copy of the game I wanted, but I'll have to pay three dollars more than what I wanted too. Maybe I just wait until a better offer comes around. Oh and do you know what I do when people outbid me like that? I give my computer the finger (okay well maybe not the finger), and then start to laugh at the person who outbid me. Why? Because they usually pay a very expsensive price for the games I bid on. Serves them right too. Maybe next they'll learn not to do that, then wonder why their pay check got so small just for one stupid game.

I have a zero tolerance policy on e-bay. I will put a no payer notice on even for a couple of quid. Most times people cough up anyway once they see that notice, then you can take it back off. People who mess you about really piss me off.

I always pay for my stuff even when I don't have the cash on hand. Plus if there is a delay in the payment I always tell the seller why, and when they can receive their money.

Okay my rant for the day:

I got about four and a half hours of sleep today so I could wake up at 7:05 a.m. to go to a class that started at 8:05 a.m. This is the first time I've been up this early in over almost three years. I get to class only to find out it's cancelled. What's worse is that it only meets once a week, today was supposed to be the first day of that class, and I got up early for nothing. I feel like killing some weerbulls in Serious Sam (a computer game).

It's Missouri not Missourah!

This is a very silly rant, but it's been getting on my nerves for a long time now. People can't pronounce Missouri correctly. :angryfire. It's Missour-i, goodness how difficult is that? The sad thing is I'm not from Missouri originally but the way some people pronounced has been bothering since I've lived here.

I have a rant for today. I opened up my package that I had been waiting for, and sat down to play it. Unfortunately the game that I had purchased is defective. It skips, the sound cuts out, and it doesn't want to load after a certain level. This really sucks because now I have to send it back, and see if I can get another copy from the seller on e-bay.

Ok, I think I have complained about this particular subject before, but dammit, Im doing it again, just to protect my sanity. :angryfire
This week im on a super tight budget, and dont have the money on my transport card to be travelling in the rain across the city to meet students that cant be bothered turning up. I have other students who are much more diligent, and do actually turn up to spend my money on.
How difficult is it to ring somebody to say that you cant make it?
Worse thing is, that I told her last week that because I have moved it takes an hour to get to where she is, so at least an hours notice would be nice.
But no. I have been 'teaching' her for a month now, and out of the 9 hours a week that she scheduled me for, she has probably only turned up for not even 9 hours in the month.
Maybe only 1 day out of 3 in a week she will actually come to class. Which is at her work, so it makes me wonder if she even goes to work?!
On Saturday she wanted to make up for her classes that she didnt bother coming to last week, so I said ok, I will make time for you. An hour before that scheduled time she rings me to say she has gone away for the weekend. I know that if I plan to go away, I know at least a day in advance that Im going to do so. I had taught her the day before, and she had said that she wanted a class the next night (The Saturday), then when she called me, I asked her if she would come to class on Monday, and when she said yes, I said "REALLY??" and she was adamant that she would be there.
So today I caught the wrong bus, and walked in the rain for a bit before getting to her work, and she's not even there. When her secretary calls her, she doesnt even answer the phone. Twice. The secretary tells me that she will keep trying, and I told her not to even bother, Im going home.
Still I havent received a call from her, or even a simple text message. Her english is so bad, that most of the conversations are conducted in Korean. Even during class she wanders off every 5 minutes to do something, and always cuts the class short because she's 'tired'. Oh it makes me soo angry that people cant be respectful of other peoples time. Yeah Im not that busy, but if I didnt have to be 'on call' for when she wants me to teach her, then I could have other students, or at least have time to do something I enjoy doing.
GRRRRR
It was rather obvious that I was angry, especially after this happens almost every time I go there, but obviously the secretaries havent told her about my disappointment. Instead they just do the 'nervous giggle' hoping that will be enough to supress my anger.
Then I come home, my cellphone is ancient, one of the first probably even made in Korea, and then I get a text message from someone I dont even know who! I cant look through my phone book on my phone unless I know the name of the person. How useless is semi modern technology?????
Ok I think thats enough of all this. I just had to let it out. Im really liking this thread.
