I have just opened the Bruichladdich. It has a redish/pink colour to it. Quite a strong smell. You can smell the wood. A strong taste, but without the burn. A sweet taste and it lingers on the tongue and throat in a pleasant manner. Not a bad little malt.

Bruichladdich (pronounced something like brook-laddy I believe) is pretty good indeed! If I remember correctly it's pretty dry with a not too heavy peaty accent.

I bought some interesting whiskys a while ago, the top one being Glenlivet Nadurra 16 y/o Single Malt, Natural Cask Strength! Cask Strength means it isn't 40~43% like most whiskys, but rather around 60%! You can add some water yourself, which releases the aroma.. Yummy!! I haven't opened it yet though; I'm saving this one for a very special occasion.. Maybe when I get my Bachelor's degree next year!!

Hello peoples!!

I moved today to my new house. It wasn't a lot of work, but you know it's actually my little brother's house I'm moving to.. (He moved to Japan.) And he left me a LOT of mess to clean up. Have you ever thrown away 5 garbage bags full of food that's already gone bad!?

Anyways, so I opened up a new bottle of whisky I bought a while ago to reward myself for the hard work done. It's a Karuizawa (ﾅ馳ﾋ?､窶佚ｲ) 12 years... Has anyone drunk that one? It's SO good.. The nose is quite sweet and almost syrupy. The first nip is very fresh, but it develops while you're swallowing it into something very warm and rich, with some pretty dark tones too.. And after like 10 seconds I suddenly taste something sweet!? It's pretty complex!! Great stuff.. I guess it's more like a autumn/winter whisky, but it's very very good.

I haven't drank any alcohol in awhile. Since about September if I remember correctly. I had a nice bottle of aged Seagram's whiskey. I believe it was at least 10 years old at the time. Very good taste, didn't dilute it at all.

Seems like I haven't had the chance to drink good whiskey. Costs more money for the aged and more refined stuff, so I find myself drinking Southern Comfort and Jack Daniels. However, for some reason the stuff tastes like crap. It's like they were trying to get the whiskey to taste like that instead of the taste coming naturally. Understand what I'm saying? I'm not too sure if I do.

But yeah, I usually dilute my whiskey with Dr. Pepper or some water if it doesn't taste good to me.

I'm a fan of Maker's Mark... if I had the money, it would be Johnny Walker blue label... but eh, no Old Grandad, I don't care for it... of course, I'm not always sure what constitutes a real whisky... I don't drink alcohol like that anymore because if I did, I'd be dead in a week...

Southern Comfort is actually not a real whiskey but a liqueur! That is because it is sweetened with a lot of additives.. Jack Daniels is I think the most famous American whiskey (or at least over here), but for some reason I yet have to speak to the first person who actually likes it!!

Maker's Mark is very good!! I think I said it before in this thread.. And yeah, it's important to drink "sensibly" insofar that that's not a contradiction in terminis..

Wow...now with an explanation like that, you should be salesman at one of those fine, Ye old shoppe's for fine spirits, or something like that, wearing a kind of tux of an outfit !! I think I'm gonna go run down a bottle of that too !! (I mean, Karuizawa is here in Nagano ken, not too far from Shiga area)

Time for a new whisky people..

It's the Dufftown 15 years old. A Highland single malt whisky.

I am pretty tired so I shouldn't be trying to describe it, but I think it's pretty spicy, maybe even unfriendly at start, but it quickly develops into something nice and aromatic. A hint of something thick and sweet in the distance.. The sensation that's left in your mouth is very pleasant, and the after-taste lingers a long time after you've swallowed it: a sign of a quality whisky.

It's apparently often used in blended whisky's such as Bell's and Johnnie Walker. To me it's an autumn, maybe winter whisky. I wouldn't drink it with friends, but you know, alone.. With a good book.

Whyte & Mackays special Scotch Whiskey...from Glasgow, Scotland

Is this supposed to be good? It seems real smooth, and like, little after flame...but it says 86o on the bottle. If you happen to know, please let me know, if you know what I mean. It seems good to me.

I always buy my mother a good malt for Christmas or her birthday. This year it is a bottle of 18 year old Glenlivet. nice looking whiskey, and Glenlivet is usually a nice smooth malt.

My father in law loves whiskey, so sometimes he asks me to drink with him. I always have to refuse his offer because it's just too strong for me.

Maybe it has to do with my age? When I think about whiskey I always see men 30+ drinking it.... But Leon is still pretty young as well. so I guess not everyone is the same or did you lie about your age to us?
