I'm not really a fan of Gravure (グラビアアイドル, gurabia aidoru*) Idols, I mean, that is to say--- hey, they look very pretty, but a DVD full of sexy non-nudes seems anathema to this American boy...
Still, nonetheless, what's interesting is that Gravure models get paid much much more to pose non-nude than some poor girl who spends an hour with with the "soup men"... so, it makes sense to go this route... Reon Kadena (who you should look into, if you like Aki Hoshino)... started out doing nudes and switched simply to Gravure.
And, admitedly I'm a fan of Aki Hoshino (and Kadena, though she's a bit youngish...)... I think Aki Hoshino is the most beautiful gravure model working in Japan right now...
