Japan's Ministry of Justice has announced that it will strengthen its fingerprinting system/biometric authentication at passport controls of airports as Korean woman, who was displaced before, was found re-entered to Japan.

According to J-government, Korean illegal migration group developed "fake finger skin" to disable the Japanese biometric authentication system.

Meanwhile, the Korean women (51 years old) worked illegally as a Hostess in Nagano prefecture , and displaced in mid-2007, but she returned to Nagano in August 2008.

Thus, Dear Foreign Vistors to Japan, unfortunately, it may take more time for verifying fingerprinting at passport control as Korean developed the new technology. 😌

Your obsession with Korean immigrants is a bit disturbing. Were you fleeced by a hostess or something? I think there's some bad blood there.

Since Japan is so obsessed with security to the point of demanding fingerprinting thus inkling racism then why bother visiting it since they feel uncomfortable with foreigners? BTW Korea too will adopt the system very soon.

Are you racist ? It is not a question of blood but fingerprinting.
no, but it's interesting that that's the first conclusion you jump to...
from wikipedia:
Bad Blood is an English phrase referring to enmity between two (or more) people or groups.

I agree the OP seems to be focussing on Koreans abit too much. There are many illegal immigrants from different countries I bet who 'trick' the system. Saying Koreans invented this system of fake finger skin is quite a jump, how do you know it wasn't from a non-Korean?

it's not just that, the OP strives to make note of "illegal immigrants" in almost every one of his posts. I think there's a story of tragic heartbreak there. Come on Astroboy, we're all listening, it's time to heal!

I agree with NiceGaijin and Jericho. Moreover, I always find it interesting that instead of working towards a possible system of making it easier for foreign workers to visit and work in Japan while their population dives down, they instead work on picking on Koreans and foreigners again.

It reminds me of the China a bit ago when they were having mass anger and protests over the treatment and conditions of farmers, the Chinese government then starts on a tirade about Taiwan instead simply to divert the target and beat a dead horse more.

I'm all for against good immigration systems, but illegal or legal immigrants coming to a country just to work in low paying crappy service jobs isn't on my high list of "major crimes."

indeed, it can not distinguish from face.
even in my little city, a sneak thief group from South Korea was arrested. they know it doesn't lock it in the countryside, too.
Japan is a splendid target for them because it is so easy.
The most unbelievable thing is to say that some of them will come to Japan to commit a crime as a purpose.
There is a trend that protects them in South Korea becaus of Japan

It is necessary to criticize only them for good-natured South Korean and foreigner

... not entirely sure what was said here. I'm trying to not assume it is like your other posts in which you express your love of Korea. You seem to be saying that it is important to focus on Koreans and crack down on all of them for the sake of the "good ones?"

OMG... J-government clearly states that "Korean" illegal migration group developed fake finger skin technology to disable the Japan's fingerprint verification system.

IF nobody developed such "technogoly", the Japanese system remain unchanged.

Any unwelcome visitor should be barred from entering the country. With North Korea is working hard to develop the nuclear weapon, it makes sense for J-gov to focus on the visitors from the Korean Peninsula to make sure biological, radioactive, and other nasty weapons won't be smuggled in. I think that is a common sense approach.

'Fake fingerprint' Chinese woman fools Japan controls
A Chinese woman managed to enter Japan illegally by having plastic surgery to alter her fingerprints, thus fooling immigration controls, police claim.
BBC News - 'Fake fingerprint' Chinese woman fools Japan controls

Now Chinese .....

Japan needs to develop better technology to detect those fake fingerprints.
But I wonder WHY they want to come to Japan by having plastic surgery.

Well first of all, Japan needs immigration or in a few generations it will be empty. Koreans (due to a similar language) and especially Chinese (due to there being so many and have the ability to read and write kanji) are the obvious solution to the problem. Who else do you think is going to come here? Indians and people from SE Asia could come but they won't fit in as well as Chinese.

Any Japanese person person who looks down on Chinese for whatever reason is f##king deluded! Japanese civilization came from China and through (a very long) history Chinese have proved to be extremely resourceful, dynamic and hard-working.

This however isn't my query.

Recently I spent a month in and out of China. Had to go in and out of immigration control several times and never had any problem at all. They were actually quite friendly. When I came back into Japan there was a line a mile long for foreigners while the booths reserved for Japanese nationals were empty. Then I had to be f**king fingerprinted and then the f**king customs guy wanted to look through my passport again (for what reason I have no idea. I had just been through immigration. What the f**k did he think he was going find that immigration didn't???) and (while trying to act like he was just making friendly conversation) tried to interrogate me and finally patted me down and looked though my small bag.

