This has been bugging me for several years now...
...does anyone know the words, in Japanese, to the fire festival chant in Hidden Fortress?
I don't speak japanese, and I've never been able to get a copy of the dvd to check the subtitles in japanese, so all I know is the subtitled english translation.
From what little Nihongo I do know, the translation seems accurate, but I haven't been able to pick out and retain all of the words--especially since about 75% of them are just sounds to me. That scene had a profound impact on me, and although it may seem silly to other people, I'd really like to be able to sing that chant in the language it was written in--it just doesn't sound right when you do it in english.
I know enough about the pronounciation that I could get it right if I just had a copy of the japanese lyrics in romanji--but so far I haven't been able to find such a thing anywhere!
