I've learned how to make web sites in Dreamweaver, Flash, Frontpage, NOTEPAD ECT, Freehand, and Image Ready

Has anyone actually tried a CMS, eg. Postnuke? In how far could it be useful?

Useful in what? Development? Commercialization?
CMSs are usually a nice framework to use in some projects, but you need to know how to take the best out of them, and some have some very steep learning curves.
Depending on the project, a CMS may take months and thousands of work hours out of a project or it can ruin it for you and the client.

I used Postnuke a few years ago, but I never used it in a live website. The latest project where I used a CMS was www.webarte.pt, which uses the Joomla CMS.

Thanks for the (laaaate) response, Lineartube! I've worked on a Postnuke site for while now & have to agree. But what I like is the all-in-one solution where you don't have to program every little function yourself. But I have some suspicion that doing it on my own would actually be quicker, overall. I will try PN for a little longer (just now that I changed to a provider with an actually working MySQL database).

I normally use Text Pad, but when it comes to advanced coding .. php and asp, I prefer to use Dreamweaver .. Minimzes my errors quite a lot.

Dreamweaver is too expensive for my tastes, FrontPage isn't avaialble for the Mac and Adobe stopped making PageMill years ago. My webpage creation program of choice is Freeway Express from a company called Softpress. It's WYSIWYG, easy to use and it works like a dream, helping me get my Pink Lady website up and running in no time flat. Oh, and I use Photoshop Elements for my picture editing.

Just Imageready (for graphics-heavy stuff), Microsoft Word (for stuff that's primarily text) and notepad for editing the actual html.

This is primarily because I'm broke, and must rely on programs I can either get for free (Word, Notepad) or steal cracked versions of over the internet (Imageready )

I've been meaning to get into flash--but free (or cracked) flash authoring programs are hard to come by...

I'll use Dreamweaver to set up the initial index file and CSS. Anything after that I will do by notepad. Sometimes the helper programs don't quite do the job. 75 percent of my webpages are done from Notepad. The images of course are either scratch made or some cut and paste job from screenshots, and or pictures.

I lean greatly on Australian expertise for my efforts, and am happy to date.

I use "First Page" as a text editor (watch it, though! The download used to be infamous for providing you with a virus! "Six Buttons from Hell" is easily deleted, though!).

I also use "Swishmax" as a "poor-man's Flash" substitute.

For other work I invariably use "Paint Shop Pro" (the interface, I find easier than "Photoshop" - and it's cheaper by far! Not quite so powerful - but I'm not a pro!) and use "Rhinoceros" and "AutoCAD" for the occasional 3D image. "NJStar" gives me the Japanese word processing ability that I sometimes use.

I just don't like using any of the WYSIWYG editors any more. Too clumsy by far.
