Caster, did I get you right?
I give a resume of your last two posts here in Japanese with English translation. (the Japanese are to ensure maximum understanding, as long as you are a native speaker)

南京事件は事実であるならば,拒否できない.しかし,どの人でも,自分がやったことを拒否できる権利があるので,事実であるかないかにもかかわらず,とりあえず拒否させて下さい.

正しい解釈ですか?

English translation: The Nanking Incident cannot be denied if it is a fact. But as long as every person has the right to deny what he has done, I would like to deny this incident, doesn't matter whether it is a fact or not.

Is this the right interpretation?

Keep in mind that Caster can agree that something happened, but disagree with what actually happened.

I've read through this thread a number of times and would like Caster to answer 3 questions.

In the case of the Naking (Rape of?) Incident, what do you, Caster, think occured?

Also is it a figment of everyones imagination that so many people were killed?

Lastly if it wasn't the Japanese that were responsible for what occured who logically could be blamed?

I really really hate digging up old war-crimes of Japan, Germany, but this thread is so gross.
Caster is claiming people raped have voluntarily stepped up.
Well, what about this. Have you ever heard of Unit 731 or Maruta experiment?
As many as ten thousand people, both civilian and military, of Chinese, Korean, Mongolian, and Russian origin were subjects of experimentation by Unit 731.[1] Some American and European Allied prisoners of war also died at the hands of Unit 731.[2] In addition, the use of biological weapons researched in Unit 731's bioweapons program resulted in tens of thousands of deaths in China – possibly as many as 200,000 casualties by some estimates.[3]
Unit 731 was one of many units used by the Japanese to research biological warfare; other units included Unit 516 (Qiqihar), Unit 543 (Hailar), Unit 773 (Songo unit), Unit 100 (Changchun), Unit 1644 (Nanjing), Unit 1855 (Beijing), Unit 8604 (Guangzhou), Unit 200 (Manchuria) and Unit 9420 (Singapore).
I am not going to list any examples of what Unit 731 did because its the most grotesque thing you could ever read on the internet. Let me just say they used pregnant women in their experiment. Is Caster going to argue these people who were tested were volunteering and giving up their life for Japan?
This is exactly why Koreans and Chinese are still scared of Japan. what if a person likes caster gains popularity? There needs to be a universal condemnation of such a view.

And in case you want a solid "Japanese" evidence:
(I can't add 3rd site websites to link a picture directly). I think this needs to be changed.

On the above website, there is a scanned article of a newspaper in Tokyo how the army or the government wanted to portray foreign lives.
Caption: Two Japanese officers, Toshiaki Mukai and Tsuyoshi Noda competing to see who could kill (with a sword) one hundred people first. The bold headline reads, "'Incredible Record' (in the Contest To Cut Down 100 People―Mukai 106 – 105 Noda―Both 2nd Lieutenants Go Into Extra Innings"

Nanking...

It is so funny...

according to 張連紅・南京師範大学教授(南京大虐殺研究センター主任),程兆奇・上海社会科学院歴史研究所研究員

search Unit 731 on wikipedia, and you get the list of atrocities that the Japanese Imperial Army did to foreigners. It is on par with Nazis if not worse.

Search "Japanese War Crime" and you get a scan from Japanese newspaper where two generals are competing who beheaded more enemies. Their count was 103-104

