Tsuyoiko: Sorry to hear about your unfortunate turn of fate. Going from employed to unemployed is always rough, and the job hunting procedure is a major pain in the arse, while the inevitable interview for a new job is much worse, it's like having to lay your entire life bare before a complete stranger. And uncomfortable thing to do indeed. Hopefully, you'll be able to resolve the situation soon.
Kinsao: I'm assuming you're talking about natural gas to heat your flat. I know all about that. Thousands of people here in Philadelphia face the same problems as natural gas has skyrocketed over the past year, leaving low income residents high and dry. The best I can suggest is that you contact your local utility company, explain the situation and ask if you can be put on some sort of payment plan.

Well today was my little brothers Birthday (happy birthday bro) unfortunately fitting back in to Australia is a little difficult (I want to go home to Japan). Today all the relatives came over but the kids pretty uch would just ignore anything I said and keep to their own conversations (it was impossible trying to talk to them and we are a really close family) so it sort of sucked a bit- I love my family to bits but sometimes I just wonder how many worlds we are apart because of my exchange.

Our latest big bill was council tax - it has gone up by GBP8 a month - it now costs almost as much as our mortgage!
Jieshi - I hear you on feeling left out. I feel like that every time I see my in-laws. My husband is thinking of getting a DNA test

My Bummer
Hello peeps,
I had a bit of a bummer yesterday, just a combination of little things really;
First there was a rain storm and I got soaked when I went to get my lunch.
I'd washed all my trainers, and the only spare ones I had on, which have holes in, so my socks were wet through. My feet were making squelching noises for ages.
When back at work I was at last given notification of my pay rise. It was rubbish, so that pretty much wipes out my hopes of getting a mortgage on anything bigger than a garden shed.
Then when I finished work I set off to a party at TV Tokyo near Oxford Street(about a 30min walk). I stopped for some dinner and a horrible, smelly man sat next to me, which was a little off-putting.
Next it starts raining again, so I seek shelter in a pub - I don't want squelching socks again!
I sat there pondering my dilemma about my long distance GF and waited for the rain to ease off. I eventually resumed my journey, incurring wet socks again anyway.
Finally I arrived at the pub where the party was and quickly discovered that there was no party, it was the next night -
I'd been given the wrong date!
BUMMER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well, that's my rant over with. I'm not usually a 'blogger', but I needed to get this off my chest.
At least I get to go to the party tonight.

Haha, i got drenched too. Only i was at Legoland in a t-shirt and on a ride at the time it decided to chuck it down. Then my foot decided to swell up. But i went to Legoland 
and i came home with lots of lego.

My rant.
We got a class project. Earlier, we planned to meet today to prepare for the project defense which is really really near. I went to the venue (a groupmate's place), 20 minutes late cause I noticed my other group mates are always late only to find out that I was still the first to arrive. So we tried to contact the others thru SMS and there were 2 groupmate who wouldnt return our messages, so we finally decided to call them. Still no one would pick up the CP. We waited for 2 hours (how patient of us!) before we finally decided postpone. 3 hours later, I got a message I was waiting for and it went something like this: "I didn't know we were going to meet today. Sorry I ddnt reply immediately, I was at the gym."
My gosh, the nerve to make us wait for 2 hours only to tell me they were at the gym!! Grrrrrrr, I cant believe there are people who could afford to waste other people's time like because they had to exercise!!! :box:

Is the US progressing?
Well, I guess this is kind of a rant, but recently I've hearing the news about how Jamacia has just elected their first female prime minister. I hate to say this, but it kinds makes me angry when I see that in other countries, it seems that women are making more progress. As far as being elected in high positions is concerned. The US still hasn't elected a woman as president. I'm not saying that we should elect a president for the purpose of sex, but the reason I question this is because, it doesn't seem like the US has made progress in this area. Is it just our attitudes? And South Korea also has just elected their first female prime minister. Some of us may have noticed, there is nothing really different about our presidents. There probably wasn't much of a difference between Bill Clinton and Goerge W. Bush.
For example, the prime minister of Chile (Michelle Bachelet) is a moderate socialist, she speaks several languages and she studied military strategy and she's a self described agnostic. Also, she's a single mother. Could someone like this run for US president and win?

too many men are NOT willing to accept a woman as their boss or the fact that a woman just might be smarter than them. I also notice a lot of women make comments against women being in positions of power, as being "un-feminine" ?

thats a load of BS,I think some men need to swallow their pride...They`re afraid women might get smart and learn to fend for themselves.How can any woman be un-feminine?it sucks to be expected to act a certain way

And what makes it so bad, is that people who run for US president seem to be traditionally the same. It's not just the fact the we haven't elected a female president yet, it's just that people don't seem to want change. That's why I asked earlier, that if someone were to run for president (weather it's a man or a woman) who spoke several different languages, someone who doesn't share the same religious values (or have any religious values at all) would that type of person win. Looking back in American history at our presidents, most of them came from some sort of religious background, quite of few of them went to law school.
My point here is that, a person who is an agnostic/atheist wouldn't win. Someone who speaks several different langauges wouldn't win. Someone who comes close to even being a socialist would certainly not win. Where's the diversity? :?

Has any woman ever ran for the highest (or second highest) position in America? Arent they allowed to run, or nobody wants to run for that office? Aren't women in America supposedly empowered women?Ma Cherie said:

I think so, our present president is the 2nd lady we've had (ok never mind her the controversies surrounding her); there are lots of women in both senate and congress and and even in other provincial public offices. Despite that I can still say that your society is better at protecting its women. Yes we do have certain laws for the protection of women but sometimes they have no teeth and a lot of times they only work for the rich.

Here is my bummer, although it is not all bad news. I had noticed a couple of days ago that my two-and-a-half year old hamster didn't seem his usual self. Then yesterday I noticed that he was very swollen and bloated around his belly. I took him to the vets, she did an X-ray and we could see a very large mass in his belly, about the size of a golf ball. The vet thinks it is a tumour. But the whole time we were out, from the car journey, sitting in the waiting room, even after the vet had poked and prodded him, the little fellow was running around excited and into everything. So the vet says that although he is too small and too old for her to do anything for him, it is obvious that he is still enjoying life, so she thinks he will be with us a little while longer.
It makes you think - I feel miserable if I have a little headache, but there is my hamster with this huge humour, and he's still enjoying his food, running round his cage as best he can and he's still as friendly and good natured as ever.

And it might not be that bad really. The vet "buried our cat" 4 or 5 years ago, but obviously he was wrong, we nursed her well and she is in good health now, saying with all her attitude "don`t even count on this, folks!"

Sunday morning, I was coming out of a local diner after breakfast and headed back to the crib when I encountered a nicely dressed older woman who looked at me and asked if I were going to church. I politely replied that I wasn't, then she said in what I took as a stern tone that I should, because without God, I wouldn't be breathing and I should give thanks to him. That annoyed me. While I have no use for religion, I respect those that do, yet I can't stand having religious beliefs shoved down my throat. Keeping my temper in check (it was too ncie a day for getting angry), I simply said to her that she might be right and continued on my way. Little scenes like that makes me wish people would leave well enough alone.

Im with you Jeff. Whenever I see or hear bible-thumping self righteous people telling others (or me) what to do, I'd go wondering "What kind of a person exactly are you at home?"
Do you bring a bible and quote godly themes and then come home drunk and beat your wife and kids? My father was like that!

You know what, I just realized that my mother had almost yelled at a Jehovah's Witness before. So, yeah they can be very annoying.
