I read from Time that the World Expo 2005 will be in Japan, particularly in Aishi. I bet it's gonna be worth seeing... 👍

Been there, done that, got the Tee-shirt!

I've been to Japan. Several times.

Unfortunately, the combined effects of age, health (or lack there of), and financial resources will likely insure that such trips will never be repeated. I do have my memories, but that is all.

However, even though I voted "NO" I must admit that there is always a chance.

Lena and I will be in Japan on March 20 for two weeks. We plan on scouting out future jobs and possible housing opportunities.
And if there's a party happening .....We're in!!!

I will absolutley visit Japan someday. I am not sure when, but i will! I need the money first! :D

After i get enough money ill try to make it for summer '05, if i cant make it to japan by then, then ill have to make it in '06, which i hope it doesnt come to that, but it might... :(

i'm in japan on an internship leave from school until june. after i graduate in '06, i'm planning, or rather, my company, is planning on having me work in the US division...most likely going back and forth form the japan offices and the US...wee!

Not in 2005, but maybe in 2006 or 2007 as a university exchange student for a term or two. :-)

Not sure if my grades would be good enough to make me eligible but I'll give my best shot. 😌

I went at the end of october/start of november 2004 for 10 days. It was so good that i really want to go back again soon! I want to go back in spring time to see the sakura. But i dont think i will be able to go this spring so it may have to be next year. 🙂

I really do want to go to japan, but I don't even know when I will ever get to japan.

*sighs*

I really wanna go to japan *sighs*

any suggestions?

Would love to go. Just need to save £££. Hopefully in a couple of years and when my japanese is better

I would love to go to Japan but i'm kinda savin up for a car. However, i'm quiet impulsive. I could just wake up one morning, grab my dosh and go to Japan.

If I manage to control myself though, I will probably be going to Japan in 2006/07 :win:

I want to study abroad there, but i can't do that until Sophmore/Junior year of College...or 2-3 years from now. At the same time, reading some of the stuff here that people said happens in Japan, makes me somewhat scared to go there.

I'll be around for all of July and most of August. Hmm.... perhaps this would make another good poll?

:?

I think Tokyo is the best place to meet, but I can do Kansai, too.

I just want to follow up on Mad Pierrot's message....
Who is in Japan in (2005):

JULY?

AUGUST?

SEPTEMBER?

OCTOBER?

NOVEMBER?

DECEMBER?

Maybe a restaurant-get-together would be fantastic...especially as I know we have plenty to talk about from this lively forum.....

Thanks!

For bringing the topic around!

I'll be here for July and some of August, gone for awhile, and back most likely for September. I'm still interested in planning a get-together, if anyone else is up for it. I'll be in Tokyo at the start of August, so that would be a good time to meet for me. I'd also be willing to make arrangements and such, i.e. reservations at a restaurant/izakaya, etc if warrented.

What do you think?

I will be in Japan in about 2.5 weeks' time! Pretty excited......will be visiting Tokyo, Sendai, Aomori and Sapporo.....all by JR trains.......can't wait!!!!

^_^

I've already got my hotel and plane reservations. December 2005 - I get in the day after xmas and leave the day after new years day.

So - anyone want to meet me in Kyoto for a beer? :-)

Hit expedia.com and be ready to do long term planning. My trip includes planefare and hotel and it cost me $1900 - and yes, that is both legs of the flight - there AND back. I jsut have to wait till December. But then again, Kyoto in December is like late summer here in Buffalo so I will actualy ENJOY the weather that time of year! :-)

I have no problems taing back returnable bottles and dumping the change in a jar. EVERY bit of change you save can go into a big old jar and you put a sign on it: "How much is this dream worth to you?" If it takes two or three years, so what? Gives you time to pack.

Having a dream is great, but all you ahve to do to get it is give it a little effort every day and then one morning you find yourself with tickets in hand and a HUGE grin on your face.

2.5 month to goooooo... waa counting off .... i go to kobe, osaka, himeji, anddddd KYOTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.....

Kenshin,, please teach me .... OrO...

1 month japan.. Happyyyyyyyyyyyy Happuhyyyy Happuhyhyyyyyyyyy

hopefully next year and more than likely in tokyo, i just need to figure out where im gonna get the money. ☝

I will be there in maybe September 2006... if not then january 2007.

It will be the first time ive been outside the USA or canada.... it sucks that my family hates to travel and we havent had a vacation in ages. I'm so culture deprived....

I will also be going to the kansai area instead of tokyo.... it sucks that they don't teach kansai-ben alongside the standard japanese in universities in north america. I guess since im a gaijin though, that it will be expected that I will be using the standard japanese tokyo-style dialect... but i want to be ableto understand what other people are saying...