From Wikipedia.
-------------------------------------------------------
The Home Ministry declared martial law, and ordered each section police chief to put the maintenance of order and security as a priority. One of the messages was that "There are some Koreans who are taking advantage of this disaster, committing arson as part of robberies within Tōkyō. Some of them possess bombs. Tōkyō is under martial law and each area (of police force) should be extremely vigilant about Korean activities." Some newspapers reported this message. This started the deadliest rumour of all, that Koreans are rioting, committing looting and arson, and most importantly, poisoning wells. The numerous fires and cloudy well water (a little-known effect of a big quake) all seemed to confirm the rumours in the eyes of the fear-stricken survivors living in the rubble. Vigilante groups set up roadblocks in cities, towns and villages across the region. Because people with Korean accents pronounced "G" or "J" in the beginning of words differently, 15窶ー~ 50窶婁 (jū-go-en, go-jū-sen) and 窶堋ェ窶堋ャ窶堋ョ窶堋ー窶堋イ (gagigugego) were used as shibboleths. Anyone who failed to pronounce them properly was deemed Korean. Some were told to leave, but many were beaten or killed. Moreover, anyone mistakenly identified as Korean, such as Chinese, Okinawans, and Japanese speakers of some regional dialects, suffered the same fate....
More than 2,000 Koreans were taken in for protection from the mobs across the region, although recent studies have shown that there were incidents where army and police personnel are known to have condoned or even colluded in the vigilante killings in some areas. The chief of police of Tsurumi (or Kawasaki by some accounts) is reported to have publicly drunk the well-water to disprove the rumour that Koreans have been poisoning wells. In some towns, even police stations into which Koreans had escaped were attacked by mobs, whereas in other neighbourhoods residents took steps to protect them.
The total death toll from these disturbances is uncertain; according to the investigation by the Home Ministry, confirmed victims of vigilante justice were 231 Koreans killed and 43 injured, 3 Chinese killed, 59 Japanese (including Okinawans) killed and 43 injured. Actual estimates range as high as 6,600, although politically independent studies put the figure at just over 2,500. Three hundred and sixty-two Japanese civilians were eventually charged (for murder, attempted murder, manslaughter and assault), though most got off with nominal sentences, and even those who were sent to jail were later released with a general pardon commemorating the marriage of Prince Hirohito. In contrast, the actual number of Koreans who were charged for crimes during this period were 2 for murder, 3 for arson, 6 for robbery and 3 for rape.
--------------------------------------------------------
Japanese army generals helped massacred Koreans, Chinese and Okinawaians during a peaceful time in their own capital city. Do you think the Imperialist army wolud not have killed Chinese or Koreans during war abroad?
Stupidity.

Hi to all,

I found the undermentioned in the Asahi Newspaper Online this morning.

Facing up to History: Neatly dressed and disciplined, Hitler Youth was a hit in Japan

02/02/2007

BY YASUJI NAGAI, THE ASAHI SHIMBUN

The Hitler-Jugend (Hitler Youth), a paramilitary youth organization of Germany's Nazi Party, sent a delegation to Japan on the eve of World War II.

The group stayed for three months and received a passionate welcome as it toured the nation, which strengthened its ties with Germany and followed the path that eventually led to Pearl Harbor.

On the morning of Oct. 7, 1938, members of the Hitler-Jugend stood in front of Yamada Station (now JR Ise-shi Station) near the outer shrine of Ise Jingu Shrine in Ise, Mie Prefecture.

The German youths raised their right hands in a Nazi salute in response to a throng of spectators who welcomed them with waving flags and marched on to the shrine in perfect order.

Mitsuo Takahashi, who runs a clothing store near the station, saw them at a close distance.

"I was taken aback at how big they were," said Takahashi, 83, looking back.

The Hitler-Jugend was organized by Nazi Germany with an aim to train youths to support the totalitarian state.

As of the beginning of 1938, it was 7-million strong. The participation of all German boys between the ages of 10 and 18 became mandatory in 1939.

In 1938, Japan and Germany organized an exchange program for boys of both countries to visit each other.

The German delegation visited Yasukuni Shrine, the Education Ministry and the prime minister's residence among other places. It also interacted with young Japanese people through such activities as camping in Lake Yamanakako in Yamanashi Prefecture and climbing Mount Fuji.

The radio also aired a special program to welcome them, while the poet Hakushu Kitahara (1885-1942) wrote the lyrics for the song "Banzai Hitler-Jugend," which said, "the Hakenkreuz (swastika) shines with radiance."

The Asahi Shimbun also reported the visit in detail. For example, on Aug. 22, it ran a story about the group's scaling of Mount Fuji under the headline "Sacred mountain resounds with a chorus of anti-communism."

