but some yaoi are really nice stories, even if they're really graphic it doesn't mean it's all about sex (maybe it's only in 60% about sex )

but Yaoi, by definition is the hentai..... so it's most likely the doujinshis.....

have you read love mode? it's about guys who are prostitutes and their dramatic life and about that how people reject them and so on... worth to read, really
same with that manga i recommended you in gravi thread - it's about guys who are av stars but it's also about their relations with their families which don't accept their job, their relationship, they have some problems with showing to other people that they're couple or some moral problems...

both these manga have 8 and 11 volumes so it's hard have sex for 1600 pages (i'm not denying - these are yaoi if not hard yaoi, but the story exists and it's quite good like for a comic book)

Shonen-ai/Shojo-ai = manga bassed around a homosextual relationship. it can be really subtle, such as Deamon Diary.... or pretty hard cor like.... well, what you described, or FAKE (the last 2 volumes at least....)

like a film that contains a lot of sex scenes.... it isn't porn, it's just a pretty heavy going film.

Shonen-ai/Shojo-ai have the sex senes in, following the story line,
Yaoi/Yuri has the storyline in following the sex scenes...

i think we have the same problem with these words as we do 'otaku'

like i said.... this is my understanding.... and i do think it's the western abuse of simple terms that generally means the same thing to them that we use Yaoi so lightly....

shonen ai = no sex, only kisses, manga is concentrated on emotions and stuffs like that (it's +13)
yaoi = sex included (yaoi ia always +18 or at least +16)
hard yaoi = porn
very hard yaoi (today i saw such cathegory in shop ) = i think i don't have to explain that

Yeah, umbrella term. Meaning that mostly Westerns use the term yaoi to mean boy/boy relationships that are linked to anime, manga, ect. In Japan it seems it's only limited doujinshi's and sex scenes.

Okay darlings, I know this is confusing, but I'll try to sum this up the best way I know how.

I'll start with Shonen ai, this term is used to describe strong relationships between two boys. At times it's a platonic relationship. Many of you may have noticed by reading Shonen ai that it's more angsty. And also romantic relationships.

Yeah, I someone has defined what yaoi and shonen ai is. But I just wanted to say it again. Yes, there are some shonen ai stories with sex scenes, but it seems that shonen ai is more emotional. Yaoi on the other hand, seems like it deals more with sex. I don't even think love is involved in yaoi stories. At least not most of the time. :?
