I thought Zhang Ziyi did well for someone who'd never practiced martial arts before the movie. Chow Yun Fat did great - I was really disappointed when they came out with another movie shortly after called Bullet Proof Monk. Cornball if I do say so myself -.-
I loved Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, but when I talked to anyone else about it they always found something absolutely ridiculous to complain about. The movie was excellent, plain and simple - Americans don't know a good movie when they see one.

I still haven't seen that one. I've heard that it's very good though.

Jet Li's great! But I think that Chow Yun Fat did a mavelous job, and i'd even go so far as to say that Jet Li wouldn't have done as well. Certainly Jet Li's a great martial artist, but I can't seem him playing the sort of role that Chow Yun Fat had.
Warriors of Heaven and Earth sounds interesting. I need to see some more good martial arts films...

I think Chow Yun Fat is more of an established actor and Jet Li is still emerging among the masses. Jet Li is good but I prefer Chow Yun Fat. Also, I thought BulletProof Monk was alright...not great...but alright. But, I like Seann William Scott too.

I think i'd have to say that I prefer Chow Yun Fat as well.

HERO ain't that new. Zhang Zi Yi's new acting role is in The House Of Flying Daggers which i wanna see pretty badly lol. Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun Fat - i thought their hollywood productions weren't so great.
Jet is never gonna be able to show what he can REALLY do in hollywood. His best work was with The One. There's a huge difference in an american choreographed fight and a hong kong one. I'm just curious here but does the western audience not like speed but instead opt for power in fight scenes?
Chow's prime was back in the late 80's to mid 90's when he was a god with just two pistols.

I agree. The gunplay scenes in "The Killer" and "Hard Boiled" are just amazing. Of course, I suppose that has a lot to do with John Woo too. Wasn't he also in "Another Tomorrow" (or was it "Another Tomorrow 2," whichever was the good one)? That movie had a great action scene at the end, especially with the one guy with the katana slicing people up.
I really enjoyed that one.

3 - I liked that one, too. There are some really good fight scenes. I think that my favorite is in the gym when he takes on the three guys.
4 - Another one of my favorites. Although I would have said "w/ Phillip Rhee" instead of Eric Roberts. The Tommy/Dae Han fight at the end was pretty awesome.
5 - I haven't even heard of that one.
Here are some others that I liked:
1)Mortal Kombat - The fight between Johnny Cage and Scorpion was just incredible.
2)No Retreat, No Surrender I & II - Not great movies, and not really related to one another, but there were some pretty cool fight scenes overall.
3)Return of the Dragon - How could you not like a movie in which Chuck Norris and Bruce Lee duke it out at the end? Good stuff. Of course, just about any of the Bruce Lee movies are good.
4)Rapid Fire - The Bruce Lee comments reminded me of this one, starring his late son, Brandon. I really liked the fight scenes in this movie as well.
I guess that's enough for now, if I think of any more I'll post them.

Of course I knew who Phillip Rhee was. He even did 2 sequels. It's just that he is not a household name like Jackie Lee or Bruce Chan.

How about "Karate Kid"? Now that was a good movie, even though not quite action-packed for the hard-core martial arts fans.
I"m going home now, and I'm gonna stop on my way at a Japanese video store and see if they have the tape of K-1 Romanex event where Kazuyuki Fujita mauled Bob Sapp and my boy Genki Sudo KTFO Royler Gracie.

Tai Chi master 1 was amazing. Didn't any of you guys like Kiss of the Dragon ? It was partially a European production. I though the fight scenes there were pretty good, when Li takes on the huge black guy and the last fight with those 2 twins. And let's not forget the Defender.
