The best fighting game ever?

hmm.. I have to say Soul Calibur, Guilty Gear X2, Tekken series and the street fighter series.. man that was to many ^^

Id say Sould Calibur 2 and Guilty Gear X2 since I love them atm :)

Capcom vs. SNK 2 is an unbelievable, polished fighting game. It's want for a robust story mode, perhaps a small integrated dating sim (teehee!), but as a bare-bones fighting game, it's tops.

Close behind it on my list would be SF3:TS and KOF96, the only KOF I have any familiarity with.

yeah, kasumi i beat 34 people in survival mode with her see does kick arse i luv her

gundam wing endless duel(so many things to learn still)
waku waku 7(super after super after super)

tekkan 4 is good i can't wait till 5 and i can't wait till doa ultimate

I can't believe no one said it was TOBAL 2, the best fighting game ever

Now that I have been able to play the conversions for the PS2, I have to say the current King of Fighters 2000/2001 collection and the Street Fighter Anniversary collections both rock.

KoF is good, sadly 2001 was produced while SNK was in bankruptcy limbo, so they messed it up somehow. The Art was nice for character selects and what not, but the backgrounds in the original arcade mode... bleh. Thankfully they added new bg's too. 2000, is what I find myself playing the most however. The only thing I can't understand is why SNK censored the game here. No blood to speak of and Mai only has her special 'bounce' when walking or after completing a special move. I really don't care, but if you are there for the fans, give them everything.

SF Collection - Just get it. It rocks. I can't tell you how many memories it brings back.

Yeah, Guilty Gear XX is good...

..and I also forgot to mention DBZ: Budokai 1&2

I know a lot of people didn't like this one but it's actually a very good fighting game and is a lot of fun to play--when I have alot of time to kill I'll put it on "training mode" and battle the CPU for a few hours. You can really lose yourself in it, just going back and forth trading punches, kicks and energy blasts--knocking the other guy through walls and mountainsides...

...it's good violent fun. ;)

I also like playing Soul Calibur 2, my boyfriend, however, is obsessed with this game... :D :D

1. Soul Calibur 2(the Epitome of Free Form...Love the 8 way directional and Move list)
2. Tekken Tag Tournament(This is how all Fighting games should be)
3. Super Smash Bro.s Melee(beyond fun...nice goin Nintendo like always)
4. Soul Calibur 1(Oh my..this one had me on for 2 months straight)
5. w/e the latest Street fighter game is(most of them are the same..still good though)
7. Marvel Vs. Capcom(ultimate flash...me likes flash)
8. Tekken 3(just a classic)
9. Bloody Roar(sad to say only the first one was nice)

Guilty Gear was OooooKaaaayy not much a fan though.
the DBZ games are clunky and slow paced so naw.
DOA had alot of boobs and lack of moves.
Im sorry but Tekken 4 had unbalanced characters and was way too clunky which took away juggles.
Gundam Wing Endless Duel was eh. Mostly cuz of the physics engine and the moves were way too predictable.
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 was unbalanced.

meh Iono just my opinion so take it as you will.

Oh and if you wanna know how much I have studied these games here's an Idea of my records on them.

1. Soul Calibur 2(I have beat several Tournament Champs...enough said)
2. Tekken Tag Tournament(I got 99 wins on Survival and Have beat a State Champ...flawless Game)
3. Super Smash Bro.s (I have fully mastered Rolling air dodges and juggles the AI is too simple to really boast about it)
4. Soul Calibur 1 (I have beat several Tourney champs)
5. Street Fighter Series (hmm can't remember my timing but I had beaten most these games quick wit Ryu and Akuma)
6. Oops ..lol forgot how to count..lmao
7. I have beat this game with all supers.
8. Tekken 3(I basically have taken this game and raped it of play....lol)
9. I am unstoppable at Bloody Roar

The rest of the games mentioned above I played for at least 3 weeks straight and just got tired of the way each played

[Looks at previous post.......]

:?

Tekken 4 unbalanced characters, and you must be saying "clunky" because of wall effects. Though when i read your post i was like ☝ :? Righhhhttt.........

oh but a change to my best fighting ever...hmmmmm Power Stone Dreamcast! :D Bet ya don't know about that!

I would have to say the virtual reality version of virtual fighter.
Do you remember those devices that you would strap around your head like a headband and a plastic lens showed what was on the screen? The colors were red and black and you could take it with you where you wanted. That was a cool thing back in the day.

Actually EscaFlowne I have played Power Stones for DreamCast and I thought it was a great game but not so great that it would be considered a Top Fighting Game. Only reason is because the moves were limited to each attack. Clipping in that game made it very unsuccessful. The game was incredibly flashy and nice characters too but I only played it for about 2 weeks before I got bored.

I said Tekken 4 was clunky because of the new Engine they made specially for it. I loved doing juggles and timing each frame but with the new Fighting Engine it made me feel like I was playing DOA or something similar rather than a Tekken Game. I still play it but its just not as Great. If you have any other games that come to mind I would love to discuss them with you or Just voice my opinion.

Everything that I have said in this thread has been in my own opinion.

The Guilty Gear series is definitely the best in my opinion. Great music, cool and freaky characters, and good ol' 2D animated graphics. Might not have all the extras that other fighting games have, but it never gets old.

Actually, it wasn't.

The problem is that it's control system was very different than most other fighting games, so fighter veterans who's muscle-responses have been honed by years of Street Fighter-type controls have a very hard time adjusting. As a result, they tend to find the controls clunky and unresponsive...

...and get their *** handed to them by people like me who never played games enough to get conditioned and can zip around in Budokai like Sayain lightning.

As for the slow comment...

...you've never actually played the game, have you? It's one of the most frenetic fighters there is--which is only fitting since it's trying to recreate the rediculously over the top fights in DBZ.

But I guess everyone's entitled to their opinion--and most people seem to hate anything DBZ-related on general principal...

Hey man, DBZ was cool. Up until Buu.

As for the Budokais, they weren't really clunky so much as they were "tight". I always felt restricted when playing...like something was holding me down. Whereas in a game such as Tekken, where characters move pretty fluidly, it always felt like I was fighting in a vat of molassas with Budokai 1 and 2.

And yes, I have experience with both games. I finished both story modes (or whatever you wanna call it in Budokai 2) multiple times, and both tournament modes on the adept difficulty setting (advanced is just too hard).

Huh, I really can't play Tekken--probably for the same reason you had trouble with Budokai--the controls.

I'm sure the control system for Tekken is great, but I can never get the hang of it--no matter what I press it always seems like I'm fighting the character to get it to do what I want...

...whereas in Budokai, I can just flow into it and string together a bunch of uber-combos like it was nothing--I guess it's just a matter of what works for you.

I also go with Street Fighter 2. Started with the World Warrior and now up to Third Strike. I'm still playing.

I go with Dead or Alive for panty shots. The game isn't deep but the overuse of panty shots gives the game some redeeming value.