On Sept. 21, the newspaper hosted a welcome lecture for the delegation at Hibiya Kokaido Hall in Tokyo, where editor-in-chief Taketora Ogata delivered the following speech: "Today, we still have something that we must learn from Germany. And that something is the Hitler-Jugend."

Hisakazu Nakamichi, professor of history of political thought at the University of Kitakyushu and the author of "Kimi wa Hitler-Jugend o Mita-ka?" (Have you seen the Hitler-Jugend?), said: "Ordinary citizens who saw the extremely well-controlled behaviour of the neatly dressed members told themselves that is how model youths should be.

"By pulling at people's heartstrings, the exchange program accelerated the move to integrate various government and civilian organizations and incorporate them into the mechanism of national defence," he said. "It also became the turning point in spurring public opinion to the path that led to the attack on Pearl Harbor."

Between July and September of 1938, Japan sent its own 30-member mission of university students, teachers, farmers and factory workers selected from youth organizations across the nation to Germany.

The group attended a Nuremberg rally on Sept. 10 and underwent a review by Adolf Hitler.

Sanae Inatomi, 90, who lives in Shiroishi, Saga Prefecture, and was an elementary school teacher at the time, took a leave of absence to join the mission.

He saw Hitler at the convention and remembers him as a big man with a fair complexion.

The tone of Hitler's speech was not as intense as he had expected. He spoke with pauses between phrases, and the audience shouted "Heil!" at each interval, according to Inatomi. Many people were moved to tears.

Inatomi, who served as a record keeper, vowed to keep his eyes open throughout the rally so as not to miss anything but was so awed by the German leader that he felt faint and could barely stay on his feet.

Other members of the Japanese delegation were also entranced. They could not remember the colour of Hitler's eyes and later, they debated whether they were brown, grey or blue.

Upon returning to Japan, a member of the delegation told a reporter: "(In Germany) principles of guidance to students are firmly established on the foundation of totalitarianism. I strongly felt that Japanese students lack training in this regard."

The Hitler-Jugend visited Japan again from October to December 1940.

In January 1941, immediately after the second visit, Japan organized "Dai-Nippon Seishonen-dan" (Greater Japan youth organization) by placing regional youth organizations across the nation under centralized government control.

The Education Ministry's explanation that all extra-curricular activities serve as training for young people shows the nationwide organization was partly styled after the German model.

Japan's attack on the U.S. Pacific fleet at Pearl Harbor and offensive on Malaya on Dec. 8, 1941, marked the opening of the Pacific War.

The Japanese public was overjoyed at Japan's victories in the early stages of the war.

All teachers at the elementary school where Inatomi taught were assembled at the teachers' office where the principal tearfully told them that Japan was at war with the United States.

Inatomi remembers how he felt dismayed that Japan was going to war against such a big power.

Takahashi was drafted in 1944 and sent to the front in China. When he returned to Japan in 1946, he found the main street of his hometown where the Hitler-Jugend marched had been burned down.

"Internally, no one was happy about the war," he said. "But before we knew, we were living in a society that did not allow us to speak out."(IHT/Asahi: February 2, 2007)

I think it is very famous though this asahi's article is strange..
there are many pics and articles at that time.

I think those nations that have invaded others all should apologise to. Or they won't be real responsible strong nations..Especially Japan,if Japan want to be one of the leaders of the world, economy is not enough,,I think you japanese can
understand what I mean.

you dont know the news of last week?
what news of last week? are you trying to say japan is not responsible for any of this?
laughable! and you claim and charge koreans and chiense for the most miniscule things with no evidence whatsoever, and you say japan has done nothing in light of all the evidence that most major scholars in the world agree on. You show a clip from a Japanese television to prove that nanking didnt happen?
One average american person arguing with bunch of Japanese, and all they are doing is discussing how many died in Nanking. 300,000 or 20,000. They cant even argue, so all they do is attack the American guy and shout at him.

You are one delusioned Japanese. This is why chinese always say Japan have never apologized, because people like you refuse to admit the past wrong doings, and they know you are not alone.

