At first, I thought this whole site was all informative stuff, but then when I saw the forum's community, it pulled me right in. Originally, I was here on grounds of looking up information and tips about moving to Japan (I was hoping to move near Shinjuku-ku or Akihabara).
 
Actually, I searched for pen-palling with google .
I found this website, who looks nice to me .
I was registrered .
When I say pen-palling it's espacially for people in Japan, or others country .

I joined mainly for the sake of my knowledge and information about Japan so that I can further japan-ize myself.

But it is also my interest to befriend the people here as well. Also, since the language used is english, I could also improve my conversational english.

I originally came here to study Japanese, but as time went on, I just come here for the knowledge I can obtain from the information that people give off, and when I'm bored, to kill time!
 
cant we have a choice that combine all the other choices,
I just voted other because I come here for all the reasons mentioned in the poll except the choice "I dont know"
 
for me the most important thing : to have more knowledge and information
and other sides are in the secondary thought
 
Well, ~90% of times I come here to motivate myself to study Japanese more.

Information about 70%, knowledge ~80%, fun ~50%, and ~40% just to kill time.
 
I'm not quite sure why I first joined here, but I'm pretty sure it had something to do with Japan.
Now I usually come just to look in the Serious Discussions section. I always have a lot to say, but I'm pretty lazy so I don't actually bring myself to post or finish when I start one. It's still nice to read what people say though, especially Pachipro, the site's lucky to have him.
