Personally the way I see it, women like yaoi because of the "soft sweetness" that two beautiful men can treat towards each other in a loving way. The same could be said about men with lesbians and the "soft" "sweet" factor. A lot of men like yuri just because of the sex, and the uninhibited thought of being a part of that. I'm sure the same could be said for women with yaoi too. Personally I'm not a big fan of same sex hentai. Yaoi, obviously because I'm not gay. Yuri, because I'm more about the emotion than all the sex that's crammed into it (call me a romantic if you will). That's my two cents on the matter anyway.

Does anyone here remember when they were first introduced to yoai or shonen ai? Or what you thought when you first boyxboy relationships? The first anime I saw with yoai was Kizuna, and for some reason I was fanscinated by the characters relationship. And that's when I became interested in yoai, so as of now I'm currently reading Gravitation and FAKE.

Um... good question. I can't really remember what my first yaoi was... it wasn't too long ago or anything.. just.. I guess I was into pretty guys (who isn't!?) and there are a LOT of bishonen in the yaoi - so eventually I stumbled across some shonen-ai manga..I think it was a Prince of Tennis Doujinshi (sp?)
Anyways, ever since, I am loving it. kawaiiiiiiiiiii (and sexy) *LOVE YAOI*

It's very well recepted over there... most teenage girls read/watch it. Yes... it's strange though, that tis so well accepted in Japan, when it's not (almost not) accepted at all in (Sweden) and.. Europe and America?

Maybe it's because gay men who write gay man stuff are getting a bit, erm, yeah when they write it and kind of yeah...? And same with lesbians who write lesbian stuff? So if they write about the sexuality they aren't attracted to, they'd actually get better material since they're not getting all...Yeah...xDDD

They didn't consider it wrong and just because people now-a-days probably do, doesn't actually make it wrong. Especially since there are a lot of "wrong" things people do in modern times. And lastly, how do you know they didn't want it? We have no way of knowing and, if they didn't like it so much, then why would they continue on with the little "tradition"?
