this is my first post here. Please, be patient with my question.
I follow information about problems with nuclear power plant Fukushima Daiichi. One question emerged in my thoughts: Why had Japan decided to built nuclear power stations knowing that erthquakes hit the country often. And knowing that big earthquake is expected to occur anytime as that kind of them are regular (the last one from 1923)?
Was it to become more independent from foreign natural recources? Or is nuclear power just cheaper?
That's a very interesting issue for me. If you can help me understanding this case, I'd appraciate. Thank you!
