What I hoped would be an easy virus fix turned out to be a worse nightmare. The shop called today and said my hard drive had crashed and burned; unless I want to pay several hundred dollars and send it away for a few weeks, all is lost. I haven't bothered to do a back up for over a year, so 2005 is a total loss. I had about 50 GB of info , pictures, favorite sites, E-Mail addresses, which I will write off and start over. I guess I will mark on my calendar to do a back-up every 60 days from now on. The big surprise was the drive is only 2 years old and gave NO WARNING there was a problem, just boom, gonzo?
SO, I guess this can be a lesson for all of you to think about backing up things you don't want to lose, you never know!
