Well my parents are both native Spanish speakers and have a very bad command for English so I'm pretty sure spanish was my first language but forunately I picked up English very fast when I was in kindergarden and I speak both fluently. I think knowing more languages opens more opportunities so I think I'm forunate. Also I think the younger you are the easier it is to learn a language.

I was born in Germany so my german is perfect. My english is near perfect since I'm living here in the US since 11 years.
I tried to learn "latin" in school, but that was a waste of time ! My parents pushed me to do that, learn latin, they said, it'll help you, if you decide to become a doctor. too bad, i'll never studied medicine .... oh well...

a few years ago i tried to teach myself chinese that went well - not !

My mother tongue is English. I'm taking German now, though, and I love the language and culture. I took two years of French and I definitely didn't do very well with that. In the future I hope to learn more languages, I always find it rather run to learn something about other countries.

Apparently the easiest language to learn if your mother tongues English is Afrikaans. I find that it's easier to learn a language that's part of the same language family as ones you already know

My primary language is Finnish, and I'm proud to be a native speaker of such difficult language.

My native language is English. I can also speak spanish and I know maybe 2 or 3 words in Japanese and Korean.:?

I grew up hearing English, French and Spanish everyday. Both my parents speak English, but my dad and his family also speak French, or really rather a sort of indiginous French, I guess. My mom, most of her friends, and many of my friends speak Spanish. So I'd that's why those are my mother tongues.
Though its probably more like a sort of FrancoPerce-Spanglish.