History is only past, and it should not play a role in the future. But if people cannot admit the history, there is no future for them.

what news of last week? are you trying to say japan is not responsible for any of this?
about 731...
and korea annexation
Because pursuant to international laws at the time, Japan had acted "Lawfully" in Korea.
In the International Science Council opened at Harvard University on 16-17 November 2001, the international society concluded that Japan's Annexation of Korea had been lawful. [1]
South and North Korea make an unfounded accusation without legal bases

This is why Chinese always say Japan has never apologized because people like you refuse to admit the past wrongdoings, and they know you are not alone.
😊
apology and truth are different matters.☝
and japan does not need to apologize anymore

and why do the Chinese avoid this?

you are not making any sense. I would suggest you look into what Unit 731 is.
Unit 731 is a biological testing centre that the Japanese Imperial Army has set up in various places of China. They would freeze people, cut their arms open, inject water, amputate body parts, and test how long the subjects would survive. They have also tested on pregnant woman and children.
What does that have anything to do with annexation? Are you saying, since Korea was annexed by Japan, Japan carried out the tests on "Japanese" so there needs to be no apology?
You are one screwed person if you believe that. A pure right-wing war-loving psycho.
Not to mention that the test subjects included Chinese and Russians. Why do the Chinese not need to apologize for that? Because they were acting in response to the Japanese army killing and raping the Chinese people. If anything, Japan needs to apologize to Korea for that incident, because grotesque actions of the Japanese led to Chinese retaliation which killed the Koreans.
Also, I suggest you stop right now. You are making the Japanese people look bad in the world. If you look over this thread, not one person agreed with you. You are just making the international community sympathize with Chinese, Philippinos, Taiwanese and Koreans. More you post, more they think the Japanese are wrong.

Apologies for me being blunt, but I just realized you have IQ below 75. Why did I even spend time arguing with you?

Jun, I sympatise to your cause, but I'm afraid the words you are using are offensive to the person. This doesn't do any good to your cause.

If you feel there's no point in discussing, there are so many other threads...

Replying to the person abrove, who got banned for assuming that Japanese are Asia's public enemy number 1.

That is a false assumption. Do you know why you're wrong to think that Japanese are the most hated people in Asia? The answer is simple, for example many people would assume that the Chinese hates Japanese, but I think this is scientifically incorrect.

The reason for this, is because even within China itself there are many different kinds of ethic, regardless to the fact that no doubt the Japanese may have a similar dna that the Chinese have.

My point is, the Chinese people are made up of many different cultures, it's only politically correct that, Chinese is one race. For a fact I have to say, right now I dislike the northern chinese a lot more than the Japanese. I'm speaking as a Chinese, but a southern Chinese.

Honestly I have to say I don't seem to able to hold a grudge against the Japanese, as much as I do for the Chinese mainlander(Politically correct). Personally I would like to date a japanese woman! :-)

hmm, as a Korean born and raised in the U.S., I never understood why the Koreans had such hostile feelings towards the Japanese for something that happened more than half a century ago, but now it seems clear, to me, it looks something like this:

little girl ricecake: Hey! You took my toy!
little boy caster51: What? No, I didn't
little girl ricecake: Yes you did.
little boy caster51: No here let me explain why
1) This toy is man-made, you and I are both "man" so it is mine just as much as it is yours
2) This toy consists of the same material you, I and the universe have in common, so it is a piece of me as much as it is a piece of you
3) blah blah
4) etc...
5) reason number 5
little girl ricecake: what? *flys over to japan and burns Japanese flags*

hehe bye ^-^

Considering the current historical disputes between South Korea and China about the ancient history such as Northeast Project of the Chinese Academy of Social Science, it may be plausible that Korean people will never forgive or forget what Japan did till next 1000 years.
But what I don't understand is that there are nationalistic (for South Korea and maybe some for North?) Korean Americans, not like you, in the US. I sometimes see the translation of some articles in the Korean American community paper claiming the same nationalistic argument like the one in South Korea.