I think average Japanese people are quite friendly and decent but they are just nonchalant to things which affect non-Japanese in Japan. The public security personnel are idiots at best and I can only presume they are this way because those above them want them to be.

So my question is, as China continues to rise and Japan is more and more overshadowed (the official Chinese economy will overtake Japan this year and be double the size in about 5 years) do you think the security forces, on orders from above will give up their little self-important delusions and just let people go about their lives like other countries which don't have any major problems with foreigners committing acts of terrorism?

Of course USA, Russia, China and India have this problem though it could be argued it is home grown in the latter two and as a result of foreign policy in the former 2 but this is not something i wish to discuss here.

Or is this not the official reason for the fingerprinting in Japan? Has a foreigner ever committed an act of terrorism in Japan?

Some of us don't visit; we live here and are subject to the same fingerprinting.

Only with just cause, though, right?

As for the Koreans inventing the technology, I think there are many people who have done so. Here's a simple one with wood glue.
How To Make a Fake Fingerprint:

And here's a nifty system designed by the nice people at Yokohama National University.

More story on that hostess. Gee, high tech solution: tape.

You didn't read the article? Money, dear boy, money.

Ahahaha, a 51 years old Korean hostess owned your technology.

Oh Reyter how I've missed you so. I can see that Japan is clearly still out to get you. Anyhow I wanted to say that in contrast to how you were treated in immigration, the last time I came in there was no line to wait in, and the guy asked me 0 questions. Then I went to customs, the girl asked me if I filled out a customs form, I handed it to her and I was on my way. No pat down, no inquires, extremely easy and they whole thing from getting off the plane to getting out of the airport took about 5 minutes.

I really get the impression that your troubles with this country stem from your attitude and how you a react to people. It is amazing you don't see that. Have fun in China, I'm sure they will be coming after you there too.

LOL You really don't understand that is the point I was illustrating? The booths reserved for Japanese nationals were empty. At least, there were some immigration officials sitting there, staring into space (this is the Japanese version of "hard work") but no Japanese nationals coming through.

One thing I won't have to put up with in China is flagrant fascists anywhere let alone in police and immigration/customs services. The Party in China doesn't like them at all and still has them shot! I guess the Party isn't very fond of fascists. Do you have any idea why this would be? The only thing that really annoys me in Japan is the fascist element. In Chengdu I was drinking beer with several policemen and women. They were really cool! I certainly couldn't imagine that in Japan!

Of course there is also the economic reality of Japan and China.......

Reyter, I don't know which airport you went to, but you are just a liar or you were unlucky not to see the efficient immigration officers.

LOL of course that is the case.............. After all, Japanese public security services wouldn't do that, would they? Insofar as "just unlucky", not just me but the 100s of even over a thousand or so other foreigners waiting in line to be fingerprinted and then have customs idiots check their passports again. I have traveled quite a bit never seen or even heard of anything like it.

I don't understand your frustration. Every sovereign nation has own policies about immigration, visa granting as well as passport control.

I suggest you to consider WHY you often faced 'idiots check', instead of telling 'idiots checks'

It just so happens that the Japanese system shows the worst of Japan as soon as one enters the country. I understand the government wants to provide jobs for these idiots and the idiots themselves want to pretend they are actually doing something productive and don't have a problem with that. Just don't let them get in peoples faces simply because they are foreigners and pay them to clean up the streets or something like that.

Anyway, judging from the conversations i heard and could understand of the people waiting with me, they aren't going to have anything positive to say about Japan when they go home.

I can certainly understand why they don't have those little buzzers to show ones level of satisfaction the Chinese immigration does. Every single foreigner would press "highly dissatisfied."

I know why they make me submit to fingerprinting and then have customs idiots look through my passport again. The same reason the police have gotten in my face a few times. Because I have white skin.

So which airport did you go to?
If you claim it was Narita, your Narita airport is not in this planet.

I am still wondering WHY the Chinese woman tried to enter Japan by developing "fake" fingerprints, while you say Japan is the country of highly "dissatified" with idiots custom checks. :?

Oh no, I got what you were saying just fine. You thought that it was inefficient, and that is not what stuck out to me. The fact that they questioned you and patted you down. That's what I thought was funny.

You say this is all happing to you because you have white skin. Well guess what.. I have white skin.. blonde hair, and blue eyes even.. you don't get much more "foreign looking" than me. And yet this kind of stuff never happens to me. So this leads me to the conclusion that you and your attitude are the cause of your problems here and not your "white skin".
