Rape based porn is definitely NOT something that should be encouraged: It's both 'immature and stupid' of people to like it, but it can also be a direct danger to encourage rape porn to be published: Guys and girls will get a very very twisted image of what sex is like. Guys could be encouraged into actually raping - women into believing that rape is something sexy that they need to like in order to be popular. I think you're right about the women who say they 'like' rape porn: I'd say there are very very few who actually DO like it (thus being masochist). Most of the women or girls liking this, do so because they've learned that rape sex is something sexually arousing for the men - you know, the whole 'helpless- and immature- ideal' of the 'perfect' woman in Japan - . I'm not saying ALL japanese women (nor men) are into rape or say they like it - definitely NOT But even if we're not gonna go as extreme as talking about rape porn, you still notice the majority of the japanese females trying to act typically 'girlish' and 'cute' and 'immature'. I don't know if it's the natural reaction from the intercourse, but this has been known to happen. All that brutality and bondage and things like that seem to be fetishes. I don't understand that situation with the tenticles. It's a good point you make there. I think often in cases where people seem that they like to be really dominating, it could be a compensation for a feeling of powerlessness, low self-esteem or insecurity. It becomes a way for them to feel in control or somehow more important.

Which I think surprises people, because they see Japan as this society that is all about technology, which is true in some sense. I see we should try to put ourselves into the mentality of the Japanese, Ma Cherie. The cuteness of Japan surprised me. I knew about Sanrio, but didn't know how pervasive it was.

The underage thing is most disturbing to me, because where do individuals draw the line between fantasy and reality? It may be in the porn but I don't think it is totally accepted there - underage is against the law there and I think this is a universal thing. Also I don't find it attractive in men who are more attracted to girls than women - why would I be attracted to men who prefer girls? It also seems childish.

Most things are probably ok if they're between two consenting adults, even if I might not understand. But I don't really understand the effect things might have psychologically on people, I've read theories, but who knows. Even non-consent is ok between two consenting people. Also just because this stuff is in the porn, it may not be in the mainstream there.

Another thing I don't like is blood and gore, like in "Ichi the Killer". I don't find it interesting, and it's just icky. However, if it adds to the story it's ok. But stuff like, Peter Jacksons brilliant films "Dead Alive" and "Bad Taste", it's ok then. Cos they're funny.
