Exactly WHAT gives you the right to say a boy x boy relationship is like a man with an animal or a child? That's offensive and plain stupid. Homosexual relationships should be as accepted as heterosexual ones, and it's NOT illegal, as sex with children or animals. I simply can't understand homophobic people, how they can be soo blind, conservative and stuck up.

Also the way you say Yuri is OK, while Yaoi is the sickest thing ever is a really annoying way of looking upon it. If those are your beliefs, please explain why (and I mean in a GOOD way and NOT by stating some stupid examples) Yuri is sweet too, I guess we're all into different things. I have no problem with you liking yuri and disliking yaoi, but AGAIN I will state that the way you state your opinions is...

You also don't seem to have actually watched any yaoi, and you assume it's all about sex. As with any other genre, there are good and bad series/artists/stories, but I could tell you this; most of them are NOT only about sex, and especially not when it comes to shonen-ai, where sex often doesn't even have a part in the story. Many series are built up on well developed characters, good plot and a lot of emotional variety, and should NOT be mistaken for plain porn or whatever.

i think shonen-ai's hott cos it shows strength of character... i mean, you get the whole moral debate about whether it's 'right' and stuff... and... cos... it two guys.... tow pretty guys.... together....

i like shojo-ai too... but shonen-ai's hotter... shonen-ai can have THe sweetest stories... but they're difficult to find.

I am clueless about yaoi (I'm from England, OK??) but someone hit the nail on the head earlier in the thread - 2 hot guys gotta be better than one, ne?

It's a bit lonesome J-rock-wise here in the green and pleasant (sp?) land - mostly if I get talking about music people just look at me like I'm crazy. As a musician (guitar, voice, keyboard) the music comes first - but, crikey, some of those hot hot hot guys out there....

where about in england? i'm there too... there's actually quite a large jrock fanbase here... it's in general tied in with manga... like, at aycon this year, BLOOD are playing *is so excited* and i'm REALLY hoping my friend can get enough together to go see them... cos i'm not going without her >.<

Have you ever thought about the manliness phenomena of the bishonens of yaoi and jrock? (I'm not comparing jrock to yaoi... err.. I'm referring to the pretty boys of jrock, who in some ways act somewhat yaoi-ish...)

For people who aren't into the whole yaoi thing, and the reaction is usually; (and especially among guys) 'They're sooooo GAY!' or 'Why would they wanna look like women!?'. Or at least that's the reaction I get from most people I know. People don't find them 'manly'.

But actually, to me, the bishonens, or jrockers or whatever, are very manly! To me, they aren't women or gay at all (and they aren't!), the thing is, when they dress up and do the fanservice stuff, to me that makes them even more attractive as men, than they would be if they showed off great huge muscles and carried some gun (or something manly like that..err? :?) To me, it's like, I don't really see the real macho men as manly - I more think of them as stupid: Are they soo very unsure about themselves that they have to constantly show of all their manly power and be macho-like? While the pretty bishonens, who don't need to constatly remind themselves and others that they are 'manly', can explore their more feminine sides. This therefore makes them more attractive!

And it's not that I think, 'hey, that jrocker looks like a woman, damn he/she's HOT!', everytime I see a jrocker - I don't want the jrockers to be women! I want them to be men. They're manly to me. (whatever 'manly' means... stupid word...!)

Besides, many jrockers (with some exceptions) - despite their beautiful (feminine) looks and their fanservice, act very manly in many ways, and that is using the 'true' definition of the word 'manly'. There would be NO WAY I could ever see Gackt (especially Gackt) or Toshiya or Kyo or Miyavi as women, after having watched them move, speak and act... They're just too manly! XDD (Manly in a good way!)

Err.. I'm not sure what I'm talking about...? But I hope you get my point..!

Yea... screw them. I don't view them as gay or women. Even when I first was introduced to j-rock almost 5 years ago. My friend showed me a picture of Mana... my reaction was "He's so pretty. I love his dress" Not... "omg gay" or "that's gotta be a woman" Sure j-rock/visual kei at first isn't the easiest thing to the eyes for most people. I consider it an aquired taste. People have to be eased into it. A lot of the guys I know say stuff like "Damn she's hot" and I have to tell them (with and evil grin of course XD) that they are infact men. There reaction is usually something along the lines of "Oh I feel really dirty now."

That's just stupid... my friend while watching a Dir en Grey dvd was like Shinya's hot... then he found out he was a man and was very quiet from then on making a few comments only about guitar riffs and drumming and how awesome a bassist Toshiya was.

I understand what you mean. Yea when my friend watched Moon Child she said "Oh my God.... Gackt's voice is so deep he sounds like a guy... and acts like one too" Well of course. She had only see photos of him. You can't judge a j-rockers "manliness" by the pictures he take... haha. She was so shocked because just looking at him you wouldn't think. Now she gushes over how beautiful he is and manly. Same with Toshiya. Once she saw clips of him shopping and stuff outside of performing she thought he was the prettiest thing.

I see them as men... and never as gay unless they say they are gay or bi. It's an image is all not a lifestyle. They are very masculine outside of their performances and photoshoots. You would never mistake them as women without makeup because they don't look like women unless they are covered in makeup and in women's clothing.

Kind of like the band Judus Preist. The only difference was their shows were filled with all the masculinity you could imagine. The funny thing is, the lead singer was gay. While it's the exact reverese with Gackt's performances. He makes it out to be feminine, but in reality he's not gay at all. Weird how people can play their roles so well in front of the fans, but be so different when not in the public eye ne?
