Megadeth comes to mind, when I think about thrash.

I'm mostly into rap/hip-hop. I also listen to alternative and classic rock, and the oldies of course. My radio station stays on the oldies station.

As for me, I don't really listen to much English music and the ones I do listen to, I'm not really even a small fan (I don't even know their names usually!)
The only English band I'm really listening to right now is just Trapt though. Although I will listen to '80's rock, heavy metal, etc if I find it worthy enough I suppose.

Its not that there are different standards, its just that some people are right in their interpretation of what authentic metal is, and others are plain wrong.
