Hi

「僕が寝てたら、ビリビリッて何かを引き裂く音がして 、僕、夢だろうって思ったんだ。だってそうだよね?」

a) I am having difficulty understanding why the ~たら pattern is used here, rather than, say, ~と.

b) In what sense is だって used?

a)
寝てると can be used, but 寝てたら is more colloquial.

b)
because (it's common to consider that it was just a dream. I'm not wrong, right?)

So in this case ~たら has no nuance of supposition?

Sorry, I can't grasp this. Do you mean:

僕、夢だろうって思ったんだ = "it's common to consider that it was just a dream"
だってそうだよね? = "I'm not wrong, right?"

I can't see why the first sentence is talking about what is common, or how "because" can be a part of the question "I'm not wrong, right?"

For b), I think that it is like this:

僕、夢だろうって思ったんだ = I thought that it might be a dream
だってそうだよね? = Because, that's what it was, right? (Because something like that must be a dream, right?)

I think that Toritoribe is detailing on what "because" really means there.

Thanks, I get it now. I think I completely misunderstood Toritoribe's repy.

b)
Sorry, my answer was confusing, indeed.

だって、そうだよね? just means "Because, I'm not wrong, right?" そう refers to his idea that ビリビリッて何かを引き裂く音 was just a dream. He is asking for confirmation that it's common to think so, i.e., そうだよね actually says that そう思うの普通だよね / 間違ってないよね.
