I've never been to Japan for now, but i will!!! for sure!! I'm attracted to this culture and also to modern and classical architecture there! "see the katsura and die" would be my line ; ))

I'm just about to send off an application form for a student visa so I can study at The Yamasa Instutute in Okazaki , Japan from April next year. It'll be my first visit (at last!) and once I get there, I might not leave

i am started with japan when started particing martial arts (Kempo/Kenpo from china mixed with okinawa style. But that was a long time ago. Me and ex really loved anime amanga and asia. So even when we broke up we kept talking about that and enjoying it.. Now that my company is growing and giving me much more freedome i am planning to head to Tokyo over a year. I still have to figure out how long i can stay because i know the max is 3 months for a holiday but i would like to stay for about a year or even for ever. I know a few people there is it is all fun. As far as work i don't have to worry as i work from home and my money is keeping getting in nomatter where i live. Really looking forward to it.

Don't worry. I didn't get there until I was 47 and I wanted to go there since high school. If you want something bad enough, you'll find a way to go. Save your money and set a target date for going. You'll be surprised on what you can accomplish!

Wow! Pachipro-san, thank you so much for your compliment, which really encourages me to study more.
Even though I have only been abroad for 5 days and I don't really have anyone who speaks English around, I have internet.

I have a few English speaking friends who talk with me with a mic online, and as you might already know, I have some great teachers here on Jref who help me kindly and perfectlly like a pro with my questions. I really really thank all of them for their kindness and patience and I will keep studying and I hope to become more fluent like other Japanese people here some day.

Seeing Japanese people who write very good English here is part of my motivation for learning.

but the thought of being by myself, and not being fluent in Japanese, scares me... but i WILL go one day. it is the one thing that i have sit in my mind as something i absolutely MUST do.

I lived in japan for about a year. Was living near the beach in Hiratsuka (平塚) and teaching english for Nova. Granted they may not have been the best company however if you just went with the flow it was fine, and i really did make a lot of friends through the place. I plan to go back in a year or so to make some money, last time i just concentrated on having fun. . . and I really did

I'm planning on studying abroad as a UC Berkeley student in Spring '08. I'd be studying in Doshisha in Kyoto . I need a year of Japanese, but it's a bit complicated, cuz I'm a Spring admit (I'm in the process of transfering, actually). Therefore, I can't take Japanese 1A, which means I have to wait until the fall, which'll be too late, cuz the program is for the next semester. SO I'm studying the Japanese 1A textbook to take a placement exam to hopefully get into 1B this spring, and then continue onto 10A (Intermediate level). *crosses fingers*
