In Japan, wedding planners are expanding their business into arranging the perfect wedding proposal.

$1000 doesn't seem outrageous. Not that I would ever pay for something like that.

My wife and I eloped. My father was going nuts about the wedding. He was talking 500 guests (to show off his business) more than anything. My "fancy" proposal consisted of "I want to get you an engagement ring but you need to pick it out". I then dragged her to about 5 stores to get one she really liked. On a Thursday night we went to a tiny chapel in town with just the couple that introduced us (6 months before) and got married. We both went to work the next day. We didn't do a honeymoon for a year or two later.
