Manga in American schools

My library has lots of manga; actually I suggested it. (I never thought they'd listen to me of all people. 👍) We have Ranma 1/2, Ah! Megami Sama, Marmalade Boy, Battle Angel Alita, Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon. (Yes, I know.) I always go there and check most of it out.

So, now the otaku of OB, NJ can have a little manga. Let's celebrate!

The Salem Public Library has Manga, but not much. *is very disappointed* I don't like Oregon. Thank God that there is a Cosplay coming up soon. ^_^

When I graduated from my high school last year...they were actually starting to get manga in our library....and then my American Lit. teacher was thinking of adding Neil Gaiman's "The Dream Hunters" to the books to read for the class list...I was amazed...and well I live in small town wisconsin so that's a big step forward....because as it was everyone in my school who was interested in J-rock, anime, manga, or just Japanese culture came to me...because I knew about it I was like a legend for it....either that or people just aren't open minded....the Borders Books and Music here had to move all the manga over and give it a bigger home...it's an impressive selection

my library doesn't have any manga. but one day i was looking in the movie rental section (where all of the discovery chanel documentaries are) and i found princess monuke (spelling*). i would never rent it though cuz then someone might see me with it and the school would find out i still like cartoons (and i'm in high school) and that would be one big mess.

anime isn't like lame cartoons....Mononoke was really deep and insightful besides it was in the documentry section and well it sort of is one...

this is really off topic but u kno wat i just noticed, if u take the h out of fuhyou and replace it with k u get a pretty funny phrase. :)

anyway, ya i kno that was stupid so just get on with the manga in libraries thing and ignore wat i just posted.

yeah mononoke was a great movie. The movie i loved more then that was Spirited Away. Now that was like the best movie ever!!! Anyway The Kare Kano manga is a must buy!!! GO BUY IT NOW lol

I never thought of schools having manga. >_>;; Knowing my school they'd probably just throw them away or have creepy-crusty guys that love anime girls steal them....I have too many of those kind of guys at my school. Our librarian wouldn't dare bring mangas...

We have some people who stare down my belldandy shirt...Hence why no manga exists in the school library. our public one only carries the "how to draw manga'' book series. Can't hurt to learn how though! ;)

my school's library has NOTHING!!!!! *sobs* i hate my school its full of nothing but jocks and preps

I don't know what my school's library has....I started a big enough "revolution" when I still was in high school I gave a speech on J-rock/street fashion and was my visual aid...they might assume manga/j-rock = goth....but they did have a few titles when I graduated...and if my friends who still go there have anything to say about it...there'll be more titles added

hmmm.. well my highschool has an anime club, about 20 members and we started donating manga to our school library. It's cool because ppl check them out all the time!! ^_^

Dude I feel so happy me and the two other manga fans at my middle school suggested to get manga books and the how to draw series at our public library and they now have one they said they would be getting plent of stuff and they would have a japaneese only section were its all about japan and stuff even the comics like ranma 1/2 and the J version of Rurouni Kenshin for those who want to learn japaneese and other stuff like umm lemme think for a second......Battle angel alita and some marmalade boy and even some animes like G Gundam and princess mounouke and spirited away and that one vampire slayer one and something else i cant think of.

KOSU!!! that is a lot. I wish my middle school could rip off enough tax money for that, but no, we had to buy 300 more computers! ER!
