Hope I'm not stepping on any toes with this thread -- which series are you all following at this time?

As this will likely change with time, you can post a different answer later on, as you move on to different series.

Watching for the first time:
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Naruto Shippuuden
Ouran High School Host Club

Rewatching:
Bubblegum Crisis
Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Just Finished:
Steamboy

Cheers!

Half way through several things:
GITS SAC 2nd Gig (all now bought, up to ep 16)
Otoshi Zoshi (seen the first 13, but none of the modern arc)
Gilgamesh (waiting to buy vol 3)
Last Exile (waiting to buy vol 3)
Last Love Song on This Little Planet (all bought, but only watched up to ep 6)
Excel Saga (waiting to buy vol 2)

I do tend to wait until each successive volume reduces in price before purchasing (yes, I'm a tight-*rse) so some series take me a while to get through. It's nice when completed, though, to watch the whole thing again in one crazy blitz.

Saw the first Karas yesterday which was interesting. I don't know when the second half is coming out, though.

I have only watched one Anime avidly so far, and thats:
Azumanga Daioh
I have seen up to episode 13, but I only own vol1 (episode 1-5)
So if anyone has any anime recomendations please tell me

I haven't watched a new anime since Black Lagoon, but I have been reading a lot of manga.

Eyeshield 21
Open Sesame
Suzuka
Pastel

I know a couple of them have been made into anime already, but I was so disappointed with the first few episodes of Suzuka that I decided to avoid them until I was done reading.

I finished and loved "Pumpkin Scissors" and "Red Garden", also waiting for the last ep for "Nodame Cantabile", "Kin' iro no Corda", "Code Geass" and "Ghost Hunt".

Currently watching "Tokyo Majin Gakuen".

@Arlet
If you like Bishies, check out the "Saint Beast", new anime.
If you like romance, I'd definitely recommend "Emma (second act)", and if you like comedy... er... read on Ohran.

@ToroMay
I liked Saiunkoku, too. If you're still interesteed in it, the second season will start in April. ^_^

Just finished watching Genshiken, which is very entertaining at times and at others completely dull. It's an anime about Japanese otaku (video games, cosplay, anime, models, etc) and how people around them deal with their hobby. What I want to watch next is the show that ran concurrently called "Fujibiki Unbalance." The DVDs for Genshiken had a couple of episodes for free, and it looked like a harmless diversion.

I've also been meaning to watch Haruhi. My brother has it on DVD but I've just been too wrapped up in manga, video games and my regular life to get to it.

Haruhi? There were two Haruhi animes last season...lol
Heheh, I know, you mean, Suzumiya Haruhi, right? Not, Fujioka Haruhi (Ohran High School thingy)...

Yeah, Melancholy of Haruhi. I tend to be pretty behind in anime, if only because I watch it so rarely, by the time I get around to it I want something I KNOW is good. As a result, I end up going with the ones most lauded on this here internet.

Finishing up DEATH NOTE and CODE GEASS at this point. Still enjoying NARUTO SHIPPUUDEN.

That's good, I mean, that way you won't waste your time watching animes that are poorly made.
I try about 20 or more animes every season. I watch first episode or two of almost all new anime to see if I want to follow, and end up dropping about half of them that doesn't look like my taste. I do this because just reading introduction/information on the net is not just enough for me to decide.
But you know it's time-consuming indeed! >_<

Anyway, as for Melancholy of Haruhi, I dropped after ep1 actually, because ep1 was rather weird. But then I heard it has a good reputation afterwards ... So I got to watch the rest... But then again, I only liked ep12 after all... oh, that and the ending song with Haruhi dance!

there's gonna be a 2nd season of higurashi no naku koro ni =D

I just watched:-
Shakugan no Shana
Ghost Hunt
Final Approach

Currently now I am crazy about Bleach...really good anime..

Movies I rented recently:

Samurai rebellion (1967)
Fighting Elegy (Elegy to Violence) Kenka Erejii (highly recomended BY ME)
Kill (Kiru) by Kihachi OKamoto (1968)

and of course....

Seven Samurai (1954) by you know that guy.... Kuroswawa something

Library is acquiring a lot of 60's samurai doramas and i am eating them up....

Seven Samurai (1954) by you know that guy.... Kuroswawa something
Akira Kurosawa!!

I went to some sort of museum devoted to him last year.. It was situated in the small town of Imari, Saga prefecture for some reason. It was pretty interesting!! I'm ashamed to say that I have never seen 7 Samurai from begin to end though..

I'm not really watching a Manga right now, but I'm a big fan of Kintamago. I can't stop laughing when I'm watching it..

Speaking of Kurosawa, I just watched "Madadayo," which was his final movie. In contrast to the samurai stuff that made him famous, it's about a WWII era professor who retires to become an author and his continuing relationship with his students after a series of life-changing events. Heartwarming and charming, I think it's a great movie about getting old and how your age isn't as important as your attitude.

Right now I'm actually watching Sailor Moon. I never saw it, having been utterly turned off by the commercials when it was shown on Saturday mornings in English. Now I find Usagi hilarious and the series to be a nice fun little diversion.

Kurosawa was great, until he stopped interpreting King Lear, and in the end just made homages to himself, though still as a master, those self-obsessed homages (Yume, Maadadayo) were great nonetheless... but other Japanese directors drew a great distate for his vanity.

Maadadayo, sorry, I didn't see your post, was Kurosawa's tribute to himself.... it has basis in factual figures, but kurosawa fully intended it as an homage to himself. Beautiful movie, nonetheless.

It is again, I say, a beautiful movie, nonetheless...

If you like Bishies[...]
fu fu--- Que, you are wonderful.
