Why Japan is not able to design commercial airplane

It's not that Japan CAN'T build large commercial airplanes, they shouldn't. Boeing and Airbus dominate the market, and there's simply no space for a third giant. First mover advantage is key in this market.

Canadian manufactures can't even crack in between the 'big two' - and a certain Quebec-based company has been soaking up bailouts for decades trying!

Edit: A Brazilian company has recently edged in an seems to be doing well in the mid-sized (terminology?) market.

Well, its now become an anti-Israeli diatribe.
A couple of the responses in this thread made me lol but this one takes the cake!
