日本に来てから日本語の勉強を始めました。
What is the purpose of から here? I understand that the ~て form here is used to express a sequence of actions, but don't see the purpose of から. Couldn't we simply remove it? It seems superfluous in the sentence.
 
~てから means "after doing it".
