What do you think of an American Visual Kei band? 🙂 Say the band sang half japanese half english, and no member was asian. 😌 Would the be kinda rude or would that be cool? ☝ What do you think of it? Would you go see them? Would they be welcomed in Japan? Would the japanese find them....wrong, or would they think at they would be stereotype? :?

😌 Sorry if this is the wrong forum... 😌 :p .

May be welcomed, but other attractions besides half japanese lyrics must be indispensable for success. Such as good looking vocalist, hit numbers in US, fruent Japanese with repartee or wit....

yeah, I want to start one....and hopfully make it big. 😌 :p But I wanted to know what others thought of it, I mean....if they Japanese would be offended 👍 by it then I don't want to do it.

as long as it's all in good fun, i think it'd be hilarious.

And i really doubt any japanese would get offended. The only people likely to get offended are crazy gaijins, who think that kind of thing should only be done by a japanese person

Kind of in the same sense that some people don't like megatokyou just because piro isn't japanese.

I don't like Megatokyo cause the story is derivative and bad, and the art is ugly.

As for a non-J VK band...
I doubt there'd be a problem. With the viewer, of course. You might have a problem finding a place to play, however.

that's fine, you don't like MT for perfectly valid reasons. I was just saying that the kind of people who hate megatokyo just because piro isn't japanese(i guess there's quite a community out there), are the same kind of people who wouldn't like a non-japanese visual kei band, just because the members aren't japanese.

Its surprisingly easy to get gigs in Japan. Its true, you'll come up with harsher criticism in the states, than you will in the Big-J.

I'm in a vk band, and all of us are Asian, but none of us a Japanese. Nobody can tell the difference though.

Some words of advice though; understand the rules of music, before you do anything. The rules of music and the biz dont bias on genre or ethnicity; so familiarize yourself with the 'game'.
